Parking in a slot is something most people can do (but not all!). Parallel parking baffles many, although if you actually learn a simple procedure it's not that difficult.
I once drove a Ford Focus with automatic parking. It was very impressive. Although not essential for a car of its size, the fact that you can get your parallel parking right first time takes the stress out of parking; especially when you a see a queue of impatient drivers in your rear view mirror, waiting for you to park yourself out of their way.
Great car and nowadays a reasonable second hand vehicle. When she mentioned 1983, it’s clearly a reference to the mk3 Escort, a huge success in the uk for ford.
I own a 2013 Focus, recently found out that actually you can lift the "seat" of the back seat and then when you fold down the back it is complete flat, which gives larger boot sapce
I always thought the self parking systems were an unnecessary addition until my mother started looking for a new car. So few vehicles have them and they are very handy for older people who my be getting arthritic.
It's the same on quite a few new cars it's saves money because the rear brakes aren't that that important for stopping a relatively light FF car like this,it's the fronts that do most of the work
That's true but I think that in a car that costs more than 20.000€ it's very sad that they have to save costs in what basically is safety. Ok, it will stop the car in quite a short distance, but drum brakes fade very quickly and combining that with a loaded car... I don't want to know how things will turn out after a few hard brakings. And by the looks of them, they aren't even ventilated. Even my 99' Lancia Delta features that!
Unless you're driving an especially high-performance car, you don't really need anything but drum breaks at the rear, particularly if you have fairly effective discs at the front. Whilst obviously they use represents something of a cost saving measure for carmakers, at this point they're mostly used because of the weight saving they represent. It's all about efficiency!
If you think the Focus has a small boot, order the Focus with the Titanium handling package (and Ford throws in a full-size spare), which raises the boot height a good 1.5-2". Ford got rid of that handling package for North America for 2017, though.
Wow I´m impressed Ginny. This was a very fun review! I´m not even allowed to drive yet. I´ve watched pretty much all Carbuyer video´s though :) Can't wait till I get my license but it's so expensive in Europe :c
I knew she'd grow into the role once she got a bit of practice. Sure, first few videos were a bit awkward but she has found more of a groove. Who wouldn't be nervous filming knowing that you were about to get all kinds of negative comments! Anyway, this review is much better and thankfully now we can go back to discussing the cars not the presenters!
Anyone watching in the US or Canada, PLEASE call or write Ford Customer Service. Tell them we want the new generation Fiesta and/or Focus hatchbacks with manual transmission option in the U.S./Canadian market. If all their customers are telling them, they'll listen and bring us BACK these best-in-class driver's hatches. Thank you for your support in this petition effort!
How can you confuse people by saying "plastics of front seats are hard..." Really? We have 2014 focus and 2014 golf and they are very good or nearly equal at material quality. They both have hard plastic sides of the front seats! This is not the first time. When Rebecca reviewed the station focus (titanium), she touched and said "plastic that covers key area is hard" Seriously? If you want to get a car with fantastic plastic quality you can 5 or7 series, e or s class and car like them. By the way there are hard plastics on e class too !!!
Ginny seems to be far more engaging, enthusiastic and passionate in her reviews as of late...She should keep it up...In the early days, she sounded like she was just reading from the script in a boring way...
just all the bragging about the drum brakes speaks for the fact it is an image question, not a question of safety. what I as a consumer am interested about is braking distance and handling under full braking (moose test result), not whether the car uses discs, drums or magic to stop itself. so many people drive proudly cars with disc brakes even though they have archaic torsion bar suspension instead of more advanced and safer multi-link, because they just don't understand it. ford was always a leader in question of handling.
The assisted parking is just great ? I mean if its there itt will prevent many many parking crashes ? and like my grandmother says "It will do the job for me and I can park without hesitation" 86 Y.O
Did she make a test, if it's still save for her to drive at all? No system will help her to turn her head to watch for traffic or to judge distance to other cars...
Yes! Of course I mean we are not stupid. She is healthy in tip top shape goes for a walk everyday at winters she likes to go cross county skiing and with her sight the eye doctor said that she could drive a lorry. Only thing she likes is that she can park where the car fits with that system (before the parking space needed to be bigger so she was able to park in it because she hesitated her parking skill) and it now easy for her to park the car.
