NO NO NO NO NO, that is wrong about the pond as well!!! You can actually fill it up as much as you want. It's ONLY where you stand and play that matters!!! As long as you stand on the stone slab near it and play the song, the pond will fill and fairies pop out. I actually did it twice in my last playthrough.
The Goron Tunic drastically reduces the rate at which you take damage while standing on walkable lava (such as the main room of Dodongo's Cavern). However, due to them using a somewhat lazy workaround, the same works when standing on the floor spikes in the Shadow Temple. So if you wanna have a slightly easier time in the Shadow Temple in your next playthrough, make like the walls and paint yourself red.
Lava damage can also be avoided by perpetually side hopping or back flipping with the Goron Tunic on. I'd guess that the reason for that is that you're technically leaving the lava's surface whenever you use these moves; so the timer resets as if you found solid ground and then jumped back in.
You can only make an 8 note Scarecrow's Song. You make the Scarecrow's Song with Bonooru. The songs you can make for Pierre can't actually be used, it's just something for fun, to make the him dance. Even if the songs you make with Pierre could actually be used, the maximum length is something like 100 notes at most.
Speaking of mirror shield, I've heard that when it comes to octoroks, the Hylian shield will deflect the nuts they spit out, while the mirror shield will just make said nuts break.
So while the Hylian Shield can't "break" I'm pretty sure that you can lose it. The tuber-like enemies known as Like-likes will swallow you up and then spit you out after eating your shield. You can recover it from this creepy enemy if you kill them, but I recall that if you leave the area before doing so (you'll probably have to completely exit the dungeon) then even if you return to kill that same Like-like your shield will be gone, requiring you to re-buy it (or replace it with the Mirror Shield.
also if you die to said like-like and go back to try to get your shield back, sadly it and whatever tunics it potentially swallowed up will be gone :( the only things like-likes take from you though are your goron/zora tunics and your hylian shield as a child or adult it can’t take what can’t be bought again
You also won't get it back if you take too long defeating it. I remember the first time I ever encountered a Like-Like I lost my Goron Tunic and Hylian Shield to it, but I killed it in time to get it back. Then I lost my Zora Tunic and Hylian Shield to the Like-Like right outside the Mini-Boss room of the Water Temple, and I took too long killing it. I got Link chewed on two additional times after losing said gear, just in the span of trying to kill it. It never even occurred to me to try to kill it from afar, at least not until I got that reality check. I think seeing the dead Like-Like spit up the gear it ate made me complacent. Boy, did I learn my lesson.
You don't have to completely leave the Dungeon, just the area. There's a like like in the shadow barrier that can spit you on the pit and if he takes something from you is bye bye go get another one from the shop 🫠
The deku nut thing on poes is something I see speedrunners do all the time in the Forest Temple. They're the only "poes" you actually have to fight, so they're probably coded different, because it certainly works on them!
Also fun fact, about the chest minigame... when I first played ocarina of time this year I went in kinda blind and beat it on my second try, when I got the lense of truth I was just like "....oh."
Not entirely uncommon knowledge, but in the spirit temple, in the room with the giant statue whose face leads to the boss room, you can hookshot the nipples of the statue and they act as functional targets. And if you glide over to them from the chain platform with the hoverboots, they damage link. The 3DS version keeps this "easter egg" The thing about the quicksand and hoverboots, you misunderstood a crucial detail: they meant the quicksand that voids out Link instantly, ie the barrier between the fortress and the rest of the desert you normally hookshot across, and the underside of the bombchu merchant;s flying carpet. Hoverboots also let you walk harmlessly over the spikes in one of the silver rupee rooms in the shadow temple. Also, deku nuts only work on the first three poe sisters, not the regular poes.
For the final part of Bombchu Bowling (the bit with the Cuckoo in the water) if you aim Link straight down the middle and hold a bombchu and let it damage him, the recoil will aim Link perfectly to send another bombchu along the left wall and it will hit the bullseye every time completely avoiding all the obstacles
Another tactic is to deliberately damage a cuckoo that's in the way and then time your next shot for when it comes out of its stunlock. It HAS to move when it is released so there's a good chance it'll move OUT of your way. It's not a 100% guaranteed win strat but it's simple and it's always worked for me.
Another fun fact about Epona... She can temporarily destroy Magic Bean Plants. Which I'm pretty sure is a feat no item in Link's inventory can achieve.
@@ShaneT5S she is only limited to certain areas as epona uses a lot of ram, one of rhe main reasons the expansion pack was required for mm (that and the npc schedules)
The Hylian Shield can't be broken, but you can lose it. Like Likes can eat them, and while you can recover the items they eat normally, if they fall off a ledge into an abyss or leave the room, the shield will be gone. It works this way with Deku and Hylian Shields as well as the Goron and Zora Tunics. The Mirror Shield however, can't be eaten.
@@StrikerZero6 how bizarre I used to do that too and I remember them stopping pretty quickly if you could dodge them long enough. I remember having to re-antagonize the cuckoos cause they would just stop attacking me.
#4 reminded me: the hookshot can not only pull you to most wooden objects, it can also pull you to ANY CLIMBABLE SURFACE! the vines in the forest temple, the brick walls in the Light temple, and so on! oh, it also works on the stained-glass windows in the room where you fight Ganondorf!
Not sure if anyone's mentioned this/you've covered it yet but you know those bubbles in Jabu Jabu's belly? The ones that pop & do damage when you run into them? You're "supposed" to use the boomerang to kill them from afar but a much easier method is to just chuck a deku nut on the ground near them. There's a room with about a dozen or so of those bubbles (I haven't played this game in years but I think it might be the compass chest room?) and you can pop them all with one or two nuts in about two seconds.
On the statement about the combat. The original disc drive version was actually had a more fluid attacking system and noticeably didn’t have the wait-for-an-opening style of combat and looked more akin to wind waker but more smooth. But having to scrap 80% of the content and convert to cartridge meant that and many other stuff we missed out on being removed. The final combat we got (along with the areas with fixed camera angles on 2d backdrops) were a result of saving space and time during the rest of development. Also the unobtainable Piece of Heart has two others as well. However there is an extra fourth unfortunately. So close…
uhhh, the disk drive version was a thing they were going to make as a rerelease, a master quest. it was not something that this game was made from. You're thinking of Zelda 2, that one got cut down from being on a disk.

