Since I had nothing but time, I became so good at the game that I was getting all the time bonuses on every battle, even boss battles Then I started playing Master Ninja. I kid you not, it took me THREE WEEKS to get to the first checkpoint on the first chapter. That difficulty was a whole other beast. It was even worse in the sequel with the incendiary ninjas. But I’ll never forget those feelings of accomplishment and reward when you finally beat that one battle that’s been taking you days to beat. What a rush. And yeah once you get the Lunar and learn the tricks like instant UT’s by jumping, landing and pressing Y, while also learning how to block essence until you need to use it… that’s what really gets you through.

I'm also 33 I played it whenever they came out with Sigma, honestly I couldn't believe that you beat the nunchuck guy in before the end of this video so yeah he's kind of taking it pretty quick. That nunchuck guy is one of the hardest first bosses any game I've ever seen. I ended up finding out that you could max out the wood sword and it's better than the dragon swords, so I ran in a loop and grinded for it,and the game lost a lot of its difficulty afterwards
Props to you for going straight into hard mode. I've beaten the Ninja Gaiden games on Master Ninja, the hardest mode a long time ago. There were many many broken controllers and a lot of screaming, but it was one of the best experiences I've ever felt in a video game. I'm happy to see this game get some love. Hope you continue this series.
Ninja Gaiden is _hard,_ but before this one there’s the original Ninja Gaiden on the NES/Atari that is a side scroller just as if not harder than the 2004 reboot. What’s cooler is you even get to unlock the NES version _in_ the 2004 if you collect enough scarabs, hope you check that out!
Ninja Gaiden 1 (NES) is hella cheap but not hard. The most difficult parts are a bullshit jump in 6‐2(?), Jaquio's patterns and the fact you need to redo all of Act 6 if you die to the final boss. Everything else is very manageable. Ninja Gaiden 2 (NES) is the easiest game in the series and a good introduction point for any newcomers. Highly recommend. Ninja Gaiden 3 (NES) is the toughest of the NES games, primarily due to bullshit regional difficulty (International version has limited continues and enemies deal double damage; Japanese version has unlimited continues and enemies deal normal damage). Ninja Gaiden Black and Ninja Gaiden 2 (Xbox 360) are definitely the hardest games in the series. A brutal challenge that will destroy your sanity. While I appreciate the performance boost of the Sigma versions, the lowered difficulty is a tough sell. I'd recommend people to stick with the originals. Ninja Gaiden 3/Razor's Edge is weeeeeeeird. Play the updated version for sure. The original was embarrassingly easy.
As someone who absolutely loves this game, just a friendly reminder to think and play like a real ninja. You have to remember that you can jump off of walls and do sword strikes and when you unlock it utilize your throwables and every ninja trick in the book to overcome your enemies. I really hope you continue this game and play the rest of them. Enjoy Afro!
You should have seen Afro master Ultra - Instinct back when he was having his final fight with Owl in Sekiro. At this point with new Fromsoftware games, it's basically just waiting until he masters his rage and ego and find his inner calm and humility. Once he finds that, he always pulls through. You gotta make this a series Afro, I remember playing through the first two games with my dad and it was amazing. This is one of the best gaming franchises in the early 2000’s
As someone who played Ninja Gaiden II on Xbox 360 it was hilarious watching you realize you get sent back to the beginning of the level on death. Great editing, by the way. This is fun to watch.
Honestly, I didn’t beat this game till after beating the sequel and since then have only done again less than a dozen times. It’s another one of those games that’s difficult to beat but very satisfying when you do.
Afro, i’m really glad you’ve gotten into the souls series, since then you’ve become my favourite RUclipsr by FAR! & now you’re thinking of doing Ninja Gaiden.. Insane dude, i’m so excited for your videos
I hate to break it to you, but Ghost of Tsushima and Sekiro would like to have a word with you... unless if you're saying Ninja Gaiden was the best of its time. That's undeniable.
I was around 4 when this game came out and I discovered it when I was 7. Me being obsessed with ninjas at the time I begged my parents for the game relentlessly until I finally got it. It was the best and worse decisions I made as a child.I was stuck on the first level for 3 days I couldn’t beat the nunchuck guy for shit😭😭. I didn’t wanna quit tho cause I imagined I was the ninja and I didn’t wanna go out like a bitch and just quit. That game brought the worst outta me and I didn’t beat it till almost my next birthday. It truly was amassing for its time and the satisfaction of beating the levels is almost as equivalent as beating malenia😭. I wouldn’t be surprised if you almost pop a blood vessel on at least one of these levels I hope you turn it into a series.
Born in '94, played each one as they released. Some of the hardest games I've played. Beat 2 and 3, never NGS1 though. Super excited for this, hope this becomes a series
I laughed when he said this was his first time, and wasn’t going to be hard. Then I shed a tear when he put it on hard mode 👀 And yes I beat it long ago and never played it again 😭
Beat it on normal, maybe easy. It was Ninja Gaiden black, so if you died too many times then you essentially unlocked easy difficulty. The pink bandana thing that you tie around your wrist.
34 years old now. Played a lot of difficult NES games as a kid which probably gave me the patience to play this game. Me and a buddy walked across our small town to Game Crazy to pick this game up and played it all day. It's the best action game I've played. Back then it was a true masterpiece. Glad to see it get some love here.
This is the most slept-on game in history. Beat it on master many a year ago and it is, to this day, the hardest game I've ever played. Loved every moment of it. Please keep playing it!

