  • Welcome to another Japanese Store Tour! This video is a full tour of a DAISO ¥100 Store, which many describe as a Japanese dollar store. The products are mostly ¥100, but some items cost between ¥200 to ¥500, with a few select items costing as much as ¥1,000.
    The products are bought wholesale from high-quality manufacturers, which allows DAISO to sell them for such a cheap price. But the items are of good quality, so you can use many of these things for years without them breaking.
    You can find almost anything you need in these stores, such as cosmetics, kitchen goods, pet supplies, DIY tools, stationery, and much more!
    DAISO has over 2,800 stores in Japan and over 2,000 more stores all around the world! Have you been to a DAISO before? Let me know!
    Please use the time stamps below (or on the video player timeline) to navigate to specific areas of the store.

    Fun story time. Once in university I had one of those mini shoe horns that I used and accidentally placed on the counter. I came back to my poor roommate using it as a spoon to eat his chocolate cake. I freaked out and slapped it out of his hands and told him what was up. Needless to say he freaked out and ran to the bathroom to brush his teeth. The end.

    More options than here in the states in one store how interesting! Many things will be out of stock here or there usually only a masculine, cutesy, or regular/neutral version of common items. For instance there are lunch boxes here but you will only find kids, floral print and a black one with no accessories. The rice paddle you will not find here unless in Asian mart like HMart. Our Daiso is the size of a Conbini store.
    The aisles remind me of Hobby Lobby and IKEA, the only places I’ve seen that have endless options for just one category 😸

      hehehe Yep! Virtual shopping tours. There are companies that provide real shopping experiences like this but it's live with someone. But I have no interest in doing that. Can't film/stream in many stores and I'm not trying to shop for other people and then mail their stuff. hahaha (unless the pay was reallllly good)

    I love Daiso, even visit the locations in the US. In Hong Kong I belonged to their shoppers' club at the HKIA as they had foods not available elsewhere. Many products are not available elsewhere and it was such a lovely memory of my living in Japan. The face stick is the same a those made of jade, rock as they help with circulation, tissue. The one with the knobby bits are good for circulation or breaking up cellulite. Common there and big bucks elsewhere. I still have the soap pumps from that store, also the toe socks. People use that eye tape in the US to deal with drooping eyes. The auto accessories are also nice. I have a hook that goes in my car to hold grocery bags, even bought them for friends. In the pet section the reflective cat collars last years. The dish clothes last 10 years and the only other place I've seen them in Taiwan. So many unique organizing items. Masks were available even pre C-19.

    I genuinely chuckled when you were talking about makeup and nail art (aka beauty stuff) with apparent bewilderment in your voice. As an adult female, those things still confuse me. Apart from some powder to cover up a perpetually shiny face (usually from sweat), I rarely go out in public wearing makeup. I've managed well enough into adulthood without wearing them. Why bother now!
    Thanks for the Daiso tour, Cory! A+ for the effort!😉

    I'm trying to catch up on my Cory vids. Seeing all the stores in the train station video made me remember that this was on my watch later list. I wish we had a Daiso store here and a Don Quixote.😊

      Oh nice! hehehe Glad you were able to catch up with this older video. Those two stores are definitely full of great products and decent prices. If I had a million dollars, I'd still buy all the cheap stuff. hahaha

    I love Daiso. I collect cat stuff. I have three Daiso stores nearby where I live in California. I haven't been to the third one yet because I just found out about it. The two that I've been to are tiny compared to even the smallest store there in Japan. When I get to a Daiso in Japan, I'm gonna need to set a limit on what I buy, or else I'll need to ship the stuff home or get extra luggage. I love your long videos. This is a great one. Very informative and entertaining...

    @9:15 ... there's roughly 80 *DAISO* stores in *America* w/ most of the stores in *California*
    the only other states they're located in are: *Washington* , *California* , *Texas* , *New York* , & *New Jersey*
    the one that opened up in my city of *Austin* , *Texas* is one of the newest ones (opened up at the end of 2020 i think)

    I buy a lot of things at Daiso here in Texas. The stores are not as big as in Japan, so don't have the same kind of variety, and the starting price for merchandise is $1.50 for things without tags.
    Thanks for reminding me I need some small screwdrivers, I think I'll stop by Daiso today.