The DiscDrive version is nicknamed Zelda64 which was the working title at the time. All of this predated OoT’s release. It has been confirmed by the staff that OoT was developed for tne N64DD and Majora’s Mask briefly tried to use the DD for it at first but dropped to very quickly unlike OoT. That Zelda 2 thing you are thinking of the Famicom Disc System, the 64DD is something else entirely. And are trying to say Master Quest is the DiscDrive version? No. You’re mistaken on two fronts: first the DDversion was the beta version that was scrapped. Two, you’re probably thinking of Ura Zelda which was a planned expansion using the N64DD. @@KairuHakubi It is not contradictory. OoT was developed initial for the N64 DiscDrive but the add-one flopped in Japan so they converted what they could to cartridge and finished the game with that. After that they still had the desire to make use of the DiscDrive add-on. This resulted in the Zelda Ura expansion which got cancelled. Afterwards fans kept asking for Ura and Nintendo’s response was Master Quest, which featured zero content from Zelda Ura and was hardly anything more than rearranging the dungeons. What you are claiming makes ZERO sense whatsoever and shows you know nothing about OoT’s developmental history.

Dunno how well known this is, but there's invisible red rupees on top of the gate to castle town. Climbing up the chain while it's down is how you get to them. If that's too well known, for some reason if you get a butterfly to follow you while you walk really slowly with a deku stick out, it'll turn into a fairy. Oh yeah, there's also a weird thing where if you kill any overworld enemy enough, they'll keep getting bigger and bigger as new ones spawn.
The rupees on top of the drawbridge are red. There are three of them, but the middle one can only be gotten by walking along the edge of the drawbridge while it's up.

The enlarged enemy thing is only true of Stalchilds (Hyrule Field), Guays (Lon Lon Ranch or Desert Colossus area) and Leevers (Desert Colossus and Haunted Wasteland Areas).
You can attack Volvagia with the bow, and it even takes extra damage if you use ice arrows. Doing so is a bit tricky though, and to my knowledge, the final hit still has to be done by stunning it with the hammer. So I'd recommend that you bomb-hover to be above the pit of lava so you have a clear shot to test it with - or just use cheat codes if you find it too tricky.
There are 2 scarecrows at Lake Hylia as a kid, one of which lets you make the scarecrow song to use as an adult. After you beat the game, if you stay on the endscreen with young Link and Zelda long enough, your scarecrow song will play on different in-game instruments.
I remember finding that out and being blown away. i'm like "Whaaat is this random terrible incredibly long son- ohhhhh i remember this" To clarify: it's not your scarecrow song, it's the song you teach the OTHER scarecrow.

This is only true for the N64 version (and possibly some emulated versions like on NSO). The GameCube version and 3DS don't have this, as far as I'm aware.
You can steal the guys hat at the fishing pond by hooking it with your pole and if you lose it he makes you pay 10 rupees only works as adult Link as he doesn't have a hat as child Link.
10:03 - for the Ganon fight, specifically, ALL of your weapons are locked to 1 Damage (even the Deku Nut, or Hookshot; an Upgrade for them), except for the Master Sword which does 2 Damage...even the Biggoron Sword and Megaton Hammer are stuck doing Kokiri Sword damage... ...so if you store a MasterSword JumpAttack before it gets knocked out of Link's hands, you can use the Power-CrouchStab exploit to make the fight much shorter (though it is tricky, hitting the wriggly tail with such a Low-to-the-Ground attack)

A sign cannot be cut into more than 6 pieces, but you must cut the pieces in this order to even get to 6 1) horizontal slash (technically 1 and 2 can be swapped, but the rest must be done in order) 2) The final slash of a vertical slash combo (if you hit with a vertical slash before this you cannot get the piece from step 4) The easiest way to get this slash from my experience is to have link face the sign then turn 90 degrees and vert slash in place 3) vertical slash, but this must be done from the opposite side of where the second slash was done (i.e. if you did the previous diagonal slash in front of the sign this one must be from behind the sign) 4) final slash of a vertical slash combo again, but it must be done from the same side you just did the previous vert slash from 5) thrust takes of the rest of the sign 6) The pole will be the only thing left standing
Then a song can restore them... but I forget which one. I want to say the Song of Time or Zelda's lullaby... if not those two there's definitely one that does.

I believe they did that one previously in another video because I had a memory as a kid of a time I couldn't repair a sign with it after cutting the sign diagonally, but when I tried to replicate it, the sign always repaired, which led to me testing this one instead. (I was probably too far or something when I was a kid)
I remember finding the extra heart piece in Gerudo Fortress as a kid. But I also remember hearing that it's not the only "unobtainable" heart piece. A quick Google search tells me there are a couple more, but they require Wrong Warp glitches to get you into "cutscene-only" versions of certain areas. Like in the Kakariko Graveyard there is a normal Heart Piece you need to plant a Magic Bean in order to reach it. But you can also Wrong Warp into an alternate version of this area that has a chest containing a Heart Piece in the exact same spot. Also there is apparently a glitch involving Dampe's Heart-Pounding Gravedigging Tour where you can get Infinite Heart Pieces because the game doesn't remove the Heart Piece from the prize pool when you win it. Though this sounds like a glitch that would be only found in early versions of the game.
The infinite dampe heart pieces is only in the 3ds version cause in the n64 oot if you dig up the heart piece don't collect it and leave it's permanently gone so in the 3ds they tried to fix this but inadvertently made it so you can dig up infinite heart pieces I believe there is a yearly valentines day speedrun the community does to get max hearts first
Thinking of Dampe, it's possible to get a 0.00 time in his race as an adult. You keep playing warp songs throughout the race and get the message about not being able to use it. I've watched videos were others do it. Doesn't really do much for you, but it shows up in the records in your house iirc.
When you crash the game a small yellow or red bar will appear in the upper left corner of your screen. If the bar is red you'll need to try again but if it's yellow you can enter this button combination and the game will tell you it loves you. L + R, then while holding both press Z. D-Up C-Down C-Up D-Down D-Left C-Left C-Right D-Right A + B, then while holding both press Start. This only works on N64 hardware.
If you throw your fishin hook to the small pot of water on the back, where some rocks are, you get a special lure that will catch a lot more attention of the fish. Note: You have to catch a 15 pound fish before been able to get the "Sinking Lure".
The bombchu crash may be due to the bomb blasting while the dodongo tries to eat it, causing a null reference as the bomb is gone As for the deku nuts, I do recall it works with the Forest Temple ones, tho I dont remember if you have to not be targeting them to begin with The song of storms in the desert, you need to do it on a specific platfrom near by (navi will turn green on it) The Hylian shield one is probably only with a like like (who will also steal your tunic) and will be gone if you dont defeat it quickly All weapons deal 1 damage to ganon on its tail, the master sword is the only one able to deal more damage
The deku nut trick does work on the Poe sisters in the forest temple. Also, the odd mushroom chest in gerudo fortress is only closed if you haven't opened the chest in the same location as an adult yet.
Since we talked about weapons in ganons fight, heres a little trick: if you superslide (extremely easy speedrun trick) into the trigger for ganons fight and keep holding r during the cutscene, you will not lose the master sword
#4 - And by GAWD, the number of fake cheats and theories about jumping into the middle of the lava, even more than that texture that people thought was a cave at the bottom of Zora's Domain, that either/or had the Unicorn Fountain from one of the early trailers, to the fake T-Rex mount that eats Epona, and all sorts of other ridiculous rumors.
They don't eat the mirror shield since there would be no way to obtain the mirror shield if it ate it and you left the areas it's the same reason why they don't steal the kokiri tunic