I played the absolute hell out of the Dead or Alive fighting games and freaked out as an 11 year old kid when I saw Ryu had his own game. Bruh I couldn't even get past the nunchuck guy on easy. I played it again a few years back and redeemed myself. Glad to see you picked it up!
I beat this when I was 14? when it came out. It gets much harder. I remember the 7th bosses being particularly difficult. Also, after you beat it, you unlock the master difficulty. Backflip off wall and slam and run + jump attack spam is your friend.
Ninja Gaiden was the first game that made me truly rage, even more so than a souls game. You're in for an... interesting time, good luck. Still a good game though.
Man I am so excited for Afro to play the rest of series if he enjoys this one! Things get so crazy and I would love to see his reaction to the more recent titles and all the crazy weapons. I definitely have some of the fondest memories playing the Ninja Gaiden series as a kid.
I remember getting to the near final boss as a little kid around 5 or 6 and didnt know what to do and got stuck there. Basically the archfiend final boss but replayed it like a year ago and beat it
I beat this one when I was in my last year of middle school, but I never realized just how monumental a journey that was getting through that series...then I discovered Demon’s Souls...
I remember beating this game with my friend Scott Frazier RIP when I was about 19. We loved every minute of it. Glad they improved the way you heal. I hated having to pause the game.
I beat this game when I was younger on the hardest difficulty, and including all of the survival areas as well. Its an incredike game and holds up well even now! This game being back great memories, and a lot of smashed controllers... I hope you continue the journey as it will give you much more reward than any other hard game has for winning. However, I say good luck sir, you will surely need it 😂

Ninja Gaiden 1 & 2 are in my all time favourite games. I spent hours and hours trying to beat this game: it's very hard especially on Master, but if you mastered this game it really made you feel like a ninja and yes I beat it multiple times when it first came out. This is the Sigma version which is like version 1.2 of the first one so for some reason it expected you to know what you were doing and just threw you straight into the fight whereas the original gave you a bit more time to learn. Either way, this is absolutely hilarious watching someone trying to play it now 😅

I did beat this back in the day, and had one other person in my friend group who beat it. It was kind of the Dark Souls of the time. One of the main things people talked about when it came up was how hard it was.
literally there had to be a video posted as a guide to how to beat the first boss because he was THAT difficult. this game was the Original Demons'/Dark Souls: you had to use EVERY TOOL to succeed.
This game was my child hood alongside ninja gaiden 2 sigma and ninja gaiden 3 razors edge. I still play them after 8 years. I'm still waiting for ninja gaiden 4 to come out, hopefully it'll be just as good.
I love this series so damn much When 3 first came out, I didn't put my controller down until I beat the game, which took me about 8 hours I didn't even realize I was playing for so long
I was about 20 when this game came out. One of the toughest games but when you learn to attack while guarding and using your environment to move around plus combos in the air help not getting touched . Also charge your sword when yellow orbs are around they speed up the charge attack!
This is one of my favorite all time games. I’m gonna be pumped to watch you play through this. One of the most difficult games that I played and takes lots of patience! CANT BELIEVE I BEAT THIS!
The ultimate gaming achievement is someone doing the second Ninja Gaiden on Master Ninja difficulty taking no damage. I would never have believed it but it's here on YT.

