Great ideas thank s. I also down grade to a 3/0 hook. And my hook up ratio increased. Weird but for me it works. Having a back problem it gets me to set the hook better
I've been losing good fish and missing a lot here lately on trick worms and it's so frustrating nobody seems to have any answers as to why but this makes a lot of sense l. I like fishing weightless in shallow water I don't usually have too much trouble getting bites it's just landing the fish
David Dudley Outdoors I had a terrible hook-up ratio with soft plastics I tried this trick and I went from about 30% to a 90% hook-up rate I was just rigging my worms too tight but it yeah it does work

Ultralight, 4 pound test and a weightless baby brush hog/ trick worm is how I roll. Gotta set that hook to next Sunday to get it into em, and the fight is always intense.
I fish a boot tail swimbait about 70% of the time year-round and I had never thought to do that to increase the size of the hook J great tip I will definitely try it out
i dunno if it works enough to see a that much or less of successful hook up ratios, but i do see it helping more w a beaver style bait.i do see the plastics not lasting for many fish w this tho

Awesome tip! I used to just use a much larger hook for better hook-ups but it would mess up my sink rates too much.
And hang ups! And makes it to bulky

What’s your reasoning behind not going under medium heavy? I have always gone medium heavy on spinning and guys think it’s too heavy