@@lordnul1708 Yeah. I was playing the other day. I was in the Bottom of the Well and the Like Like behind the bars somehow grabbed me. It ate my Deku Shield and then spat me back out on the other side of the bars.
I remember playhing this game way back in the day, before the days of google......yes I'm older than google. there was a rumor floating around the BBC boards that someone SWORE if you launched all the gossip stones into space with the bombs, you'd summon the triforce
I dont think getting to areas/completing questlines etc would take as long as u think if you just use cheats and ofc plan what ur gonna do before hand so you dont complete something for one myth only to realize you needed to do something else before completing said thing for a another myth

Number 15 is incorrect. You can fill up pond as many times as you want when its dried out. you need to be on top of the rock where Navi glows green and play the song of storms there. when I heard you say you could only do this once per save file I had remember doing it multiple times. So I fired up Oot to test it out myself just to confirm you can indeed fill it up as often as you want.
If we're including gliches then I think the cuccoo skip into Zora's Domain is a fun one. If you bring a Cuccoo up to the waterfall in front of Zora's domain, you can go to the left hand side and diagonally jump into the wall and then proceed to slide across it. If you do then you can EASILY slip behind the waterfall regardless of whether you have Zelda's Lullaby. There are a lot of glitches in this game, but most of them aren't quite this easy.
Probably not the right series or channel for this, but there is a fun little glitch that is simple to do for anyone at home who has completed the Water Temple. If you flip a blue tektite with the hammer while it is on land, then hookshot it back into the water, when the stun of the hookshot wears off, it'll flip and fly up to space.
You can skip the Golden Scale requirement in the Lake Hylia lab deep dive by using Iron Boots, hookshotting the box, and taking the boots off mid-pull.
You can get the golden scale early by breaking a fishing record as a kid, holding Z+R, and swimming to the fisherman to weigh the fish. (without Targeting anything) Best used with a petty reward like going from a 5lb fish to 8lbs, but it works, even on vc. Its a bit finnicky though. For some reason, it shifts the reward index value. This can also skip much of the biggoron sword sequence

Which I hate admitting, as a general text guide purist lol But its great for files you aren't going to 100%, like at my local nerd bar
You can actually make the game believe you have all the medallions, even if you skipped the Fire Medallion. I was messing around with Master Quest and I got the Megaton Hammer out of the Fire Temple as it was needed for later parts of the game but I didn't beat Volvagia. But doing this, I never activated the Sheik cutscene where she teaches you the Nocturne of Shadow. I just levitated over the fence to get into the Shadow Temple and proceeded as normal. So even with the Fire Medallion missing, Rauru told me that I woke up all the sages and can now confront Ganondorf. Going to the exterior of his castle, I still got the rainbow bridge and was able to enter the castle. So it seems like the game doesn't check for all medallions but perhaps it does for the Shadow and Spirit Medallions.
One of the biggest myths I have seen of this game is getting the colored gauntlets, it requires a lot of time and glitches to pull off since they are an unused item
Water Temple Fun Facts!! In the Water Temple Room that allows you to change the Water Level within the room by striking a crystal. If you stun a Tektite before lowering the water level... It will float. Very Mysterious. Shadow Link can be stunned by Deku Nuts if you aim to the side of him instead of directly at him where he can block it with his shield. The "Shell Blade" seems indestructible when it's shell is closed; however, Dins Fire can completely bypass it's defenses. Of course you can't cast underwater so there are very few instances where you can use this. Also, "Spikes" or "Spikes Traps", whatever you wanna call them, those Metallic spiky blocks that you sometimes find that only move along a single line (There are some in the Water Temple just before the boss). They can be frozen by Ice Arrows.
A few of my favorite easter eggs/tricks. I can't remember exactly what was in the last video, so sorry if there are any repeats. In the N64 version deku sticks do the same damage as the master sword, which makes taking down redeads and bosses much easier. Backwalking is the fastest form of movement, so you can actually reach the castle before nightfall doing that. Also, this may seem obvious, but you can complete the big goron trading sidequest as soon as you are an adult. Helped me a lot for my mq playthrough. In the forest temple, when you enter the pruple sister's room you can see her crying for her other sisters beforw you fight her. Another tip for the poe sister's/poes in general is they will dissappear if you z-target them. So using arrows without Z-targeting makes it way easier. Volvagia becomes super easy when you realize he can't hit you if you hang off the sides of the platform. It's actually climbable dispite not looking like it. Dark Link's AI will get messed up if you open the fight with a megaton hammer blow, so he won't be able to defend agaist your attacks. The fire section in Ganon's trial is much easier whith the hover boots because they let you walk over the central sinking platform.
@@KairuHakubi hmmm, It's been a while since I was part of the speedrunning community, but I believe the downtime between backflips detracts from time and sidehops are harder to coordinate so they aren't preferred.
18:44 - its a 50/50 chance, for Each Room, with the RNG 'locked in' every time you Enter the shop (from the Market)...its best to use SaveStates, but one CAN still open All of the keychests, without the Lens
20:14 - "who knows?" i know! the Mirror Shield can only Reflect the Rova Twin's beam attacks, Twinrova's ball attacks, and Specific Sunlight (found only in the Spirit Temple and Ganon's Castle, with the SunSwitch that needs it)...you cant reflect Ganondorf's "Tennis" attacks (nor Phantom Ganon's, for that matter), cant reflect Beamos beams, cant even Bounce Back projectiles (like Octorok popcorn, or MadScrub nuts)...perhaps its ONLY advantage over the Hylian Shield (besides the handful of Spirit Temple checks) is that you wont lose it to a LikeLike... in fact, the Mirror Shield is the ONLY shield you cant "lose", because theres only the One in the entire game...you can always buy another Deku/Hylian shield, so you can always LOSE your Deku/Hylian shield...
Your testing with the mirror shield reminded me of one interesting detail. While normally there’s little reason to use the Hylian shield after getting the mirror shield as the latter cannot be eaten by Like-Likes, there is one thing that the mirror shield cannot do which the Hylian can: deflect physical projectiles. The mirror shield cannot deflect Octorok rocks or Deku Scrub nuts. They will simply break upon impact.
In the Forest Temple, there's an eye switch covered in ice. You're meant to shoot it with an arrow through a torch. But you can also activate it with Din's Fire.
The fillable fairy fountain in the Gerudo Desert can be refilled multiple times during the same game as long as you exit the area and then retry. You need to stand on the rock by the pool before you play The Song of Storms. I always stand there so the green sand enemies don't get me.

