  • Folks are often confused about what is the correct surface to use for their tools. No one cutting surface is best for everything, so I show you the 3 different surfaces I use on a regular basis.

I have been trying to work out the best surface for working on for a while (I say while, I have only been in the hobby for 4-5 months), and its interesting to see you have different ones for different uses! I do most of my work at my desk, so have a heavy bit of flat metal as the base striking platform which has made a big diffrence, then been experimenting with other things on top of that.

Love seeing your pipe nail on the cutting board. That's where mine always ends up. Thanks for making these tool videos!

Good tips on cutting boards. I like using the softer rubber like the poundo board for my round knife.

I'll be honest, Bruce... I don't use a round knife much. However, I'm sure it helps preserve that blade! I'm honored you watched and commented.

Would the HDPE also be used for Sinabroks punches? Is the reason that the edge (sharpness) of the punch lasts longer? Thanks. Great video.

Yes, I would use tube type punches like those on the HDPE as well