I remember when I was a kid and played this game. It didn't take me that long to complete this level, but the Nunchaku Boss was my personal hell. This is my psychological trauma.
I love this series I’ve beat them on master several times as it was one of my few games as a kid that I bought with my own money and I’m super happy that Afro discovered it and if you think that this one is good it just gets better as you progress through the games
Hard is basically ng+ in this game although the game is still freaking hard but on normal difficulty there are no black ninjas at the begining just the regular ones and the boss doesnt have henchmen. Also Sigma is a version of the game made for those who where already familiar with the base game edition and the ninja gaiden black version with more bosses. You can roll then jump to travel fast and evade the ninjas following you. Aswel as absorb the orbs for stronger combos with the charge attack. Look at your combo list theres actually quite a bunch of them and theres moves you can combine aswel with jumps etc. Overall lots of mechanics the game doesnt tell you much like the soulsborne game. Combat is very different but as deep its super fast you have to hit many enemies and keep them busy not concentrate on just one. Be agressive. Anyway thanks for the video I really enjoyed watching your reactions to the game for the first time and you played really good I can't remember how many times it took me to beat that first boss I actually quit the game a few times ! Hope you continued playing and enjoyed your time with this game :)
I remember beat this game on normal mode. Few months later, they updated for Ninja Gaiden Black for more enemies and difficulties it was tough. The director said with difficulty update not many people could beat it. One day later update, more than 3,000 people beat this game in day one. He felt bad already 3 thousand people beat this game. Also when Microsoft Xbox team was testing this game for QC, they couldn't beat this game. They sent it back to Xbox Japan saying that this game is broken. They simply cannot progress certain stage. The director, Itagaki, said it's easy to beat this game. Xbox team fly to Japan to meet him. He shows how to beat this game. He shows completly different move.
Probably my favorite game of all time. I spent hours and hours on this game when I was younger. 1st boss was the hardest fight of all time. Till you learn how to cheese it

When you said Ninja Gaiden 1 gotta be the hardest one I had a laugh. The Ninja Gaiden games were the Dark Souls of the time. They were made to be oppressively difficult. It was always a badge of honor to beat these games.
Yeah NG2 turned the dial to 11, tore it off, and got more dials. But that's the Xbox 360 version, Sigma 2 nerfed the difficulty significantly. Only other game that may be as hard is God Hand level DIE.
If he does a full playthrough of this I can see a couple spots where he'll genuinely be in danger of popping a blood vessel.

The reboot is actually a prequel to the NES games
Is it hard even on normal mode?
Shinobi on ps2 was hard too
Well that's the first time I hear about this.
Enjoy Afro!
Like a real ninja? This uh... This isn't how ninjas actually were...

I love seeing people discover this gem. I put so many hours into this as a kid. Definitely need more playthroughs of this.
Its crazy how humble Malenia made this man and how he uses it to his benefit.
You should have seen Afro master Ultra - Instinct back when he was having his final fight with Owl in Sekiro. At this point with new Fromsoftware games, it's basically just waiting until he masters his rage and ego and find his inner calm and humility. Once he finds that, he always pulls through.
Here's the video of his if you're interested. Watch til the 8 min mark to see the moment it all changes for him: ruclips.net/video/yieo7WcDF3A/видео.html
I’m 32 and this is the only game that’s reduced me to tears 😂😂 I remember being 15 stuck on the final boss for almost 2 months no Cap , n the whole joke is , the route you have to take to get to him is ridiculous
That route made me angry i beat this game at 8 and it took so long
You gotta make this a series Afro, I remember playing through the first two games with my dad and it was amazing.
Insane dude, i’m so excited for your videos
for any of us that know this game 1:14 was a very concerning moment
afro: "Hard? of course."
Me: "Oh no..."
I literally had the revelation that you had to EARN the hard mode in the original game when he did that
Kind of just looks hard because it’s clunky more than anything else🤷♂️
It was at this moment we knew, he fucked up.
Never played this game but I knew at that moment he fucked up 🤣
@@arryn786 looks clunky feels really well in hand during combat, traversal tho oh yeah I agree. But this was a greet OG Xbox game
19 years had passed, and still, this game is unmatched