On the topic of crashing, the funniest one I know of is using Din's Fire on the White Bubbles (flying skulls) at the top of the Spirit Temple. It's funny because that is a situation a casual would most likely try.
True, but Leevers only have one big size and Guays have a size cap after which they reset to the smallest size, whereas the big Stalchild keeps getting bigger, the size only resetting at daybreak. I suppose they didn't cap the Stalchild size because you can only see a maximum of two big Stalchildren in the course of a night. Makes for an interesting sight if you modify the game's code to lock the time of day to sometime at night.
This is very true. As for leevers, if you kill the one big one, then for a little bit you won't have to deal with the leevers trying to murder you. (I found this one when I was playing the Gamecube version of Ocarina of Time.)
Oh, the Gerudo pond: _you were standing on the wrong spot._ That rock in the other player's clip: has a Z-target on it. Ya gotta be on it. Dunno about that 'once per file' bit, tho.
To go with the secret you did with the hookshot on Ganon you can roll between his legs when you hit his face then hit the tail and keep going back and forth. That's how I do it when I play
5:30(ish) - the Deku Nut DEFINITELY makes an Invisible Poe visible, but maybe its just the Forest Temple Sisters, or perhaps it only works when you Arent Z-Targeting the Poe (theyre "shy" like that)
In the first builds of oot, the gerudo who gives you the membership card upon releasing the carpenters swaps her outfit and lipstick colour to match link’s currently equipped tunic. Probably pointing at the same texture!
I wanna clear somethings #16. It does work against the poe sister in both majoras mask and ocarina of time #6. The chest was opened cause it shares the same flag as the one in the adult fortress so if you open it as a child you lock yourself out of that piece of heart #5. The same thing applies to guays #3. Not relevant but i actually have a video of me getting chest game first try 😂 Ill shoot you a "myth" for you to test if you drop a chu out of bounds in the air of course different things happen depend on which version of oot you're playing N64 crashes, Virtual console explodes like normal, and on GameCube the explosion doubles in size
Oh and related to Wind Waker: 1. if you freeze a Floormaster and shatter it with the Skull Hammer it explodes and erupts treasure. 2. Daarknuts armor actually has a custom health bar and falls off once you hit it enough times. 3. Apparently Poes die INSTANTLY to hee Skull Hammer
I would be so stoked to one day see a video of you revisiting these myths in each major version of the game (N64, GameCube, Virtual Console, etc) to see if there are any myths that change depending on which one you're playing.
Regarding the deku nut making poes reappear I'm certain it's possible. The issue is you must do it without z targeting. Unless I'm mistaking it for a feature in Majoras Mask.
I think the point is to keep gear from being outright obsolete- Zelda games try to justify inventory slots. ngl I feel like it should have been a straight upgrade
Speaking of the Treasure Chest game, you can use the Ocarina Items glitch to play Sun's Song to reset the scene, but the seed of the chests stays the same. So you can use it over and over to figure out which chests have the keys and which ones don't.
@@vindrmasuta What I've seen ZFG do is use a randomiser-only glitch to keep the unlocked doors unlocked while getting a new key by using Sun's Song. I recall him saying several times that it only works in randomiser.
Playing through Link to the past I realized using magic powder on the yellow magic spirals makes them fairies, just like it does with antifaries. Super useful as instead of an annoying thing to dodge you can just stand there and hit it with magic powder for a heal.
I don't know if someone has already said it, but the damage you take from drinking a Poe varies, you can even die from full health, if I recall one of my gameplays correctly.

Is the thing you wanted to test on Twinrova, whether Fire Arrows will damage Kotake, and Ice Arrows Koume? If so, they don't. They deflect those attacks with their brooms just like any other projectile you can try to shoot at them.
Maybe I'm mistaken, but can't even the Deku Shield block Beamos beams? Again I could just be mistaken, but if I'm right then does it really qualify as a stress test for the Hylian Shield? Wouldn't an attack that the Hylian Shield can't block be a better stress test? For example, an Iron Knuckle's ax swing? Considering this doesn't break a Hylian Shield _or_ a Deku Shield (I tried this once during one of my earliest playthroughs of the game), I think it's safe to say that shield breakage like we see in Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, or heck even Skyward Sword, is not a thing in Ocarina of Time. It's also not a thing with the Hero's Shield in Majora's Mask.
I have gotten cuckoos to leave me alone. Go to Zora's river, attack until it crows, jump in the river near the entrance and stay in the middle. After a few minutes they will leave. You can then attack the cuckoo again and it won't crow.
The deku nuts do work on poes it just only works on the poe sisters in forest temple also you can get the laboratory heart piece without the gold scale by using iron boots and hook shot by removing the iron boots right when you hook onto the box at the bottom of the pool
17:35 - Ganon's Castle also has the "last traces" of the Wind/Ice Temples that were planned, but they were replaced by the Forest/Water Temples (this is also why the Forest Medallion looks like a 4-Bladed Fan, and the Water Medallion looks like a Snowflake)
The Forest Temple was going to be the hub world, back in the stage where they were going to use the Painting Portal design from Super Mario 64. And it had Portal Technology

My first ever OOT randomizer I beat the treasure chest game on my first attempt without the Lens of Truth. I followed the basic statistics theory used in the game shows that you pick a door between 2 doors and 1 is a goat and the other a prize. For every room I switched to the opposite cheese of whatever chest I walked up to first (switching each room actually increases your odds.)
The dodongo things is likely because they do not expect you have those on the 2nd dungeon or that a player would even attempt that on a revisit to get missing skultulas or something
The Hylian shield cannot be broken, but it CAN be eaten by a likelike if it swallows you. Along with the red or blue tunic. But you can get the items back if you defeat the likelike quickly enough.
You can change your tunic color after saving all the carpenters in the fortress and dropping a bomb by the lady that gives you the theifs pass (the one holding her hand by her mouth) in addition, her clothes change colors too!

