      @harrisonnguyen5430 they asked me to do it for flute/piccolo this year. Professors/Teachers from all over the state get asked to do it. We had to have all our videos ready several weeks ago 😊

    do you have tips for keeping tempo steady?

    • @KristaJobson
      @KristaJobson  Год назад +1

      Hi! Practice with your metronome on the 8th notes, set very under tempo, and practice with the slow version of the free track attached to this video (in the description)

    • @laferte534
      @laferte534 Год назад

      do you also have any tips for getting more comfortable with and figuring out the rhythms in this etude? when it comes to rhythms my skills are definitely lacking

      @laferte534 Год назад

      and thank you for your advice i followed it and feel slightly more comfortable with the rhythms in this etude, however i still dont know how to figure out the rhythms past measure 16

    • @KristaJobson
      @KristaJobson  Год назад

      @@laferte534 aha ok. Have you been able to mark in where the big beats are in these measures? I would put in the big beats and off beats and then use your metronome on the setting where it says the numbers for you. Also, please watch my video that was put out by TMEA. I go through it section by section so you can hear my comments for the part/s that you need 😍

    Any tips on how to score well for freshman region

    • @KristaJobson
      @KristaJobson  Год назад

      Hi @faithfriends7571! Leading up to your audition, play your etudes in front of people as much as possible. You want to practice the way it will feel on that day to make intelligent adjustments. Drink lots of water in the weeks before hand and get enough sleep. Don’t go any faster than you can play beautifully. Remember to smile and focus on slow exhalation, to keep yourself calm and happy. Enjoy the process and let me know how it goes for you! 🩷

      what's your recommend tempo to play on this piece and the g Major

    • @KristaJobson
      @KristaJobson  Год назад

      @@Anonymous-t4z5e first, I absolutely recommend tempi that in the recommended range, as an end goal. But beyond that, my honest answer for you is to play at tempos that allow you to convey not only flawless rhythm and intonation, but also the ability to express your musicality. This is of upmost importance and highly preferable over a faster audition that does not convey musical intent.

    • @aaa1.3.xaaa__
      @aaa1.3.xaaa__ Год назад

      It means there is 5 notes in one beat, it's not an s, it's a 5

    • @KristaJobson
      @KristaJobson  Год назад +1

      Hi! The end of it is m.33 - you don’t have to go beyond there 😊
      But for later, that is a turn - you play the printed note, up one, back to the printed note, one below, and back to the printed note. The sharp below means that when you go to the note below it will be sharp.

      drive.google.com/file/d/1qhv5IJaGAZMMOgxT3jBBZbBrm2xZgK4N/view?usp=drivesdk
      You can likely get the slow etude and the other versions of the fast ones from your director, or order the Mary Karen Clardy Flute Etude book online!
