Max Normans production on BATM was great, I wished Ozzy had used him to produce The Ultimate Sin!

Yeah. They wanted sales - they wanted that sheen that Nevison had just gotten on the Heart "comeback" album.

@@Twotontessie they would have still got sales if they used the BATM production team

Thank you so much for this interview! Max contributed so much timeless mystique to my fave albums: Diary, Bark @ Moon, & Speak of the Devil (despite $haron's neglect of them.) I loved them when they came out & love them now! My band recorded its share of 2+ min. fadeouts; i thank Max.

Everyone has their favorite ...or the Blizzard vs Diary debate. For me ...Diary is leaps and bounds better than Blizzard ...that "sound" and "tone" is so F'n cinematic. All thanks to the new technology of the Lexicon 224 reverb and the increased memory in the AMS delay.

Wish Jason would have asked for details about the recording of Ozzy's vocal tracks. Such as Ozzy's voice in the high registers, since he always seems to have so much difficulty live.

Right!! Blizzard & Diary...as well as mixing Tribute, which is great but w/all those Overdubbed Vocals it didnt have the same energy as the original recordings, the Newer Ozzy Randy live disc is Unbelievable. Its a shame the way that Sharon has handled those things the re-recordings & such, they really should have done or do a Classic Albums w/Blizzard & Diary,I mean W/Max Ozzy,Lee & Bob Everyone involved is alive except Randy.Theres a great Doc making of Megadeths Youthanasia w/Max if you look

That rudy sarzo guy is a snake oil sales man, he went around saying he barely had time to learn these songs for speak of the devil, we now find out from the genius Max that they where pre recorded before the show and its the first record rudy ever recorded with Ozzy, rudy never once corrected ppl when asking him about the first two records with randy, he instead would continue riding conversions about the subject by switching to touring scenarios, and no one asks what photos of randys flight where captured by don airy who was on the ground taking photos of the plane with randy in it for a record cover vise versa
