I love that you're going the extra mile to come back and revisit the elements that make you dissatisfied. It was my favorite bit of the pink dress saga, and it goes a long way to making this vid feel satisfying.
I wholeheartedly agree! There is this other youtuber I love, I adore her honestly but it is disheartening how often it seems like she is trying to cut corners to fit in a timeframe just to make a garment for a youtube video instead of actually making a neatly finished piece of clothing. While Loepsie is actually learning on her mistakes and that is why her sewing keeps improving.
That dress looks amazing on you!! A tip for making more flared skirts with limited fabric: you could add gores between the seams (triangle panels) to flare it out more.
I HAVE AN IDEAAAA, what if you added a couple of panels of white to the front of the skirt? It would emulate the apron without wearing an actual apron AND give you some extra volume
Like I think some other people were saying, adding some white panels into the skirt could give it more volume! Or, while it wouldn't make the dress overall more voluminous, I think it would also look very cute with an added little ruffle on the bottom to give it some extra flair and shape!
The fact is that the rest of us didn't know what you were envisioning so when we look at it we just see it for what it is. It's so cute! I think you should be a little kinder to yourself about this because you did a great job with material that you had! ❤❤❤
If you still want a lot of volume for the skirt, this would look really great with an overskirt that's split down the front to reveal the tulip print. I think it'd be very cute in a solid orange, pink, or green with a velvet ribbon to tie it on.
The alternating hooks and eyes are a brilliant idea and make such sense. The alterations certainly lifted the garment to your style and fit; very cute.
If you feel you won't wear the dress as is, consider adding godets (like the bust triangle pieces) to the skirt using a left over fabric from another project. Using another smaller print or a solid toning fabric can work well. I have just done something similar and am much happier with the fuller skirt. This does look lovely on you as is, but if you are not happy or comfortable, try adding more width. Interfacing will bring the lighter weight fabric more in line with the heavier skirt and works well. Good luck
You are so talented and determined. True role model. A ruffle edge at the bottom would make dress look softer, more girly and more finished in my opinion.
I like it with the longer look . The bust adjustment was good. Having to much gathering at the waist with heavier fabric can make you look thicker around the waist. On heavier fabric keeping gathering or pleats to a minimum is better and gets a more professional result. All in all the durndel is really really pretty. I could see this with a white blouse for later in the spring.
I honestly feel like a voluminous skirt would feel very heavy, perhaps overwhelming, with such a big print and the firmer hand of that fabric. That I think will soften a bit over time and with wear to a point that the drape will feel maybe more swooshy. It is lovely and looks fantastic with that bright goldenrod jumper. Like wow.
This fabric is beautiful. I'm looking forward to tulips in bloom. 🌷 In the winter I enjoy wearing a longer skirt underneath shorter, simpler dresses to give more visual volume, and actual warmth. My favorite closet combo is a skirt with a ruffle on the hem under somewhat fitted dresses for a mermaid effect. I wonder if creative layers might be able to give you the volume you want on the bottom!
Very nice Dirndl, indeed! Good job! I always like to watch your videos on weekends. If you're going to add a apron, there's a tip to keep it traditional if you like to wear it that way someday: place the bow between the middle and your right side, maybe where the the appendix would be. There's a meaning of the placement of the bow in Bavaria, right means your married or taken (other placements mean "Single", "Junior" or "Widow"). Greetings from Germany ;)
Amazing dress and I'm so happy you got an every day dress out of that lovely fabric. I like both versions, but I do think the longer one , also with a small belt of some kind, looked very sophisticated on you. Also the dirndl length is usually below the knee or ankle length which I thought was very flattering because you're quite tall and narrow. Anyway you look beautiful and very happy in the final version and I liked it as well❤