NO NO NO NO NO, that is wrong about the pond as well!!! You can actually fill it up as much as you want. It's ONLY where you stand and play that matters!!! As long as you stand on the stone slab near it and play the song, the pond will fill and fairies pop out. I actually did it twice in my last playthrough.

The Goron Tunic drastically reduces the rate at which you take damage while standing on walkable lava (such as the main room of Dodongo's Cavern). However, due to them using a somewhat lazy workaround, the same works when standing on the floor spikes in the Shadow Temple. So if you wanna have a slightly easier time in the Shadow Temple in your next playthrough, make like the walls and paint yourself red.

It works on any spikes actually , even the ones in the water temple. Finding that out before the internet took off was a huge thing for me lol.

Lava damage can also be avoided by perpetually side hopping or back flipping with the Goron Tunic on. I'd guess that the reason for that is that you're technically leaving the lava's surface whenever you use these moves; so the timer resets as if you found solid ground and then jumped back in.
If you create a Scarecrow song with 4,000 notes, and then play it in front of Dampe as a child, Dampe will start twerking.

You can only make an 8 note Scarecrow's Song. You make the Scarecrow's Song with Bonooru. The songs you can make for Pierre can't actually be used, it's just something for fun, to make the him dance. Even if the songs you make with Pierre could actually be used, the maximum length is something like 100 notes at most.

So while the Hylian Shield can't "break" I'm pretty sure that you can lose it. The tuber-like enemies known as Like-likes will swallow you up and then spit you out after eating your shield. You can recover it from this creepy enemy if you kill them, but I recall that if you leave the area before doing so (you'll probably have to completely exit the dungeon) then even if you return to kill that same Like-like your shield will be gone, requiring you to re-buy it (or replace it with the Mirror Shield.
also if you die to said like-like and go back to try to get your shield back, sadly it and whatever tunics it potentially swallowed up will be gone :(
the only things like-likes take from you though are your goron/zora tunics and your hylian shield as a child or adult

Breaking is still considered as lost but it's weird most never think why you can buy shields if you don't lose them somehow.
You also won't get it back if you take too long defeating it. I remember the first time I ever encountered a Like-Like I lost my Goron Tunic and Hylian Shield to it, but I killed it in time to get it back. Then I lost my Zora Tunic and Hylian Shield to the Like-Like right outside the Mini-Boss room of the Water Temple, and I took too long killing it. I got Link chewed on two additional times after losing said gear, just in the span of trying to kill it. It never even occurred to me to try to kill it from afar, at least not until I got that reality check. I think seeing the dead Like-Like spit up the gear it ate made me complacent. Boy, did I learn my lesson.
You don't have to completely leave the Dungeon, just the area. There's a like like in the shadow barrier that can spit you on the pit and if he takes something from you is bye bye go get another one from the shop 🫠
The deku nut thing on poes is something I see speedrunners do all the time in the Forest Temple. They're the only "poes" you actually have to fight, so they're probably coded different, because it certainly works on them!

Not entirely uncommon knowledge, but in the spirit temple, in the room with the giant statue whose face leads to the boss room, you can hookshot the nipples of the statue and they act as functional targets. And if you glide over to them from the chain platform with the hoverboots, they damage link. The 3DS version keeps this "easter egg"
The thing about the quicksand and hoverboots, you misunderstood a crucial detail: they meant the quicksand that voids out Link instantly, ie the barrier between the fortress and the rest of the desert you normally hookshot across, and the underside of the bombchu merchant;s flying carpet. Hoverboots also let you walk harmlessly over the spikes in one of the silver rupee rooms in the shadow temple.
Also, deku nuts only work on the first three poe sisters, not the regular poes.
For the final part of Bombchu Bowling (the bit with the Cuckoo in the water) if you aim Link straight down the middle and hold a bombchu and let it damage him, the recoil will aim Link perfectly to send another bombchu along the left wall and it will hit the bullseye every time completely avoiding all the obstacles

It also works on the second wall if the bullseye is on the left or right.
Another tactic is to deliberately damage a cuckoo that's in the way and then time your next shot for when it comes out of its stunlock. It HAS to move when it is released so there's a good chance it'll move OUT of your way. It's not a 100% guaranteed win strat but it's simple and it's always worked for me.

As far as the Deku Nuts go, they do work on Poe's but I've only seem them work on the Poe Sisters in the Forest Temple.

The Epona thing works because you can’t get damaged by anything at all on Epona, in both this game and Majora’s Mask
Another fun fact about Epona... She can temporarily destroy Magic Bean Plants. Which I'm pretty sure is a feat no item in Link's inventory can achieve.

The Hylian Shield can't be broken, but you can lose it. It works this way with Deku and Hylian Shields as well as the Goron and Zora Tunics. The Mirror Shield however, can't be eaten.

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this/you've covered it yet but you know those bubbles in Jabu Jabu's belly? The ones that pop & do damage when you run into them? You're "supposed" to use the boomerang to kill them from afar but a much easier method is to just chuck a deku nut on the ground near them. There's a room with about a dozen or so of those bubbles (I haven't played this game in years but I think it might be the compass chest room?) and you can pop them all with one or two nuts in about two seconds.
Using the Deku Nuts on the Poes DOES work on the Poe Sisters in the Forest Temple.
On the statement about the combat. The original disc drive version was actually had a more fluid attacking system and noticeably didn’t have the wait-for-an-opening style of combat and looked more akin to wind waker but more smooth. But having to scrap 80% of the content and convert to cartridge meant that and many other stuff we missed out on being removed. The final combat we got (along with the areas with fixed camera angles on 2d backdrops) were a result of saving space and time during the rest of development.
Also the unobtainable Piece of Heart has two others as well. However there is an extra fourth unfortunately. So close…
uhhh, the disk drive version was a thing they were going to make as a rerelease, a master quest. it was not something that this game was made from. You're thinking of Zelda 2, that one got cut down from being on a disk.

