I’m surprised more people weren’t expecting a second phase I’d heard Malenia was difficult prior to playing but that’s all I knew When I fought her and finally got her to second phase I set down the controller for a sec to wipe off the sweat from my hands, then grabbed my controller again and prepared for round two

He went through so many emotion when he first entered the second stage, first was pure joy, then doubt, then to anxiousness, then anger, then begging for the death scene, then denial when the second phase beggings, to more denial, to finally questioning this entire game.

No boss in history has ever made me feel as terrified as when Malenia floated into the air and said "You will witness true horror. Now, rot." Told me two things, there is a 2ND FUCKING PHASE and she inflicts rot now, all I could think about is what I have done to deserve this.

If I had this build I’d have obliterated her less than 5 deaths, I’m sure Afro will kill her eventually though

Afro goes further with this new sidequest helping a young girl on the brink of death and with the help of an odd man he rids the scarlet rot in her body and even gains a new arm thanks to Afro. Continuing on he Hope's to find new places and even more so. New horrors. With his New Build of sheer strength and rage he fights a Mage Knight who proves to be a bit of a challenge but nothing our hero cant handle. He travels further down Miquella's hailtree. Only to find his friend with the prosthetic arm waiting. Hoping to discover what kind of relationship she has with this Meliena. Hearing humors of how troublesome this foe is Afro relishes the thought but also doesn't think it'll be much of a challenge as the masses say. Will Afro find this mysterious new person? Will he be able to defeat her as easily as he thinks? Will Afro meet. True horror. Next time on. Elden ring the story of afrosenju..... 12:00 Afro: "What's your NAME." She's pretty easy though in my book. Not joking on that either. I just stun locked her with Swarm of Flies and bullied her into a corner and just dodged whenever she got free. It's weird how I beat her 4 in tries but was stuck on Elden Beast/ Radagon for a while.
4:00 For those wondering, Gowry suggests that the entire plot with the needle was meant to gestate the rot inside of Millicent's body until she 'blooms', suggesting that she was some sort of walking rot nuke (ala what Malenia did to Caelid or somesuch). Somehow, she discovered this and decided to nope out in the end. There was no saving her, that game was rigged from the start. Edit: Another part of what makes Malenia so difficult is that she doesn't actually have a consistent pattern. Her moveset alters slightly when you're attacking her - this is part of why parry gods can absolutely demolish her as they do. For waterfoul dance, you have to roll-dodge INTO the second flurry. The first one, you need to just be out of range, and bhs can help with that. Lastly, as noted at 15:00, a well timed ranged attack can knock her out of waterfoul stance. If you use some of the stronger pots (pref freezing) at the right time, you can shut it down entirely if your timing is tight.
There are actually weapons that knock her out in the aur while she's attemoting the waterfowl dance like the skill of the rivers of blood sword. Actually found her easy with that weapon.
@@dredgewalker plus 10 mimic and I’m lvl 186 with a strength and Dex and Vig build and endurance lol and we used a plus 10 rivers of blood and beat her within maybe 10 mins

In case anyone is actually wondering, the way to dodge waterfowl dance is to run away for the first flurry, dodge toward her for the second, then stand still for the third. Works every time
Well there are a lot of situations where you simply can't run away. Especially if you are using heavy collosal weapons. Imo the startup time needs to be increased to account for heavier builds otherwise you have to play very slow and keep waiting for her to jump up.
i would be confused too if after 20+ hours of gameplay a boss suddenly has cutscenes after they die, but especially in souls game..... that is not a good sign at all.

To be fair, most summons are of neutral or negative benefit with her. She heals off of them, and does so much damage to them they die in relatively short order.

I personally thought the blasphemous blade was amazing against her in both phases the first one gets staggered very easily with it and the takers flames can reach her when she does the scarlet bloom attack
I knew Malenia would break him and he'd uninstall on this one lol. Glad he ended up ditching the Guts build tho cuz that would have started off as a complete catastrophe lol we might not see a video for a few days. He may also need to grab a few items in that area, at the very least the Dragoncrest greatshield talisman, which halves the physical damage she does (still massive tho lol). That actually might do it considering he used no summons and is so so close. Impressive gameplay.
@Juan beat her with the royal great sword, was on the easier side in around 2hrs or so bc she’s easy to stagger. Although I feel like how she is rn is perfectly fine, balancing the boss you can get a statue for and basically being the hardest boss in the game that’s never been defeated would be a slap in the face for Melenia. Did it to Radahn and he ended up being a joke compared to prior.
Honestly thought that I would have to change builds by what everyone told me about this boss (I dual wield the guts swords) but after a while I finally killed her. No summons or dragon talisman. Just two swords and a dream
I felt this frustration. I used heavy weapons, no summon. That did not go over well with Maleina lol. Had to upgrade that coded blade so I could get enough swings in between her attacks. The waterfowl dance has 3 homing attacks. If you deselect her when she starts to float and wind up the attack and run in little circles below her, you can confuse the tracker and the first dance will miss, generally want to roll through her second dance, and the third you can usually roll away (avoid getting too close to walls). Safety is usually in the dance not at the edges of her swings were the damage is hitting you from. OR you can just chuck an Ice Pot at her and it staggers her out of the entire move.
Holy shit I just got elden ring on Sunday and I’m now at melania this is my first time being stuck for more than 2-3 hours I’m a lvl 112 Dex build I’ve been getting her consistently to phase 2, does the Ice potion trick work for her shadow clone move and her water fowl with the scarlet rot in 2nd phase?
Heavy Weapons are one of the best ways to beat her ironically. but you need a LOT of stamina, and good stamina management to keep the pressure on. she staggers easily and posture breaks decently well when you use heavy weapons, and you can deal a LOT of damage quickly with them.
@@JustAS1nk don't rely on that trick, it can only work trice and you don't know what her status buildup is because it recovers. Just learn the moveset and aggressively look for all the openings.
You don't have to defeat Melania to beat the game by guy. She's an optional boss. He'll beat the game in 3 days no problem. An come back to Melania after the fact

