I was 10 years old in 1994, and I can confidently say that life in the 90s was a whirlwind of excitement and wonder. Every day felt meaningful, and there was a palpable sense of joy in the air. Kids played outside until the streetlights came on, filling the neighborhoods with laughter and adventure. I had the unique experience of growing up between the electrifying buzz of New York City and the tranquil beauty of North Carolina, truly getting the best of both worlds.
The 90s were an absolute thrill ride. I remember the sheer exhilaration of playing on my Super Nintendo, then leveling up to the groundbreaking PlayStation 1. Action heroes like Jean-Claude Van Damme, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Bruce Willis lit up our screens, making every movie night an event to remember. Friday nights were legendary - we'd head to Blockbuster to rent the latest movies and games, then gather with friends and family for evenings filled with fun and laughter.
From the iconic sounds of dial-up internet to the magic of discovering new music on a mixtape, the 90s were a time of endless possibilities and boundless excitement. Growing up in this incredible decade was a true adventure, one filled with memories that will last a lifetime.

I turned 6 in 1994 and I remember seeing The Lion King in a drive in theater (first and last time!). I also had the movie soundtrack and knew how to use the cassette player and VCR all by myself. Growing up, my parents didn't have a lot of money but my brother and I never knew that because we had all the things we needed plus a little extra every now and then like a new video game, but only if we kept our grades up. The only people we could compare ourselves to were other kids in the area who also had the same things we did. No social media to make us aware of all the shit the rich kids had. What we had was enough and we were happy. I still carry this attitude into my adult life. The world tries to scare us with all the things that can go wrong, and all the things you don't have, but I maintain the sense of gratitude I learned to cultivate around everyday joys. In the 90s, my parents worked hard and taught us well.

Born 1993, when I was around 5/6 me and my family had to move to Germany, Osnabruck because my Dad was stationed there for being in the British Army. We stayed there until 2001. I can honestly say from what memories are still there in my head, are the best years of my life. If I could just relive those days, just for a few hours, I would be so happy.
I spend hours crying happy/sad tears on Google Earth Pro with the time machine of the maps. Seeing my old Primary School before it was demolished. Seeing the Army barracks my dad was at before that too was sadly demolished. Seeing my old childhood home which I haven't seen since we left 23 years ago.
It's even more saddening with how Germany's privacy laws are. Google Street view is practically none existent. So the buildings and the streets I fondly remember are mainly just these pixelated resemblances of buildings that I still vividly remember from my childhood but I can't see how are now or was a few years ago. I only have what I remember, and the odd remnants of videos here on RUclips which is extremely lacking and rare to find
Thankfully some time last year, Germany finally lifted those privacy laws for Google Maps Street view and i finally got to see my home again for the first time since we all left way back in 2001. I will be honest. I've never cried so much in such a long time. It was harrowingly different everywhere i looked around Osnabruck but I could also see things that haven't changed at all.
The walks we went on, the Warner Brothers Movie Theme Park down south near Dorsten. Pony rides in the woods and picking the oldest one there who was called Boris. I picked him all the time because he liked to eat the grass a lot which made the ride last longer so I could spend more time with him. The little & big lake walk just behind the Nettebad. The traditional Christmas Markets in the town centre. Playing video games when my Dad finally came home on my Playstation 1, we would try and beat the games in one day but never could because I didn't have a memory card. Getting excited whenever Pokemon was on the TV. Friends round mine to share the big swimming pool I had.
Watching Halloween Town before going out trick or treating. Finding our first ever pet, a kitten abandoned behind a grit bin while we were on a bike ride and taking her home, we named her Millie. So many memories. All lost to time. With only old VHS tapes & photographs to try and relive those memories at least just a tiny bit.
Oh what Id do just to go back to those days. Nostalgia is such a beautiful but cruel mistress. I hate to love it and love to hate it. I Miss you Osnabruck. I miss you childhood.
But. I have a daughter now, born Bonfire Night in 2022. Can't believe it's almost been 2 years with her already. And I honestly can not wait to be the best father I can possibly be. And to make everlasting memories with her that she can look back on and smile just as much as I do looking back at the ones I made with my Mum & Dad.
Oh Germany. Oh Osnabruck. Oh childhood. You were the best of days. I'll revisit you one day. With the whole family hopefully.

The first movie i remember seeing in theaters was '95s "Toy Story" with my great uncle and great aunt. The '3-D' CGI blew my mind. They both passed during the Covid pandemic. We haven't had a funeral or memorial for them yet. They took me to movies like "Pokémon 2000" and bought me the cards. They never had grandchildren of their own, but they always brought all the others kids gifts too when it was another's birthday. I miss them, even if they loved Nixon, Reagan, Bushes, and Trump.

Or just running around. Overstimulation with this new technology, having everything so readily available. We get so used to wanting things instantly. We must remember patience is a virtue.

Someday we will wake up and go hang out and throw the football in the streets with our friends while the cool fall breeze is blowing away the yellow leaves. Waiting for Mom to call out dinner and we have to go in

Born in '83, life has been a complete sh*t show since I was 17.
Hoping to get the courage to delete myself one day
I do not get notifications or come back to my comments because this is how I express my true feelings, on a f*cking RUclips video.
I'd ask to not write me however, if someone reads someone's comment one day, it might save a life.

Hello friend, would I be able to use the second song on this playlist to make a song? I am a singer/songwriter from Wales & I have had a wonderful idea for vocals for this track. I can even send you a demo of what I've done for my own personal use so far and you can see if you like it? It's beautiful. I am currently in Mali Haf's band, on a big TV production in the filming stages, working with some big Welsh producers like MINAS and others. This is my own personal production project. Of course you will be named on the track and can have royalties! Seraphyre xo

1995… Freshman in high school… Smoking pot and drinking with friends… skipping school and sneaking into my girlfriend’s house to rail her all day when her parents were at work… My first job at Burger King… Beavis and Butthead… MTV… My first concert seeing Pennwise at Lupos in Providence… X games in the summer there too.

@@RJ-vy9ch Ha, I joined the Army after I dropped out of high school and got a GED. She stayed back and hooked up with one of my good friends.
I traveled the world, went to combat three times, got injured, married, medically retired, and returned to school. After, I got a BS, an MBA, and now I'm very successful.
She stayed local, had some babies, and last I knew lived in a poor trash city and never amounted to anything.
      I dodged that bullet!
