Don't forget to visit F.A.S.T. Museum at Farnborough, it takes only 1£ and it's stricktly kept by volunteers with quite a lot of interesting things on their collection such as Concorde models for the wind tunnel tests a Whitle engine and outside some test aircraft that on sunny days have open cockpits with volunteers always there to tell you more about them.
Just come across this video, the air show was every year to start with and went every other year roundabout the 80s or 90s can not remember, as it clashed with the Paris air show, I have been going to the show from the late 60s and still enjoy it, if anyone is interested FAST have a RUclips channel that show a lot of the research that went on there, a great video.
Hey mate...I'm from Melbourne and live right near Farnborough. Don't know if you're ever going to do another vid regarding Farnborough, but if so and you ever need some footage, let me know....happy to help
One can't speak about Jet Engines and not mention Hans von Ohain. Ohain's jet engine was the first to fly operationally within the He 178 aircraft in 1939, which was followed by Frank Whittle's engine with-in the Gloster E28 in 1941, two years later...
I went to the show in I believe 1978. It fantastic. Concorde was the star and the B747 was there as well. I stayed at my Grandmothers place on boundary road.right on the flight path for RW24. I remember when concorde arrived, it was beautiful and load compared to the B747. The loadest aircraft though seemed to be the Harrier jumpp jet which suprised surprised me. The show was fantastic and it still ha photos of the concorde and other aircraft. To bad that public day is just Friday from now on. The show has been shortend by 2 days from what I understand.
Interesting when you mentioned the Comet’s problems even when solved damaged the British aircraft industry behond repair might not Boeing’s problems and damaged reputation could do the same, new Boeing’s coming off the production line today might not have the ‘gold’ standard that they once had, interesting.
Who holds the copyrights to the show at Farnborough? Many RUclips sights show footage of the show--many different types and brands of aircraft. It is the airlines, manufacturer's, or the show itself. It seems you have shown lots of footage of both Farnborough & Paris. I'm confused. Please advise.
May I know what is the context of putting Biman Bangladesh 787 on the thumbnail? I am very curious to know. For the rest, its a great piece of video as always
In case anyone's interested or didn't know already, the 'fighter jet' that crashed in 1952 was the de Havilland DH110, 2nd prototype. After a supersonic fly-past (legal back then), it turned back towards the flight line when the wings delaminated. Most of the deaths were caused by one of the engines which crashed into the crowd.
As a teenager and wannabe photographer I was lucky to be mentored by a real professional of the time. He took me along to stand just off the centre line at the approach end of the main runway for a stream takeoff of 12 Lightnings. That's the Farnborough I will remember. Sadly I was also there when the Breguet Atlantiqe crashed.
Is Airbus the only aircraft manufacturer that will be present in Farnborough? It seems that way ! Not only do you splatter Airbus all over your videos but today you had the audacity of playing down Boeings great contributions to aviation during its 100 years and also made a slight attempt to put down United States as a pioneer in aviation as a whole . You can do a better job !
Can I remind you the Pioneers are 2 ex RAF fighter jet pilots From Manchester UK ALcock and Brown they flew Canada Newfoundland to Ireland non stop And won the prize as the first ever Aviators to cross Atlantic. You can google it. Also UK is the birthplace of the low cost Airlines I suspect that’s why JD is here all the history is here. Sir Freddie laker was the first UK to US passenger Airline but BA tried to put him out of Business he settled out of court. When Stelious of EasyJet got money from his rich. Dad he set up EasyJet. Freddie Laker was overheard telling Stelious if BA try to stop you sue the B----S. Sir Freddie retired abroad and Stelious started Easyjet a great success. Stelious still holds Majority of shares. He’s recently launched flights to Jordan there is no stopping this guy as Bad Boys BA found out. Boeing was not known in early Aviation but I have to say I always thought the Jumbo was the queen of the skies and is still an iconic plane👨✈️🇺🇸🇬🇧🍀✈️👩✈️💗🌎
@@elaineblackhurst1509 Good try. You are right that Laker Skytrain tried the 1st low cost model but did not succeed. The next attempt that was successful and copied by both Ryanair and Easyjet is Southwest airlines from the US. Regarding Stelios. He is no longer actively involved in Easyjet other than as a large shareholder. He does not own the majority of shares. He owns 11.7% and his sister Clelia owns 11.0%. He no longer makes any decisions on behalf of Easyjet. He does however own the rights to the "Easy" brand separately. Regarding Boeing, they have had many iconic aircraft going back to their origins in 1916. In WW2 their B29 Superfortress dropped the A-bombs on Japan. You would benefit from a little reading up before commenting on here. I must say that I didn't know that 2 of my fellow Mancunians of yesteryear held the 1st Atlantic crossing prize!!
Once you stop the public from having an amazing experience and don’t forget it was only every 2 yrs you have destroyed the place..’ farnborough is lost now
Informative! Thanks for your efforts and sharing.

Thanks DJ, very interesting. We have stayed at the Aviator hotel at Farnborough, with an airside view room, several times and always enjoy it
As always brilliant and keeps me on my toes for more vlogs. Thanks DJ.
Love that you used Biman as the thumbnail! Been here since 3k subs. Love from Bangladesh❤️
Great content as always, keep up the great work!
I actually live in Farnborough. This is awesome

3:50 my Grandpa witnessed this, he doesn’t like to talk of it as it was such a horrible event. Rest In Peace to those who were killed 😢
Make a video for us on your way to London ...
Good video as usual 😁
Planning to be there next year

B roll 👍
Boeing stock downgraded to negative today. Need an update from your perspective on the situation. Cheers.
Doesn’t surprise me 🇬🇧✈️🍀👨✈️👩✈️
*Why is everyone saying first at this point?!* 😐
Biman Bangladesh 😍😍🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩
No one cares if you’re first
Oh and when 10 of you say first we know most likely you’re not
Maybe being the "first" commenter makes their dicks grow a tad bit!
I'm kidding! 😂😂😂

2:18 Big shot at American supremacy
No one cares if you’re first 😳
It’s not open to the public anymore, so it’s just another corporate “jolly”
And a small commercial airport
The script and delervy sound stilled
A330neo have much fatter engines than A330ceo. Looks much better

The Comet it’s wonderful aircraft except that it crashes?!
I hope you aren't advocating carte-blanche immunity from prosecution for aircraft builders and crews. The 737-Max is defective. Sue big. Big.
Yea I hope not nothing seems to be moving on the Max prosecutions causing endless suffering to the bereaved families🇺🇸👨✈️🍀✈️🇬🇧👩✈️💗🌍