Yes you operate the clutch. Seems like the system would just cause unnecessary additional clutch wear compared to parking the damn thing yourself. Especially for vertical parking spaces, like she said if you can't park you shouldn't have a license. Such a waste of money too just inflating the price of the car. I'd rather pay 2000 less and have a practical economy car. That is, if Ford was the last car company in existence.
what's the Ford Focus 1.6 125 Zetec 5dr Powershift like ? i have a astra was looking to get a golf but this caught my eye saw one today on the road in was like oh i like front id get a focus rs but waste of money for a everyday work car
I own a 2017 Titanium Focus. On long spins I do get occasional leg and bum ache....it seems the base on the Titanium spec seats is more inclined than on Zetec models...has anyone else found this?
Nope , I have a 67 plate titanium x and it's the most comfortable focus I have owned out of the 3 I have had . 99 plate zetec and an 06 titanium previously.
All these British car reviews talk about some incredible mpg: this vehicle 74 mpg!!!! Is this correct? I've seen other British cars with incredible mpg claims. Any insight here for me? Thanks.
I drive the non-facelift focus and the review doesn't mention anything about its two biggest drawbacks: the terribly cheap plastics used throughout the cabin, and the overly firm seats both in the front and the back. Also, why did they change the front and the rear so that it looks as much as the fiesta as it possibly could? It makes it look cheaper overall in my opinion. About the drum brakes, the non-facelift uses disk brakes both front and rear in titanium spec, so this is definitely unacceptable as it gives less braking force and is much more prone to fade and dirt buildup (specially in hot countries). If they're going to cheap out they better do it on something not related to safety.
Fanatical about Cars And Shiba Inus Oh okay, just wondering what brand it was. I only ever knew about Dacia from Top Gear because I'm from the US. It just looks oddly interesting.
Jeff Crouch The only solution so far seems to buy programmable win6.0 dash in China. My friend did and it worked perfectly. But still it is not stock dash :-(
exactly like the presenter says "if you can't park it yourself then you shouldn't be driving a car on the road" looks like its got bigger with more gizmos and crap on it, with tiny engines that you need to thrash to make it move.
Sorry but I think the Golf match is better buy! Has all the equipment you want, stronger engine and will be better resale. Plus you £1250 towards it which you dont get that much with Ford.
absolutely agree on those self parking systems...if you can't park, especially a small car, you should not have a driving license!
Parking in a slot is something most people can do (but not all!). Parallel parking baffles many, although if you actually learn a simple procedure it's not that difficult.
"If you can't do this yourself, you probably shouldn't be having a driver's license". True!
Ford nailed it with this model since 2014 , the looks are great , I'd buy it any day
The Focus was released in 1998...
I was going to say... 1983? Seriously!
You're right! This is a unforgivable mistake in a specialize program! 1983??? Focus??? What the ... !
Weird thing indeed. I was born in 1983 and Focus wasnt' there :D Back in the day it was a Ford Escort in sweet red color though.
Major fail!!
Lol, I thought it was some time in the 90s. Maybe she's thinking of the Taurus or something, lol.

Love the Focus! Can't wait to get my MK3 1.0T Ecoboost in Candy Red! I love the Zetec with appearance pack!
I really like Ginny!
Me too 👍
She's the best!
Me too. And by the looks of the like/dislike bar it seems like the Rebeccatards are getting over her, too
trueleech I was one of those :P lol
roxoleto fuck you for being one of those and wlecome to the Good Fellas group lol.
Ginny, your reviews are improving. Keep it up!!
Great car and nowadays a reasonable second hand vehicle. When she mentioned 1983, it’s clearly a reference to the mk3 Escort, a huge success in the uk for ford.
Ginny has definitely improved since she started. The videos are pretty good now.
I own a 2013 Focus, recently found out that actually you can lift the "seat" of the back seat and then when you fold down the back it is complete flat, which gives larger boot sapce
Thorough and pleasant review! Thank you Ginny!
I always thought the self parking systems were an unnecessary addition until my mother started looking for a new car. So few vehicles have them and they are very handy for older people who my be getting arthritic.
Drum brakes at the rear? What!? In a car this class and this day!?
Oh God! I didn't notice but you're right. I'm surprised..
It's the same on quite a few new cars it's saves money because the rear brakes aren't that that important for stopping a relatively light FF car like this,it's the fronts that do most of the work

Since 1983? Focus was first launched in 98?
I have the 2016 base model trend hatch and I love it -it is truly a brilliant car for the money
How was the transmission please ?
@@yanishppt transmission is fine as they changed them from 2016 onwards.
Very smooth
Great reviewer! Excellent quality review.