The DiscDrive version is nicknamed Zelda64 which was the working title at the time. All of this predated OoT’s release. It has been confirmed by the staff that OoT was developed for tne N64DD and Majora’s Mask briefly tried to use the DD for it at first but dropped to very quickly unlike OoT. That Zelda 2 thing you are thinking of the Famicom Disc System, the 64DD is something else entirely.
And are trying to say Master Quest is the DiscDrive version? No. You’re mistaken on two fronts: first the DDversion was the beta version that was scrapped. Two, you’re probably thinking of Ura Zelda which was a planned expansion using the N64DD. Both the Zelda 64 DD build and Zelda Ura are two different things. Also, no, Master Quest is not Zelda aura anyway, that’s a myth. All that was is dungeons rearranged to shut Zelda Ura fans up. No content from Zelda Ura came from Master Quest.

After that they still had the desire to make use of the DiscDrive add-on. This resulted in the Zelda Ura expansion which got cancelled. Afterwards fans kept asking for Ura and Nintendo’s response was Master Quest, which featured zero content from Zelda Ura and was hardly anything more than rearranging the dungeons.

Dunno how well known this is, but there's invisible red rupees on top of the gate to castle town. Climbing up the chain while it's down is how you get to them. If that's too well known, for some reason if you get a butterfly to follow you while you walk really slowly with a deku stick out, it'll turn into a fairy.
Oh yeah, there's also a weird thing where if you kill any overworld enemy enough, they'll keep getting bigger and bigger as new ones spawn.
The rupees on top of the drawbridge are red. There are three of them, but the middle one can only be gotten by walking along the edge of the drawbridge while it's up.
@@devonm042690 Indeed they are. I literally just sped through the prologue to check before you replied. I remember they were a life saver if you ran out of rupees at the minigames.
I just use the sun's song while atop the chain, that way you can walk across the drawn drawbridge and get all 3 of the red rupees.
The enlarged enemy thing is only true of Stalchilds (Hyrule Field), Guays (Lon Lon Ranch or Desert Colossus area) and Leevers (Desert Colossus and Haunted Wasteland Areas).

You can attack Volvagia with the bow, and it even takes extra damage if you use ice arrows. Doing so is a bit tricky though, and to my knowledge, the final hit still has to be done by stunning it with the hammer. So I'd recommend that you bomb-hover to be above the pit of lava so you have a clear shot to test it with - or just use cheat codes if you find it too tricky.
Trust me he will cheat code, he ain't no speedrunner XD

You can also damage her with Bombs. Drop a Bomb in the hole she goes into just before she pops her head back up.

There are 2 scarecrows at Lake Hylia as a kid, one of which lets you make the scarecrow song to use as an adult. After you beat the game, if you stay on the endscreen with young Link and Zelda long enough, your scarecrow song will play on different in-game instruments.
I remember finding that out and being blown away. i'm like "Whaaat is this random terrible incredibly long son- ohhhhh i remember this"
To clarify: it's not your scarecrow song, it's the song you teach the OTHER scarecrow.

This is only true for the N64 version (and possibly some emulated versions like on NSO). The GameCube version and 3DS don't have this, as far as I'm aware.

10:03 - for the Ganon fight, specifically, ALL of your weapons are locked to 1 Damage (even the Deku Nut, or Hookshot; an Upgrade for them), except for the Master Sword which does 2 Damage...even the Biggoron Sword and Megaton Hammer are stuck doing Kokiri Sword damage...
...so if you store a MasterSword JumpAttack before it gets knocked out of Link's hands, you can use the Power-CrouchStab exploit to make the fight much shorter (though it is tricky, hitting the wriggly tail with such a Low-to-the-Ground attack)

A sign cannot be cut into more than 6 pieces, but you must cut the pieces in this order to even get to 6
1) horizontal slash (technically 1 and 2 can be swapped, but the rest must be done in order)
2) The final slash of a vertical slash combo (if you hit with a vertical slash before this you cannot get the piece from step 4) The easiest way to get this slash from my experience is to have link face the sign then turn 90 degrees and vert slash in place
3) vertical slash, but this must be done from the opposite side of where the second slash was done (i.e. if you did the previous diagonal slash in front of the sign this one must be from behind the sign)
4) final slash of a vertical slash combo again, but it must be done from the same side you just did the previous vert slash from
5) thrust takes of the rest of the sign
6) The pole will be the only thing left standing
Then a song can restore them... but I forget which one. I want to say the Song of Time or Zelda's lullaby... if not those two there's definitely one that does.

I believe they did that one previously in another video because I had a memory as a kid of a time I couldn't repair a sign with it after cutting the sign diagonally, but when I tried to replicate it, the sign always repaired, which led to me testing this one instead. (I was probably too far or something when I was a kid)
I remember finding the extra heart piece in Gerudo Fortress as a kid. But I also remember hearing that it's not the only "unobtainable" heart piece.
A quick Google search tells me there are a couple more, but they require Wrong Warp glitches to get you into "cutscene-only" versions of certain areas.
Like in the Kakariko Graveyard there is a normal Heart Piece you need to plant a Magic Bean in order to reach it. But you can also Wrong Warp into an alternate version of this area that has a chest containing a Heart Piece in the exact same spot.
Also there is apparently a glitch involving Dampe's Heart-Pounding Gravedigging Tour where you can get Infinite Heart Pieces because the game doesn't remove the Heart Piece from the prize pool when you win it. Though this sounds like a glitch that would be only found in early versions of the game.
The infinite dampe heart pieces is only in the 3ds version cause in the n64 oot if you dig up the heart piece don't collect it and leave it's permanently gone so in the 3ds they tried to fix this but inadvertently made it so you can dig up infinite heart pieces I believe there is a yearly valentines day speedrun the community does to get max hearts first
Thinking of Dampe, it's possible to get a 0.00 time in his race as an adult. You keep playing warp songs throughout the race and get the message about not being able to use it. I've watched videos were others do it. Doesn't really do much for you, but it shows up in the records in your house iirc.
When you crash the game a small yellow or red bar will appear in the upper left corner of your screen. If the bar is red you'll need to try again but if it's yellow you can enter this button combination and the game will tell you it loves you.
L + R, then while holding both press Z.

If you throw your fishin hook to the small pot of water on the back, where some rocks are, you get a special lure that will catch a lot more attention of the fish.

Since we talked about weapons in ganons fight, heres a little trick: if you superslide (extremely easy speedrun trick) into the trigger for ganons fight and keep holding r during the cutscene, you will not lose the master sword

You can backtrack the Haunted Wasteland even as a child to reach where the Gerudo Fortress back gate is, if you memorize the actual route backwards.

