I'd be very interested in seeing Salty and the gang revisit this series, they apparently completed the series last year with 10 episodes in total and are currently working on an original show with their strange OCs.
Plus they have gained a much larger audience since this video. Don't know when you recorded this but going from 700 subs to 10k is quite the achievement.

I legit binged the whole season after watching this vid earlier this day. Honestly shows a lot of potential and it looks like Season 2 is abandoning the Spongebob medium to focus their efforts on the original plot (of course, the last 4 episodes pretty much abandoned the subplot). It’s rare finding an original work with that much dedication and creativity
So are the Spongebob characters being abandoned later in the series

They focus on the OCs on the last four episodes like I mentioned and the krabby patty spice subplot is wrapped up quick in the finale sending spongebob, Patrick and the female sponge back to bikini bottom

I thought it was more of a pun based on asexual reproduction. Also Nickelodeon indirectly “confirmed” Spongebob was gay, so I wouldn’t really trust the orientations that people claim Spongebob is.

This show is wild because after watching three episodes of a Spongebob fanseries and 20 minutes of you guys dissecting it I still have ~no idea what its actual purpose is~. What could these people possibly feel they’re not getting from name-brand Spongebob that this show is going to provide? Epic journey with the dolphin protagonist (who we haven’t even met yet!)? Gritty crime drama with Spongebob and Patrick on the sidelines? Trenchant commentary on the current political climate? Antisemitic tract? The horizon is boundless, I could genuinely believe they’re planning to do any or all of those things based on what we’ve seen and it fills me with a strange mixture of fear and wonder.

Clearly, the actual show doesn't have enough of *THE SPECIAL SPICE*.
For those curious, as many others have stated the first season is complete with SpongeBob playing a minimal role in the second half. But! If you really can't stand SpongeBob in your peculiar young adult dolphin fiction, they did release a full movie cut version simply titled Beyond which has any trace of SpongeBob cut out.