Ninja Gaiden is a game where every boss is Malenia
I’m so glad afro is playing this game it’s one of my favorite game series, it was infuriating back in the day
So did you ever beat it as a kid?
@@vindovilles3419 I personally beat it around 2015 on the og Xbox. Was 15/16 back then
Hope he plays more of this especially ninja gaiden 2. Such an underrated series
Yea no hack and slash comes remotely close to ninja gaidens 2 combat.
Seeing someone else discover the aerial techniques and all the hype techniques is a thing of beauty
Born in '94, played each one as they released. Some of the hardest games I've played. Beat 2 and 3, never NGS1 though. Super excited for this, hope this becomes a series
This is actually surprising to me because I thought he would have played a game like this way before he started RUclips.
Ditto
Same here, I guess a lot of people did not get into the series, the camera was frustrating.
I laughed when he said this was his first time, and wasn’t going to be hard. Then I shed a tear when he put it on hard mode 👀
And yes I beat it long ago and never played it again 😭
Pause?
@@tavianjosiah2 LMAO
@@tavianjosiah2 😭😭😭😭😭
Exactly how you feel I'll beat this game too a long time ago and I never touched it since
Beat it on normal, maybe easy.
Same man, it was soo hard yet so satisfying, those evil Hayabusas were a mega pain, most especially the one with the vigoorian flail and cuz of the damned counter. I think it took me like 5hrs to beat Alma😂😂😂 at the cathedral
I played elden ring, darksouls 2 and the ninja gaiden trilogy. The 1st ninja gaiden was by far the worst of the bunch.
@@iamMildlyUpsetWithMostOfYouTub i humbly disagree, personally the 3rd game was the worst of the series, could never get into it
@@manada00 the 3rd game was so easy to cheese tho. Ninpo was OP in it
@@iamMildlyUpsetWithMostOfYouTub true, i guess that was why I kinda didn't get into it, the combat felt...okay, it wasnt a bad game honestly, it just wasn't doing it for me
Watched for years and finally seeing ryu on here is dope. Beat all 3 when they released growing up and excited to see you clap this series. Easily favourite games of my childhood
Legit this series is what got me into games like Dark Souls. The challenge is the fun
I love how he beats the first boss and expects a badass cut scene where he kills him, then they just bow to each other and have a chat
This is the first video ive seen of yours and i have not laughed this hard over video game commentary in forever youre just so quick with it I love it
I played the absolute hell out of the Dead or Alive fighting games and freaked out as an 11 year old kid when I saw Ryu had his own game. Bruh I couldn't even get past the nunchuck guy on easy. I played it again a few years back and redeemed myself. Glad to see you picked it up!
Same on the redeem, I didn’t make it past the horse dude as a kid. But came back last year some time to play some more
I beat this when I was 14? when it came out. It gets much harder. I remember the 7th bosses being particularly difficult. Also, after you beat it, you unlock the master difficulty. Backflip off wall and slam and run + jump attack spam is your friend.
Afro: How gonna throw me into the game without a tutorial
Also Afro: Chooses Hard Mode
Never change buddy🤣
Don't forget skipping the notes attached to the kunai that were trying to offer tips...😆
Beating this on the OG xbox back in the day is still one of my proudest gaming accomplishments
Ninja Gaiden was the first game that made me truly rage, even more so than a souls game. You're in for an... interesting time, good luck. Still a good game though.
My biggest rage boss was the dual worms with the electricity.
Biggest rage area was all the stupid fucking fish. Only beat it on normal btw
Fuck the fish i hated that part
@@Bendanna93 They were annoying
This is the series I didn't know I needed.
I was like 12 when it came out and I beat it, honestly it's great seeing you play it
Man I am so excited for Afro to play the rest of series if he enjoys this one! Things get so crazy and I would love to see his reaction to the more recent titles and all the crazy weapons. I definitely have some of the fondest memories playing the Ninja Gaiden series as a kid.
At 6 years old in 2008, this had to be my all time favorite game. Even though I only got through 3 boss fights.
You got through a LOT more then other people XD
I remember getting to the near final boss as a little kid around 5 or 6 and didnt know what to do and got stuck there. Basically the archfiend final boss but replayed it like a year ago and beat it
I beat this one when I was in my last year of middle school, but I never realized just how monumental a journey that was getting through that series...then I discovered Demon’s Souls...
I remember beating this game with my friend Scott Frazier RIP when I was about 19. We loved every minute of it. Glad they improved the way you heal. I hated having to pause the game.
First time seeing Ninja Gaiden gameplay and I cannot believe how brutal this game is.
I beat this game when I was younger on the hardest difficulty, and including all of the survival areas as well. Its an incredike game and holds up well even now! This game being back great memories, and a lot of smashed controllers...
I hope you continue the journey as it will give you much more reward than any other hard game has for winning. However, I say good luck sir, you will surely need it 😂
On GoD he damn sure gone need it cause he dying on the tutorial level smdh
Just wondering how many broken controllers we’ll see for this playthrough.
@@AsianMop Base on the toturial area, a lot of dead controller.