I dont think getting to areas/completing questlines etc would take as long as u think if you just use cheats and ofc plan what ur gonna do before hand so you dont complete something for one myth only to realize you needed to do something else before completing said thing for a another myth

Number 15 is incorrect. You can fill up pond as many times as you want when its dried out. you need to be on top of the rock where Navi glows green and play the song of storms there.
when I heard you say you could only do this once per save file I had remember doing it multiple times. So I fired up Oot to test it out myself just to confirm you can indeed fill it up as often as you want.
If we're including gliches then I think the cuccoo skip into Zora's Domain is a fun one. If you bring a Cuccoo up to the waterfall in front of Zora's domain, you can go to the left hand side and diagonally jump into the wall and then proceed to slide across it. If you do then you can EASILY slip behind the waterfall regardless of whether you have Zelda's Lullaby. There are a lot of glitches in this game, but most of them aren't quite this easy.

Probably not the right series or channel for this, but there is a fun little glitch that is simple to do for anyone at home who has completed the Water Temple. If you flip a blue tektite with the hammer while it is on land, then hookshot it back into the water, when the stun of the hookshot wears off, it'll flip and fly up to space.

You can skip the Golden Scale requirement in the Lake Hylia lab deep dive by using Iron Boots, hookshotting the box, and taking the boots off mid-pull.
You can get the golden scale early by breaking a fishing record as a kid, holding Z+R, and swimming to the fisherman to weigh the fish. (without Targeting anything)
Best used with a petty reward like going from a 5lb fish to 8lbs, but it works, even on vc. Its a bit finnicky though.
For some reason, it shifts the reward index value. This can also skip much of the biggoron sword sequence

You can actually make the game believe you have all the medallions, even if you skipped the Fire Medallion. I was messing around with Master Quest and I got the Megaton Hammer out of the Fire Temple as it was needed for later parts of the game but I didn't beat Volvagia. But doing this, I never activated the Sheik cutscene where she teaches you the Nocturne of Shadow. I just levitated over the fence to get into the Shadow Temple and proceeded as normal. So even with the Fire Medallion missing, Rauru told me that I woke up all the sages and can now confront Ganondorf. Going to the exterior of his castle, I still got the rainbow bridge and was able to enter the castle. So it seems like the game doesn't check for all medallions but perhaps it does for the Shadow and Spirit Medallions.
Yup. Only shadow and spirit are checked since the devs use lazy logic assuming you can't get those 2 without the others.

One of the biggest myths I have seen of this game is getting the colored gauntlets, it requires a lot of time and glitches to pull off since they are an unused item

Water Temple Fun Facts!!
In the Water Temple Room that allows you to change the Water Level within the room by striking a crystal. If you stun a Tektite before lowering the water level... It will float. Very Mysterious.
Shadow Link can be stunned by Deku Nuts if you aim to the side of him instead of directly at him where he can block it with his shield.
The "Shell Blade" seems indestructible when it's shell is closed; however, Dins Fire can completely bypass it's defenses. Of course you can't cast underwater so there are very few instances where you can use this.
Also, "Spikes" or "Spikes Traps", whatever you wanna call them, those Metallic spiky blocks that you sometimes find that only move along a single line (There are some in the Water Temple just before the boss). They can be frozen by Ice Arrows.

A few of my favorite easter eggs/tricks. I can't remember exactly what was in the last video, so sorry if there are any repeats.
In the N64 version deku sticks do the same damage as the master sword, which makes taking down redeads and bosses much easier.
Backwalking is the fastest form of movement, so you can actually reach the castle before nightfall doing that.
Also, this may seem obvious, but you can complete the big goron trading sidequest as soon as you are an adult. Helped me a lot for my mq playthrough.
In the forest temple, when you enter the pruple sister's room you can see her crying for her other sisters beforw you fight her.
Another tip for the poe sister's/poes in general is they will dissappear if you z-target them. So using arrows without Z-targeting makes it way easier.
Volvagia becomes super easy when you realize he can't hit you if you hang off the sides of the platform. It's actually climbable dispite not looking like it.
Dark Link's AI will get messed up if you open the fight with a megaton hammer blow, so he won't be able to defend agaist your attacks.
The fire section in Ganon's trial is much easier whith the hover boots because they let you walk over the central sinking platform.
backwalking isn't faster than backflipping or sidehopping, is it?
@@KairuHakubi hmmm, It's been a while since I was part of the speedrunning community, but I believe the downtime between backflips detracts from time and sidehops are harder to coordinate so they aren't preferred.

the Mirror Shield can only Reflect the Rova Twin's beam attacks, Twinrova's ball attacks, and Specific Sunlight (found only in the Spirit Temple and Ganon's Castle, with the SunSwitch that needs it)...you cant reflect Ganondorf's "Tennis" attacks (nor Phantom Ganon's, for that matter), cant reflect Beamos beams, cant even Bounce Back projectiles (like Octorok popcorn, or MadScrub nuts)...perhaps its ONLY advantage over the Hylian Shield (besides the handful of Spirit Temple checks) is that you wont lose it to a LikeLike...
in fact, the Mirror Shield is the ONLY shield you cant "lose", because theres only the One in the entire game...you can always buy another Deku/Hylian shield, so you can always LOSE your Deku/Hylian shield...
Your testing with the mirror shield reminded me of one interesting detail. While normally there’s little reason to use the Hylian shield after getting the mirror shield as the latter cannot be eaten by Like-Likes, there is one thing that the mirror shield cannot do which the Hylian can: deflect physical projectiles.
The mirror shield cannot deflect Octorok rocks or Deku Scrub nuts. They will simply break upon impact.

In the Forest Temple, there's an eye switch covered in ice. You're meant to shoot it with an arrow through a torch. But you can also activate it with Din's Fire.

One of the Deku Scrubs in The Deku Tree can't actually be reflected with the Hylian shield. AND is immune to the Mega-Ton Hammer.

The fillable fairy fountain in the Gerudo Desert can be refilled multiple times during the same game as long as you exit the area and then retry. You need to stand on the rock by the pool before you play The Song of Storms. I always stand there so the green sand enemies don't get me.