    I am Japanese. I often go to a different name of 100-yen store located near my home in Yokohama. The prices of all 100yen items they sell come to "71 cents"
    based on a current exchange rate of 140Yen to one US dollar. It's so cheap that I alway wonder how much profit goes to the store per a single item they sell.

    Hi Cory, thank you for the video!
    One thing you will not find in other countrys are the tamagoyaki-pans. I really want one of those!
    And where you might find a nice and durable bento box?

    • @CoryMay81
      @CoryMay81  2 года назад

      You're welcome! Thank you for watching!
      I've seen the tamagoyaki pans in America before. My parents have one from Walmart, I believe.
      You can get some good, durable bento boxes in many places here, including the supermarket. Daiso is really good because they have a lot of variety to pick from.
      But you can also find them in many other places, like LOFT, Muji, other ¥100 stores like Flets and whatnot. Many varieties and qualities exist because many people use bento boxes for their lunches.

    There's a couple of Daiso Stores in northern California but they don't have many items compared to what you showed us. Never visited Daiso whenever I visit Japan just because they have branches worldwide, but watching this, Ill definitely drop by next time. Thanks for giving us a tour! for future store tours, I suggest Tokyu hands and/or Loft

    • @CoryMay81
      @CoryMay81  3 года назад +2

      Oh really? In northern Cali? I didn't know that. I'd recommend visiting some of the Daiso shops in Tokyo because they have a wider variety of cuter stuff. The one in my area doesn't have so many things like that, it's more practical stuff since it's just residential areas all around Matsudo. Thanks for the recommendation, the Tokyu Hands in Ikebukuro is really famous and it's closing soon!
      I actually walk by it in my latest video, before this store tour one. I dunno the closing date, though. Loft is cool too.

    Cory! 😷 I thought the entire store was wonderful! I'd love to shop there in person but shopping with you is fun and much much cheaper! 😄
    As for what I'd buy, I would probably be like you and carry things around, think again and then put them back. I do that all the time here in the states. I would definitely have gone out the door with some cute magnets and stickers though. And maybe some PLAIN M&Ms. 😆
    Much love and thanks to you as always for the big fun! 💜

    Cory, don’t worry too much with the single use plastic ware. I personally use, and reuse them until they’re in absolute tatters. I then recycle them. I also encourage my loved ones to do the same. We can’t fully eliminate single use plastics. In practical terms, I use these to send food with my loved ones who never return my containers. They’re greedy and steal. They usually lie, “Oh I’ll return it, don’t worry.” Four years later… it’s still in their cupboard. So, stuff like that… that’s when single use is smart and I encourage reusing. One day, we’ll all have a great recycle system like Japan has. 🧡🧡🧡🧡

      Yeah, I remember when Tower Records shut down in the U.S.
      Unfortunately, I don't really have any interest to film in a music store.
      The music in the store would also get the video flagged for copyright very easily.
      Thanks for the suggestion, though!

    I would like to go to a Daiso someday. I don’t know if it’s common to have the grocery store on the lst floor but that just adds to the coolness of the store. As someone who is addicted to shopping I would wander around both levels like an excited child. I noticed that there were no shopping carts available. That in itself would force me to limit my purchases. The Daiso is so different from the dollar stores at least in my area of Michigan. Here they are small, cluttered sometimes dirty & will often have items strewn on the floor left by lazy customers. And inventory that needs to be stocked & often blocks aisles. And oh yes clerks that are busy talking to each other rather than offering help. We do have many grocery items and frozen food items. But then you had a full grocery store there…. Lol. There are many nice items that I would buy at the Daiso. Anything with Hello Kitty & Pokémon, anything in the candy section that we don’t have here & different novelty items.. Thank you for the lengthy tour of a clean well organized store. Nice video thanks!

      @CoryMay81  2 года назад

      Sorry, Japan doesn't sell Barbies and there's no interest in Barbies here. The only places that might even sell it would be specialty shops and the prices would be crazy high for collectors. Your best bet for Barbie stuff is in America and online.
