    In this video I talk to you about the importance of efficiency when using Fusion 360 or any CAD package in general. CAD is ultimately problem solving, and as you design something you should be constantly questioning yourself about whether there are better ways to do it. I kept this video pretty raw to show you my design process, and the types of design decisions I make along the way. I hope you enjoy. I think this will be especially useful for beginners who may be making a few of the common mistakes I mention in the video.

    Thank you for your teaching. I also do it for fun and I find it very satisfying to be able to make my own designs and 3D print them.

    Dude, I've spent weeks trying to find someone that produces F360 tutorials with the viewer in mind. Most of the guys that make tutorials (any type) seem to love hearing themselves so much and acting out a little bit after a while, that they forget that this becomes annoying in the end. Although, I still respect anyone who makes free tutorials - but then again, when you realise that they still produce videos for "absolute superbeginners" after 3 years, I'm pretty sure it's no longer about making great tutorials... But this right here, this is what a tutorial should be like. Will show my respect with a donation for now.

    This is really helpful and they apply to Inventor too.

    Nice work, try using the extrude symmetrical setting either overall length or length in either direction.

    To select items that aren't frontmost (like at 13:20 where you select the profile hidden by the body), do a left click and hold for about a second until the list of possible items to select appears. Can be useful for selecting edges for fillets. Great video, thank you.

    I would add the fillet in the sketch. That would take care of most of them. Great content!

    Thanks Gareth! Where are you at with FreeCAD vs Fusion? Will you continue to use both?

    Thanks for your great Tutorial, is there a specific reason why you use 2 sides for extrude? And not Symmetrical? In that way you could skip some steps like Mirror i think?
    Thanks i Subscribed!

    Wow, great video, I have learned a lot! Is there a reason why you are using "two sides" option when extruding instead of "symmetrical"?

    • @andreaudio
      @andreaudio 3 года назад

      Yes... The two sides aption allow you to set different lenghts in each side.

    were you going to add the taper to the teeth later on?

    • @thehardwareguy
      @thehardwareguy  3 года назад

      Yes but it makes printing more difficult!

    Wish Freecad was as easy as Fusion 360.

    I stopped watching at 4:57 when you missed some important steps out to get those angled lines.
