    i have to say a huge big THANK YOU!! for not using annoying music in the background, what a refreshing experience let me tell you. TIP>>>>to make the backside of the mold flat find a wooden rod (hobby section on Michaels or Hobby L) cut it to size and use it like a rolling kitchen pin but smaller...

      I absolutely agree about the music. It is my biggest pet peeve with RUclips videos. Music can either enhance a video or it can absolutely detract from it if you don't know how to use it masterfully then it's better to just not use it at all.

    Rub with a baby wipe while still in the silicone mold to remove those extra thin bits. Alex Plus is the caulk to use. I bought a case last time because its all I use for castings. Thank you SO much for spreading the word with this video!

      @@AndreaStevens2012 DAP Alex Plus in white. The clear stays too rubbery. And it doesn't mix well with the white nor will it stick to the white if you try to layer them. I ran out of white and finished filling the mold with clear, they wouldn't stay together.

    DAS Air Dry clay can be removed from the moulds when still wet and can be glues to a rounded surface. You can paint it after you have glued it to your project when still wet as well. DAS can crack but not as much as other air dry paint.

    I am thrilled to have just discovered your channel and this tutorial. I found this extremely helpful and the information and advice you offered are invaluable for making molds. Having tried air dry clay only so far, I was left disappointed in the cracking tendency when drying. The hot glue and silicone caulking are definitely "must tries" after watching your video. I love the fact that the silicone caulking is ideal for lace cake molds. Thank you so much.

    Hi. Thanks for the great tips. I’ve used the Mad clay and find it very brittle much to brittle to put on furniture. I’ve had it crack and chip on me. I’m wondering did I get a bad batch? I’ve used glue and resin also but love the clay for layering but unfortunately won’t use on furniture as it’s not robust enough. Could you recommend a clay that is? Someone suggested using a product called bondcrete on clay to attach it to wood but I’ve not tried this yet. I’d love your advice. Thank you.

      Not sure how well this will work for the lace, but it works for air dry clay that's still "wet".. I use "triple thick". I think if you paint it onto the surface in a thin layer, then lay down your molded piece, it should work great. I get it at Michaels.

    First time viewer here...this is a good video in terms of all the helpful tips you provide...but what's with the speed? Just from the title I assumed this would be a learning type vid therefore it is okay to take some time to explain &/or demonstrate. For example, using a rubber band to hold the clay in place is genius! You shouldn't rush through such tidbits...don't assume that all viewers know what you know...people who already know this info can either enjoy the refresh or not watch if they are concerned with the length. Hurrying through such content really is not helpful. Please consider slowing down a bit when doing tutorial type vids. Thank you for your consideration and for sharing your knowledge!

    • @annaorthodox4653
      @annaorthodox4653 Год назад

      You can adjust the playback speed in the Settings button on the bottom right of the video. So you can slow the video to 75% or 50% of normal speed.

    • @AndreaStevens2012
      @AndreaStevens2012 Год назад

      Yes, thank you...I am aware of how to control the playback speed, which I di. However, my point is, you still do not mention some of your movements, i.e. the rubberband. Again, brilliant idea, but you just put the band around the clay and jar and didn't say what you're doing or why. This is what I meant when I said, please don't assume that viewers know what you do. You might do this all the time, but it was a first for me. Anyhew, the actual speed of which you speak is not the issue, I was asking you to take time and explain details such as the band as you go...you know so much and since you're making vids, I assumed you wanted to teach. No worries. I'm sure you have plenty of followers and newbies like me are incidental. Thank you for replying. Best of luck!@@annaorthodox4653