i love watching you and faze jev play elden ring. i kinda have a feeling you 2 are very much alike. also just playing any other game i get the same vibe from both of you in playing games
Either way, this is absolutely hilarious watching someone trying to play it now 😅
Can we take a second to appreciate Afros thumbnails
Has afro done Yakuza 0 yet? Might be cool.
That or even yakuza like a dragon. He has a great range of game types.
I started playing it yesterday and ngl it took me a minute to get used to the combat lol

The first ones not too bad. A lot of people consider Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 to be the hardest game ever made, however. You got this tho chief, light work
Light like looking into an LED or waking up with a spot ligt on your eye lid as it rotates everywhere?
Sigma 2 on the hardest…. Lost 3 memory cards on this game
YEEESSS. Remember, the fact that normal is actually hard because there was no normal option when it released first in Japan.
I've heard that Ninja Gaiden Black was the hardest.
You might be thinkin of the original Ninja Gaiden 2 bro, Sigma 2 was piss easy compared to the first game.
I beat Ninja Gaiden, Ninja Gaiden Black(all the missions were brutal AF) and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1 & 2 when they came out.
I beat the first two NES games when I was 6 and 7 but have yet to beat Ninja Gaiden 3: The Ancient Ship of Doom because I refuse to use save states. 🤷🏾♂🤷🏾♂
Remember paying this back in the day, definitely was the hardest game out at one time. Glad to see this brought back out lol 😂
Glad to see Afro’s enjoying this. Just getting into NG myself this year. Normal mode is already kicking my ass lol. Get this to 30k likes y’all!
JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR I WAS LIKE HUH HE DIDNT UPLOAD TODAY BUT HERE WE ARE!!! Yesss boiiiii
i played this during Xbox era and beat it. I always say, before there was Dark Souls, There was Ninja Gaiden.
I did beat this back in the day, and had one other person in my friend group who beat it. It was kind of the Dark Souls of the time. One of the main things people talked about when it came up was how hard it was.
Get this man his 30k. I need more! Afro always an entertaining watch. The editing on this video had me laughing too hard damn
Oh i remember this being THE hardest game out there for a time, love it being appreciated after so long
literally there had to be a video posted as a guide to how to beat the first boss because he was THAT difficult.
this game was the Original Demons'/Dark Souls: you had to use EVERY TOOL to succeed.
This game was my child hood alongside ninja gaiden 2 sigma and ninja gaiden 3 razors edge. I still play them after 8 years. I'm still waiting for ninja gaiden 4 to come out, hopefully it'll be just as good.
I love this series so damn much
When 3 first came out, I didn't put my controller down until I beat the game, which took me about 8 hours
I didn't even realize I was playing for so long
Was hoping for elden ring video though but all his content is great. Reallllllly enjoyed and laughed hard at that multiplayer horror game
30k guys... we're 2/3 of the way there.
This playthrough must happen. It's a match made in heaven.
Let's do it!
I was about 20 when this game came out. One of the toughest games but when you learn to attack while guarding and using your environment to move around plus combos in the air help not getting touched . Also charge your sword when yellow orbs are around they speed up the charge attack!
This was my most favorite game series as a kid, my boa turning dreams into realities for us
Switching mechanics back and forth between these games would drive me insane
This game is so hard that it had an achievement if you die like 1000 times! Love that game especially online!
“Tablets” were stone slabs with words or pictures engraved into them. They are what our modern day computer devices like iPads are named after.
I really love when afro choose hard difficulty and then asks why the game is so hard
This is one of my favorite all time games. I’m gonna be pumped to watch you play through this. One of the most difficult games that I played and takes lots of patience! CANT BELIEVE I BEAT THIS!

Till you learn how to cheese it
This definitely needs to be a playthrough
Ninja Gaiden 2 was the only game to ever make me put a controller through a wall in a fit of rage. Good luck with the game!

Honestly excited for the series. Played all and we're all really good. About to enjoy you going crazy 😂

But this game had the hardest First Boss I ever saw in any game.. then the guy ends up being his teach I was like Sensei why you do that🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄Great game great playthrough.. Finish it bro
