Written a typical romantic ’baroque’ manner, this chorale prelude features delicacies such as double pedal and an ornamented cantus firmus. The left hand plays a two-part accompaniment consisting of mostly dotted rhythms that slowly move forward throughout the entire piece. The hymn is presented, phrase by phrase, by the right foot while the left foot plays a kind of ’pizzicato’ bass line, then always followed by the ornamented version of the same phrase in the right hand in a funny 16’+4’ tonal colour, where the pedals also change to a nice legato line.