Wow I´m impressed Ginny. This was a very fun review! I´m not even allowed to drive yet. I´ve watched pretty much all Carbuyer video´s though :) Can't wait till I get my license but it's so expensive in Europe :c
I can't wait for the Ford focus RS releases too Sweden . I will order it directly when it comes out
I knew she'd grow into the role once she got a bit of practice. Sure, first few videos were a bit awkward but she has found more of a groove. Who wouldn't be nervous filming knowing that you were about to get all kinds of negative comments! The first Ford Focus launched in 1998, how can they have sold 1.9 millon since 1983?
Ginny, sweetheart, the Focus was introduced in 1998. How on Earth did Brits bought "1.9 million of them since 1983"?
Maybe counting Escorts?
emjayay The Escort was introduced in 1968. She's talking about "1.9 million Focus since 1983". That's wrong.
Baz Mac The Orion was just an Escort with a boot, and towards the end of the Escort's life, the Orion was badged as an Escort.
Ricardo Lourizela I
Erm...the Focus went on sale in Europe in 1998. Not 1983.
i'm glad the viewers are now getting used to and have accepted this new presenter, there i s less hate now on the comments
McLaren Coupé 12C In silver 😍
👍
Pretty sure it's a 650S and not a 12C
It looks boring so i think it is 12c.
Ayrton Atif Google "McLaren 12C rear" and then Google "McLaren 650s rear", 650s looks a bit different
Laith Al-Azawi nope im not gona google it a petrolhead is suppose to be able to tell from their own imagery memory. Cheers for gogle advise though
What a great review. Ginny really covers all the important things that every car buyer should know.
3:35 best statement ever. What's the point of an automatic parking system if I have to stay in the car? Well said, Ginny!
Is the number plate indirectly telling us something?? EX64 HGE = EXCHANGE?
nice review! loved it!
I really enjoyed your video professionally shot and mounted! And the review itself is quite detailed. Thank you!
Nicely done review
Common faults are water leaking into the foot well from heater unit hose and the bushings on the front wishbones fail fairly quickly.
How was the automatic transmission?
Tryed golf and Astra and cupra keep going back to focus best one out of all of them
Great car! Even in 2023 🎉
How can you confuse people by saying "plastics of front seats are hard..." Really? We have 2014 focus and 2014 golf and they are very good or nearly equal at material quality. u folded the seats wrong, u were suppose to pull the seat up first and then down with the back rest
I've always liked the Focus, but I can't see myself ever getting one. I'd always prefer one of the rivals, potentially more upmarket.
4:00 that dacia looks much better :)
Ginny seems to be far more engaging, enthusiastic and passionate in her reviews as of late...She should keep it up...In the early days, she sounded like she was just reading from the script in a boring way...
Good review.
1983, seriously! The Focus came to the UK in 1998
Totally agree about drivers needing to show comptenence behind the wheel. Far too many nervous, distracted, selfish drivers out there.
You have not added the Sony stereo though
How is the power shift version? Are the automatic version any good ??
Still don't know if I like the new front design...
Me too!.
just all the bragging about the drum brakes speaks for the fact it is an image question, not a question of safety. what I as a consumer am interested about is braking distance and handling under full braking (moose test result), not whether the car uses discs, drums or magic to stop itself.

Is that a good choice of engine😮
Do you need to press throttle in automatic parking?
The assisted parking is just great ? I mean if its there itt will prevent many many parking crashes ? and like my grandmother says "It will do the job for me and I can park without hesitation" 86 Y.O

***** Well, in this case: Great ;-)
can we get reviews of cars that are mid range or entry level? The ones that sell the most of? Instead of range topping models.
They might do a cheaper version with drum brakes all round ?
since 1983???!! The first Focus was released in '98.
I don't understand assisted parking on manual ?? Do you need to engage clutch your self or the car do that as well !!??
Yes you operate the clutch. Seems like the system would just cause unnecessary additional clutch wear compared to parking the damn thing yourself. Especially for vertical parking spaces, like she said if you can't park you shouldn't have a license.
Such a waste of money too just inflating the price of the car. I'd rather pay 2000 less and have a practical economy car. That is, if Ford was the last car company in existence.
Emerald13 hehe ..i do know how to park my car with my eyes closed lool just wondering how its work with a manual and clutch ...cheerz buddy
wasn't referring to you specifically. Cheers!
what's the Ford Focus 1.6 125 Zetec 5dr Powershift like ?
i have a astra was looking to get a golf but this caught my eye saw one today on the road in was like oh i like front
id get a focus rs but waste of money for a everyday work car
God awful gearbox
This is the first review from Ginny that I like.
