They always deny who they are, and don't even realize what harm they're doing.

They do realize it; they think they have the right to not care, and they think you deserve their actions. They enjoy it.

Since I'm not independent yet, it can be hard to live with them and see my toxic family's members.

Power tripping, definitely relatable. They thought by doing so gonna give them the upperhand but truly they only show how they are desperate for attention and trying to bury their chronic insecurity.

Awesome video one thing my personal therapist has taught me is a phrase that goes like this "your poor planning does not create a sense of urgency in my immediate reality" in other words you posed the opportunity for them to take accountability for their actions but you also manage your own but not according to their compass! Thank you for this video Doc and Good morning 🙏

Glad you mentioned that. If you're sitting down and they refuse to sit and they're looking down to you, that's a red flag. Normal people sit down with you and stay put as a rule.

My Doc asked me what I was Afraid of about Setting/Holding Boundaries in Regards to My Family ...
I said I was Afraid they will be Mad and Rage....
Her Response was, :Well, from the sounds of it they will be Angry either way, so Might as well choose Healthier for yourself regardless how Mad they want be "
Talk about Getting Slapped with some Good Ol Hindsight Bias ...it can be very annoying when shes right like that....Made so Much Sense I felt like I needed a Dunce Cap🤦‍♀️

It is funny that you mentioned "family members that sit on you." A friend of mine told me her mother used to sit on top of her to make sure she would not leave the house. She moved to another country to escape her family.

This is Validating to the Max!!! It almost feel as though I’ve lived a significant portion of my life in a beehive of narcissists. To make matters worse, the stench of having been stung seemingly has attracted more narc bees and wasps after having escaped the beehive of narcissists and other degenerates. Today, the healing has a better reboot! 🌹

Hey Tamara, I’m really struggling with this constant confused state I’m in. I really struggle with self doubt and indecisiveness. I don’t feel like I’m understanding what’s happened. Could you explain where this may have stemmed from or what caused it.

    • @TherapistTamaraHill
      @TherapistTamaraHill  2 года назад +2

I'm sorry to hear this. This is hard for me to assess because I would need to see you, get a full history, and then go from there. But if I come from a general angle I could say that the inattentiveness and the indecisiveness may be related to unresolved trauma or an attention-deficit. Both of these things can trigger indecisiveness and self-doubt. If you are not already in psychotherapy I encourage you to strongly consider it. You may also find books on this topic that could give you some insight too.
      Take care

Hello, I'm so sorry you're experiencing this confusion. I hope you have a therapist and I also hope you have a friend or a partner that you can confide in. I also have so much confusion and when I'm over thinking something (at least the last 2 years).
I reach out to a couple friends to gain some perspective. It's very triggering for me when I'm confused. I can spiral downward when I start having these thoughts where I question my own judgement. Also, I got a new therapist and it has made such a difference.
I would love to hear if you can relate to this but I feel very misunderstood at times and it can be frustrating and even add to my confusion because then I just start feeling like 'maybe I'm overreacting and everything is probably fine, I'm just being sensitive'. But no, I'm not. I just have to learn to trust myself. But its really tricky to trust yourself.
I'm sending you lots of love and courage ❤️

@@TherapistTamaraHill this is honestly soo reassuring. You’re completely correct it comes from unresolved trauma and a lot of manipulation. I was raised by a narcissistic mother. I think that my confusion stems from the gaslighting and the confusion I guess protected me from the consequences of making a decision. I have a psychodynamic therapist and i read tons of books. I would love for you to maybe do a book review. Your channel has honestly changed my life. You’re soo thorough and knowledgeable! Thank you 💕💕

Thank you, I needed to hear this, I ignorantly allowed a family member to brainwash me for nearly 3 years. fu*k lol I wish I had this channel before tht. I can only hope tht the future gets better, but side note: based on what I saw, at first my family member was entertaining "vibrating" crystals lol, then it was some sort of witchcraft, later it was religion and last time I saw him he was assuming dishonest ideas about people that hurt his ego. Prior to that he was super intelligent and I think that I decided to listen to him because of many ignorant reasons and mainly because I was constantly under the influence of Cannabis every time he and I spoke (yea f drugs tbh), but what woke me up was when he said I don't understand life, yup my ego got offended lol, and I've been clearing up my ambiguity thanks to channels like yours. Thank you for sharing valuable information;)

      You're welcome. :)
I understand the frustration. In hindsight it feels bad because we think we should be able to "see" things more clearly in the moment and make better choices. It's easier said than done for sure!
But at least you have the tools and awareness now. It won't happen to you again, I'm sure.

I have a question, my narcissistic family member is transferring large amounts of family wealth to an outsider. There is no good way for me to broach this because I feel that this person knows that I can see it as I have access to the accounts. Should I just leave it alone?
