As far as the eating healthy part goes, I changed my diet a while back and I could not believe the effect it had on how I feel. I threw out all the cereal, sauces, process food and soda. It was pretty hard core to throw things out because it's against my frugal nature, but I think it helped. I then started buying only: steak, eggs, chicken, bacon, broccoli, plain yogurt, nuts, brown rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes, peppers, onions, and a few bananas, apples and oranges. I might buy something else occasionally, but if it isn't natural, I don't buy it. I also only drink coffee, water, and milk. I usually only eat the carbs (rice, potatoes, bananas, etc) before I do some sort of physical activity. The result has been I feel better all around and have lost body fat around the middle. I also have less inflammation and mucous generation in my body. Now if I go out with friends to eat and cheat by eating processed food or have soda, my body tells me. Last week I ate some things at a fast food joint on a trip and that night my body made tons of flem, I got a headache, and my back was tight. I also have had good blood test numbers recently, so I'm not worried about cholesterol.