They may not be the most wow cars but you can't bate a Ford!!! 👍🏼
Everybody talks about the McLaren from that car park , but nobody about the good news: Dacia Sandero :)))))
Anyone notice the McLaren in the car park?
I was about to say disregard the random McLaren that was parked in the background
i`d go with the golf all day long.
Anyone else see that beautiful looking mclaren at the back? 2:46 haha
99 plate zetec and an 06 titanium previously.
glove box, centre armrest, cup holders, etc, those are things we expect in carbuyer reviews
And also where to put a banana. I think that was only for rebecca as she knew very well where to put hm between her legs.
+Ayrton Atif Without Rebecca you wouldn't even know where to put your banana and I'm sure you already forgot.
Sirion she actually gave me an idea about banana used as a toy
Since 1983?!?!
whats the brand of jacket she is wearing
1983 don't recall that, strange!
+thebox228 yeah thats quite a mistake XD
What's with the drums at the rear???
Which is more reliable a focus or a bmw 1 series?
All these British car reviews talk about some incredible mpg: this vehicle 74 mpg!!!! Is this correct? I've seen other British cars with incredible mpg claims. Any insight here for me? Thanks.
Ehh why drum brakes on the top model in UK? My Russian 2008 Ghia has discs in the back. So did the two 2015 titaniums I rented in Canada
0:11 secs - "...1983..??" Wasn't that the "Escort?"
I drive the non-facelift focus and the review doesn't mention anything about its two biggest drawbacks: the terribly cheap plastics used throughout the cabin, and the overly firm seats both in the front and the back.

If they're going to cheap out they better do it on something not related to safety.
Even though she has gnarly old granny hands with black sparkly nail-polish... I'd still give her one.
Hocus pocus, there’s pizza on your focus! 😂
There was no ford focus in 1983... They went on sale in 1998...
Since 1983?
Anyone else notice the sneaky McLaren in the background during the parking demonstration?
I also did it was Silver MP4 12C as Clarkson would say a car named after a fax machine.
What is better??? Mazda 3 or ford focus???
very nicely done by Ginny this time.
Can someone please tell me what the car is beside the Ford Focus when it parallel parked. Please
Dacia Sandero
***** Thanks. I was very confused and mildly interested.
+Fanatical about Cars And Shiba Inus
Yes ,ur right i saw now :D sorry for wrong information
Fanatical about Cars And Shiba Inus Oh okay, just wondering what brand it was. I only ever knew about Dacia from Top Gear because I'm from the US. It just looks oddly interesting.
***** Oh it's alright, people make mistakes sometimes, all is good with the world. Have a nice day! :)
those fingers 5:38
She is the best!
I want 8 inch screen update in my 2014 Focus! :/
+DonPedro6901 Wish I could too, but apparently the car ECU will not recognize it. The dealers around me have no clue how to code it in.
Jeff Crouch The only solution so far seems to buy programmable win6.0 dash in China. My friend did and it worked perfectly. But still it is not stock dash :-(
Would it work with the controls on the steering wheel and could I use a stock dash face? I have seen those and some android ones too.
Smart comment on parking!!!!! And, what's with those pathetic rear breaks?
the park assist will have a good use in Russia, no offense!
1983? no 1998; btw the biggest selling car in the world now, a nice looking car in that metallic grey
location
Focus or Astra ?
Focus
Try both of them, really. You can't go wrong with either, but you'll likely enjoy one more than the other.
Focus
Focus
There is a mclaren in the background just before she parks the car
How reliable are Ford Focus ?
+Tom Jardine slightly above average
Better than Rover
exactly like the presenter says "if you can't park it yourself then you shouldn't be driving a car on the road"
looks like its got bigger with more gizmos and crap on it, with tiny engines that you need to thrash to make it move.
3:20: Dacia Sandero, approved by Lemmy... NOT!
Yooka: He adds the "not" because it’s a Logan MCV, not a Sandero. In fact, not a single Dacia is approved by Lemmy.
Is it me or is Ginny making more fun reviews?
McLaren in the background at 3:00
DRUM BREAKS ???? You kidding me !
it now looks a LOT like the fiesta
Sorry but I think the Golf match is better buy! Has all the equipment you want, stronger engine and will be better resale. Plus you £1250 towards it which you dont get that much with Ford.
U muppet. The focus was released in 1998 not 1983. Never the less the focus is a great car.
1.9 million since 1983?! What planet is she on? The Focus came out in 1998