Hearing humors of how troublesome this foe is Afro relishes the thought but also doesn't think it'll be much of a challenge as the masses say. Will Afro find this mysterious new person? Will he be able to defeat her as easily as he thinks? Will Afro meet.

Everyone I've seen approach Malenia just had sky high confidence, and watching it devolve into madness is way too satisfying
She's pretty easy though in my book. Not joking on that either. I just stun locked her with Swarm of Flies and bullied her into a corner and just dodged whenever she got free. It's weird how I beat her 4 in tries but was stuck on Elden Beast/ Radagon for a while.

For those wondering, Gowry suggests that the entire plot with the needle was meant to gestate the rot inside of Millicent's body until she 'blooms', suggesting that she was some sort of walking rot nuke (ala what Malenia did to Caelid or somesuch). Somehow, she discovered this and decided to nope out in the end. There was no saving her, that game was rigged from the start.
Edit:
Another part of what makes Malenia so difficult is that she doesn't actually have a consistent pattern. Her moveset alters slightly when you're attacking her - this is part of why parry gods can absolutely demolish her as they do.
For waterfoul dance, you have to roll-dodge INTO the second flurry. The first one, you need to just be out of range, and bhs can help with that.
Lastly, as noted at 15:00, a well timed ranged attack can knock her out of waterfoul stance. If you use some of the stronger pots (pref freezing) at the right time, you can shut it down entirely if your timing is tight.

There are actually weapons that knock her out in the aur while she's attemoting the waterfowl dance like the skill of the rivers of blood sword. Actually found her easy with that weapon.

In case anyone is actually wondering, the way to dodge waterfowl dance is to run away for the first flurry, dodge toward her for the second, then stand still for the third. Works every time
Exactly what I was going to say - it has weird tracking but since most people just try to run away, they don’t notice.
Well there are a lot of situations where you simply can't run away. Especially if you are using heavy collosal weapons. Imo the startup time needs to be increased to account for heavier builds otherwise you have to play very slow and keep waiting for her to jump up.

To be fair, most summons are of neutral or negative benefit with her. She heals off of them, and does so much damage to them they die in relatively short order.

Glad he ended up ditching the Guts build tho cuz that would have started off as a complete catastrophe lol we might not see a video for a few days. He may also need to grab a few items in that area, at the very least the Dragoncrest greatshield talisman, which halves the physical damage she does (still massive tho lol). That actually might do it considering he used no summons and is so so close. Impressive gameplay.

@Juan beat her with the royal great sword, was on the easier side in around 2hrs or so bc she’s easy to stagger. Although I feel like how she is rn is perfectly fine, balancing the boss you can get a statue for and basically being the hardest boss in the game that’s never been defeated would be a slap in the face for Melenia. Did it to Radahn and he ended up being a joke compared to prior.
Honestly thought that I would have to change builds by what everyone told me about this boss (I dual wield the guts swords) but after a while I finally killed her. No summons or dragon talisman. Just two swords and a dream

I felt this frustration. I used heavy weapons, no summon. That did not go over well with Maleina lol. Had to upgrade that coded blade so I could get enough swings in between her attacks. The waterfowl dance has 3 homing attacks. If you deselect her when she starts to float and wind up the attack and run in little circles below her, you can confuse the tracker and the first dance will miss, generally want to roll through her second dance, and the third you can usually roll away (avoid getting too close to walls). Safety is usually in the dance not at the edges of her swings were the damage is hitting you from. OR you can just chuck an Ice Pot at her and it staggers her out of the entire move.
Holy shit I just got elden ring on Sunday and I’m now at melania this is my first time being stuck for more than 2-3 hours I’m a lvl 112 Dex build I’ve been getting her consistently to phase 2, does the Ice potion trick work for her shadow clone move and her water fowl with the scarlet rot in 2nd phase?
Heavy Weapons are one of the best ways to beat her ironically. but you need a LOT of stamina, and good stamina management to keep the pressure on. she staggers easily and posture breaks decently well when you use heavy weapons, and you can deal a LOT of damage quickly with them.
@@JustAS1nk don't rely on that trick, it can only work trice and you don't know what her status buildup is because it recovers. Just learn the moveset and aggressively look for all the openings.
@@zeehero7280 you can get more reliable if you only settle for one attack each opening and just expect waterfowl or phantoms to come out whenever.
