1. Buy a standard telecaster 2. Put a standard strat neck on it 3. Play this guitar Then a copy of this guitar gets sold for $12k. This is how great Clapton is and was.
Gotta say: Fender is really doing cool stuff these days with all sorts of vintage reissues and these awesome, faithfully recreated models from the guitar gods of mostly the 70s. Also great marketing, these videos are very well produced!
I recorded my first songs with a squire guitar..early 70's model. You can make great stuff if you know wich sound you want to archieve. Nice tele strat 😀🎸🎵
Jack Pearson still uses a stock Squier Bullet to this day. I personally have only American Strats but it's definitely true that if you have a bond with a guitar you can make it sound pretty much like anything you want to. Kingfish said his favorite Strat is a stock Mexican.
That is an amazing guitar. Truth be told tho, I was more enthralled by this guy talking about the history of it and the history of Clapton. He should do fender documentaries.
If I had the cash to fork for this, I would not find myself frowning over accusations made regarding Clapton associations (“This won’t make you sound like him.”;”He did not play a single Clapton riff.” etc) - to my ears, this Tele reproduces the vintage Fender tones I believe to be definitive even better than their recent, excellent vintage reissues. It is all very subjective (absolute objectivity is a myth) but little else ensures satisfaction and breeds an opinion other than subjectivity.
I even own a some kind of blind faith tele.Someone on ebay sold this for 150 bucks it must changed the Pickups but the strat mapleneck fretboard is damn bless and playing so damn smooth :) I'm happy that this unique guitar got a revival :D Greetings from the musician which hearing aids since childhood. Your Joe :)
Mike seems like a cool dude. Would love to grab some coffee and talk tatts, music and music history for a couple hours... Beautiful tele. Cool concept and Eric sure deserves all kinds of tributes...
Im just ordered a USA built Ash tele body. Im gonna get a Japanese AllParts 70's style maple neck with a bullet truss rod and slap it on that bad boy :)
Now Clapton used quite many guitars in Blind Faith. I saw BF at a concert in Gothenburg, Sweden, and he played a sunburst Les Paul into a single Marshall stack. Good sound, but far from the concerts with Cream I also saw.
Got 3 Strats and 3 Tele's, personally I prefer the necks on the Tele's. My 62 Tele reissue, now 29 years old, is one of the sweetest guitars I've ever owned.
If there is so much “missing information”, why didn’t someone ask Eric when they gave him a custom shop model? Lovely guitar and great playing in a very good presentation.
Everyone go out and build your own dream guitar through trial and error. Set up your strat! It’s a strat! Or whatever you have. Get it set up correctly if it’s not playing how you would like. Change the pickups. Save up for a refinish if you want a thin finish. Maybe you want to remove the finish on the back of your neck? The information is out there, musicians have been doing this for years before the custom shop theirselves 👋🏾
But Jimmy Page was actually a tele man before his house sitter butchered his guitar. He even kept to telecasters to record the Zep albums and went back to a black telecaster after Led Zep broke up
I'd like to see Fender make a re-creation of the John Lennon Telecaster he used at Madison Square Garden (W/Elton John), his last major live performance.
But the problem is... They may not find the actual guitar and they might have to base the guitar on the rare photos.... And if that happens, you can only wish they make a recreation of that tele
What are you talking about? Eric Clapton can afford a $12,000 guitar. Collector's editions are not meant for the general market anyway.... Here's a tip. Don't look and you won't have to complain.
I love all the complaining about how much this guitar cost..... They create collectors editions for a reason folks it's because there are people out there who are willing to pay that kind of money for it and the market's there for them. Most of people that I see on this thread complaining about the cost couldn't afford this in their wildest dreams anyway... Hey that's the way it works sometimes. I have 1 collector's telecaster and that's the Merle Haggard model and I enjoy it.
Yeah I actually remembered I had dropped 10 grand in my couch cushions and went ahead and bought this. I opted for the actual strings that Clapton used with Blind Faith and also to have him hand deliver it to me himself. It should be here any day now. I'll let you know how it works out.