I love that fabric but I'm unable to find it anywhere. I'd probably make a few corsets and a blazer (if I ever get my hands on it). I really like the dress. It's pretty, and I like the shorter version better. 💖
I love this project, simple yet very wearable. At the moment I am obsessed with dungaree dresses over a sweater. Maybe you could make one in a future video 😁 Best wishes 🍀
Agreed... the green ribbon finishes it off nicely, but I have to disagree with you on the end product. I think it is sweet. youthful , and you look lovely in it. Have an exceptional day!
Hey!
When i reuse patterns that i have used before I slip one of those lined index cards (recipe cards) into the pattern envelope after I make a note of the date, the garment that I made with this pattern, changes I made or would make next time. In my case I also have a column that is who I made it for. I need this last one as I sew for my children, my grandchildren and my great grandchildren sometimes using patterns for the youngest that I bought to use for my oldest.
Thank you for showing the alterations, it’s always so useful to see how others problem solve! The dress turned out lovely and I can see it styled in so many different ways. I think the A line skirt suits your figure beautifully ❤
Super cute! I like full skirts too, but I think the fact that yours sticks out/flares at the bottom helps to make it still look nice, even if it isn’t too full.
Congrats on the stash busting! That's one of the hardest things for me to do. Btw, for the glittery surfaces, use a lint roller over them. That or using masking tape to pick up the glitter pieces helps a bunch.
Good morning! I so enjoy watching you create! I used to make "something from nothing" when I was younger and this really takes me back. I've moved on to paper crafting now and use my sewing machine to (don't hate me) sew on paper and create journals. TYFS your process - I think your dress looks wonderful! Hugs from the southern California desert, MK 🤗❤️🤗
Beautiful work Lucy, and good on you for keeping at it :) A question, would you ever consider making a dress from Rosery Apparel? I could SO see you in a Hazel or a Daisy :)
I really love that you showed how you fixed tje things you didn’t like so much, it’s very hard for me to feel motivated to fix the things I don’t like with my projects but you are very inspiring so thank you :) also the dress is so lovely!
I think it turned out realy cute, but if it turns out you don't wear it, you could turn it into a cute apron where you gather al the skirt pannels in the front, it would be such a cute gardening apron!!
Such a good way of getting through that stash fabric, I love a dirndl dress! You could potentially add godets using other fabrics from the stash which go with the tulip fabric? then you could make the skirt more voluminous and use more of your scrap fabrics
If you have any of the contact paper left that you used to cover your desk it might work to get the glitter off your ironing board. I don't sew these days due to lack of spare time so I love watching you go through the process!
I think the top is perfect with this fabric, but for the bottom, I feel like if this was flowy, it would have looked even better, and as you said, a little volume as well
Love this. Turned out so lovely. Also, your workspace is suffering from a terrible case of what I like to call the "Devil's Pixy Dust aka Glitter Pox". Yep... it's a serious thing in the crafting world.
Maybe you can make the skirt on another fabric and use the tullip one on top like an apron. Or combine the two together making stripes or something like that to gain the volume you miss 🤔
Hello! I've had this idea for a while of making a layered sun dress entirely out of cute receiving blankets. Do you think that would be possible? There are some really cute florals that I think could go well together
I love when you show how you fix the garment to make it wearable and to your preference. I’d like to see you revisit old projects and fix them, like your lavender dress from last spring, which I loved but I remember you being not too happy with the result. It would be nice to see now that we’re heading into spring :)