On the topic of crashing, the funniest one I know of is using Din's Fire on the White Bubbles (flying skulls) at the top of the Spirit Temple.
It's funny because that is a situation a casual would most likely try.
The game also crashes during the Deku Sprout cutscene if you go there as Young Link.
In Ocarina of Time, if you kill enough Leevers, Guays or Stalchild sometimes will appear a huge version of these that drops lots of rupees.
True, but Leevers only have one big size and Guays have a size cap after which they reset to the smallest size, whereas the big Stalchild keeps getting bigger, the size only resetting at daybreak. I suppose they didn't cap the Stalchild size because you can only see a maximum of two big Stalchildren in the course of a night. Makes for an interesting sight if you modify the game's code to lock the time of day to sometime at night.
This is very true. As for leevers, if you kill the one big one, then for a little bit you won't have to deal with the leevers trying to murder you. (I found this one when I was playing the Gamecube version of Ocarina of Time.)

To go with the secret you did with the hookshot on Ganon you can roll between his legs when you hit his face then hit the tail and keep going back and forth. That's how I do it when I play
5:30(ish) - the Deku Nut DEFINITELY makes an Invisible Poe visible, but maybe its just the Forest Temple Sisters, or perhaps it only works when you Arent Z-Targeting the Poe (theyre "shy" like that)
In the first builds of oot, the gerudo who gives you the membership card upon releasing the carpenters swaps her outfit and lipstick colour to match link’s currently equipped tunic. Probably pointing at the same texture!
all the scimitar-wielding prison guard ones do, right?
If you change your tunic in front of them, you can watch it change too XD
It also matches your bomb/bombchu colours, so you can watch her clothing flash!

Ill shoot you a "myth" for you to test if you drop a chu out of bounds in the air of course different things happen depend on which version of oot you're playing N64 crashes, Virtual console explodes like normal, and on GameCube the explosion doubles in size
Oh and related to Wind Waker:
1. if you freeze a Floormaster and shatter it with the Skull Hammer it explodes and erupts treasure.
2. Daarknuts armor actually has a custom health bar and falls off once you hit it enough times.
3. Apparently Poes die INSTANTLY to hee Skull Hammer
Hover boots will automatically walk over the spikes in the shadows temple wether you can see them or not
I would be so stoked to one day see a video of you revisiting these myths in each major version of the game (N64, GameCube, Virtual Console, etc) to see if there are any myths that change depending on which one you're playing.
Regarding the deku nut making poes reappear I'm certain it's possible. The issue is you must do it without z targeting.
Unless I'm mistaking it for a feature in Majoras Mask.

which weirdly makes sense. it's meant for reflecting light, it's presumably made of some kind of glass or crystal.. it's not as bouncy as metal.
I think the point is to keep gear from being outright obsolete- Zelda games try to justify inventory slots. ngl I feel like it should have been a straight upgrade

Speaking of the Treasure Chest game, you can use the Ocarina Items glitch to play Sun's Song to reset the scene, but the seed of the chests stays the same. So you can use it over and over to figure out which chests have the keys and which ones don't.
So if you fail you do the glitch in the shop to try again with the same seed?

@@vindrmasuta What I've seen ZFG do is use a randomiser-only glitch to keep the unlocked doors unlocked while getting a new key by using Sun's Song. I recall him saying several times that it only works in randomiser.
Playing through Link to the past I realized using magic powder on the yellow magic spirals makes them fairies, just like it does with antifaries.
Super useful as instead of an annoying thing to dodge you can just stand there and hit it with magic powder for a heal.

I don't know if someone has already said it, but the damage you take from drinking a Poe varies, you can even die from full health, if I recall one of my gameplays correctly.

Is the thing you wanted to test on Twinrova, whether Fire Arrows will damage Kotake, and Ice Arrows Koume? If so, they don't. They deflect those attacks with their brooms just like any other projectile you can try to shoot at them.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but can't even the Deku Shield block Beamos beams? Again I could just be mistaken, but if I'm right then does it really qualify as a stress test for the Hylian Shield? Wouldn't an attack that the Hylian Shield can't block be a better stress test? For example, an Iron Knuckle's ax swing? Considering this doesn't break a Hylian Shield _or_ a Deku Shield (I tried this once during one of my earliest playthroughs of the game), I think it's safe to say that shield breakage like we see in Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, or heck even Skyward Sword, is not a thing in Ocarina of Time. It's also not a thing with the Hero's Shield in Majora's Mask.
IIRC, beamos beams just ignore the deku shield. It doesn't break, but it doesn't shield damage.
You can one shot ganon if you lunch a bomb near the tail and when it touch the tail throw a light arrow
I have gotten cuckoos to leave me alone. Go to Zora's river, attack until it crows, jump in the river near the entrance and stay in the middle. After a few minutes they will leave. You can then attack the cuckoo again and it won't crow.
I believe cuccoos leave you alone if they can't damage or hit you after a few mins. Such as being on epona during it.
4:00(ish) - its not so much "the Cuccos cant hurt you", but more that "NOTHING can hurt you" while youre on Epona
The deku nuts do work on poes it just only works on the poe sisters in forest temple also you can get the laboratory heart piece without the gold scale by using iron boots and hook shot by removing the iron boots right when you hook onto the box at the bottom of the pool
there's a pattern to the chests in the minigame in castle town, once you learn it, it makes it easier to guess
17:35 - Ganon's Castle also has the "last traces" of the Wind/Ice Temples that were planned, but they were replaced by the Forest/Water Temples (this is also why the Forest Medallion looks like a 4-Bladed Fan, and the Water Medallion looks like a Snowflake)
The Forest Temple was going to be the hub world, back in the stage where they were going to use the Painting Portal design from Super Mario 64.

9:29 it's way more likely that the developers simply copied the adult link section of gerudo fortress since it was supposed to be inaccessible unless you cheated, which resulted in an extra heart piece
My first ever OOT randomizer I beat the treasure chest game on my first attempt without the Lens of Truth. I followed the basic statistics theory used in the game shows that you pick a door between 2 doors and 1 is a goat and the other a prize. For every room I switched to the opposite cheese of whatever chest I walked up to first (switching each room actually increases your odds.)
number 16 works in the forest temple. its literally how i kill the sisters faster in my rando runs.
so it works on the poe sisters but not normal poes. that tracks.

The dodongo things is likely because they do not expect you have those on the 2nd dungeon or that a player would even attempt that on a revisit to get missing skultulas or something
The Hylian shield cannot be broken, but it CAN be eaten by a likelike if it swallows you. Along with the red or blue tunic. But you can get the items back if you defeat the likelike quickly enough.
You can change your tunic color after saving all the carpenters in the fortress and dropping a bomb by the lady that gives you the theifs pass (the one holding her hand by her mouth) in addition, her clothes change colors too!