For those of you complaining about the price tag, Fender Custom Shop is not the same as Fender. It is an offshoot, a premium brand versus the standard American and Mexican Fender models. Typically the artist has an input into the instrument, hence the high price tag. For example, the Dragon Tele models were hand painted by Jimmy Page himself. Fender also produced a more affordable version.
From the way Mike Lewis spoke about it, the body is just a standard 63-64 Tele + era-correct pickups anyway, nothing too hard for the Custom Shop to get right.
Thats a nice guitar👌 But no honest man and women can pay the price for it.However.I used to had a squier tele and i was puttin on a squier strat neck and it was great. It is interesting that the change of the neck can make such a difference to the sound of the guitar. If i had the money then i would go to a guitar builder, and i would make a Telecaster like this maybe also with a stratneck but with 3 Pick ups 》 Bridge Tele,Middle Strat, and Neck Humbucker with a five way switch and without those traditionel Tuners, they look great but i think the one that Fender uses on the Players series are much more better in my personal opionen.Okay it is all a question of money. And Fender Guitars like Gibson Guitars are still the greatest, but the price is too high. These Guitars are King Class that only Kings can buy. Put a Fender vintage bridge, change the wiring and with only 500-600 euros spent you have your EC Blind Faith Telecaster ! Later you can put some Fender Vintage 64 pickups. That's all !
"blind faith" if you believe anything it's possible even playing guitar like Eric clapton... Although in my opinion this particular telecaster and brownie stratocaster it self both of these they're not so good compared to other fender special models I think it's Eric hands and style, I saw him performing in a live concert and he definitely has a gift as he plays a regular fender it sounds so great
My understanding is Clapton’s guitars are built specifically for him by a master builder at Fender Custom Shop, so they’re not “regular” fenders, though the specs aren’t crazy or anything.
@@aaronmattis... I know they're not regular but if you see a brownie replica it's so simple like the old standarts from late 50's... What I mean it's Eric hands that make it sound so great
Y'know, i could spend that much money to get a look and sound like Clapton. Or! I could just buy a standard telecaster, buy a maple strat neck, and pick like, 60s pickups in it
When will it be possible for you to replicate the best guitar Eric Clapton ever had, Fender 1989 ??? Before Fender with Noiseless pickups, which ruined all the blues sound he made !!! When he had the guitar with the lace sensor gold, it was his best time, the best sound, the best pickups. Then somehow Fender was able to change everything for the worse putting the noiseless
Doesn't sound like fender got together with Clapton to make this limited series, but rather sounds like Fender simply guessed on the specs. Does not feel like an authentic product. The gentleman in the video doesn't even attempt to play a single blind faith riff... sorry Fender as much as I like the idea, it's just a Tele with a Strat neck. Nothing mythical or legendary here for $5k+
The price is a goddamn travesty. What is fender turning into Gibson and PRS and making guitars only available to older men? So over this pricing. You can find amazing guitars made by boutique builders that are far exceeding the quality of what is in the market by the big 3 at the price point now. Hand made by small shops and doing it right. This is Fender Custom Shop, not Fender. The custom shop is an off shoot of Fender, and is meant to be a premium brand. You are paying for one of the worlds best luthiers to recreate a historic instrument.
It took blind faith for them to make this guitar and expect it sale at that price when they just based it off of photo's and not the real guitar oml whatta joke forget tears in heaven I got them right here watching this idiocracy
What a rip off! Buy a new MIM stratocaster neck for about £180 and bolt it to a squier classic vibe tele body and you've got the same guitar. This is what annoys me about fender 😑
Josh Jones i thought this was just a one off thing that costs much because they’ll give most of it to the crossroads foundation. But true, it really really has a hefty price
Fender marketing and dog and pony show. Take a tele and screw some odd parts to it and create a fluff story about a mythical Clapton guitar and charge 12 grand. Now who's making big money and who's the sucker. Give me a break.
For the price the nut better be made out of Claptons Bones...