I love this new development of you going back to fix mistakes! It turned out so pretty!
That dress looks amazing on you!!

i love dirndl!! i'd be half-tempted to separate the skirt and the bodice and wear them separately--the bodice is bomb!!
You are so talented and determined. True role model. A ruffle edge at the bottom would make dress look softer, more girly and more finished in my opinion.

It’d be super cute either way but I think the a-line skirt makes it chic and modern looking.
Love it!

i feel like this dress will help you overcome that bias you say you have against its silhouette cause at least in my opinion, it's gorgeous

Love the changes! I do agree with you that it would be cuter with more skirt flow, but it is really cute!

This is gorgeous 😍 please please please don't ever stop making sewing videos 💗

I do this too!
Thank you for showing the alterations, it’s always so useful to see how others problem solve! The dress turned out lovely and I can see it styled in so many different ways. I think the A line skirt suits your figure beautifully ❤
I love this dress on you! It does look very 70s, and it fits you soooo well. Tell your brain that this time there doesn't need to be a full skirt.
Super cute! I like full skirts too, but I think the fact that yours sticks out/flares at the bottom helps to make it still look nice, even if it isn’t too full.
Slas and inserts are weird! But now you know how much you need! Cute lil dress, very cheery for a grey day.
Congrats on the stash busting! That's one of the hardest things for me to do. Btw, for the glittery surfaces, use a lint roller over them. That or using masking tape to pick up the glitter pieces helps a bunch.
I like the a linetype skirt it was really beautiful ❤️
It's adorable just the way it is.💖
I love the dress! Super cute! 🥰 both tops go so well too. 👍🏼
I think it may work with godets of a complementary fabric alternating with the panels of the skirt to give it more volume!
The spice girls ruler made my day 😅💖
I think it came out great, def a dress you can dress up or down. Would look great with boots

Your hair looks so cute!
Making the skirt 1/2 shorter can give you twice the width for more volume. A brown belt would look cute as well!!
OMG pretty dress 👍
I love it! Everything about it!
I really love that you showed how you fixed tje things you didn’t like so much, it’s very hard for me to feel motivated to fix the things I don’t like with my projects but you are very inspiring so thank you :) also the dress is so lovely!

I ADORE your Spice Girls ruler 😂😍
Omg the Spice Girls ruler! I had the exact same!
You can make an apron too, it'll look so good
You can get rid of the glitter with the sticky lint roller for clothes 🙂
Such a cute dress, I LOVE dirndl too! Definitely need to get on some stash busting~.
Very Cute, it looks really nice on you, love the gold sweater with it.
Get a swifter mop to clean all hard floors. And glitter is better clean with damp mop with pad to throw away
Very pretty 😀
Ah, glitter. The herpes of arts and crafts. Never rid of them.
Great project! And love your spice girl ruler.😊

Omg I love the Spice Girls ruler 😂
🐢 Dress turned out great!!!! 🐢
I love this dress! I think you did a fabulous job!
I think the top is perfect with this fabric, but for the bottom, I feel like if this was flowy, it would have looked even better, and as you said, a little volume as well
Very cute!
Love this. Turned out so lovely. Also, your workspace is suffering from a terrible case of what I like to call the "Devil's Pixy Dust aka Glitter Pox". Yep... it's a serious thing in the crafting world.
I explained to my mom at Xmas that glitter is craft store herpes and she almost fell over laughing :D
i had the same spice girls ruler 😭❤
I was just wondering where you got your dissolvable fabric marker? (I'm Dutch as well so a physical store also works)
I love it! It’s so gorgeous!
Have you thought of making godets out of any extra material/ the hem you cut off?
Maybe you can make the skirt on another fabric and use the tullip one on top like an apron. Or combine the two together making stripes or something like that to gain the volume you miss 🤔
Did I just see you use a Spice Girls ruler? Lol love it!
I do LOVE your idea for a transitional outfit, It looks fantastic.
Check on regency stays and you Will see how to add the breast pieces neatly.
It’s lovely! Where can I find a similar pattern?
Hello! I've had this idea for a while of making a layered sun dress entirely out of cute receiving blankets. Do you think that would be possible? There are some really cute florals that I think could go well together
I don't see why not! As long as the fabric weights of all the blankets are similar it should work :)
awww.. so cute. :)
What is the knitting pattern for you jumper? I love it!❤
I would just shorten it to be a mini and it would be much more modern - like 60's inspired and cute with colored tights
Love the dress, but I wouldn't define this as scraps.
I made this pattern and the bust area has always gaped on me. even after making alterations like the pattern suggests for a perfect fit. oh well 🤷♀
Why not fit a contrasting front panel as an „apron“ and then you can gather the skirt for a fuller look at the back?!
Was that a spice girls ruler?
I think if you took the back off it would be a cute apron.
That dress is pretty 80s who did the rest❤😂
awe you didnt keep the captions where it replaced dirndl with turtle lol
😊😊😊😊
I love when you show how you fix the garment to make it wearable and to your preference. I’d like to see you revisit old projects and fix them, like your lavender dress from last spring, which I loved but I remember you being not too happy with the result. It would be nice to see now that we’re heading into spring :)
