Most Gen X autistic people go undiagnosed because parents and teachers want to inflict PTSD instead of actually doing their job. I was constantly ridiculed and sent to the principal's office to suffer escalated abuse all because my teachers were jealous that I had brains and they had to settle for a degree in Education. Every one of my teachers and coaches were assholes and child abusers.

The reason that there are more diagnoses of Autism, is because originally the studies for Autism were done on young white males. Now the studies for Autism have been opened up and have been done on a more culturally diverse group of people, including females. We now have a better criteria for diagnostics. Because of that we see a much greater opportunity for correctly diagnosing people, using better tools and a greater understanding of Autism in itself. It's not that there's suddenly more people with Autism, it's that because of our greater understanding and diagnostic tools, we are able to CORRECTLY diagnose people, from more diverse cultural backgroundS, both male and females. I really wish people would get it better understanding of that, instead of saying, "Everybody claims to be autistic''.🤬

there's a lot of self diagnosis nowadays though. we see many people who don't fully understand what being autistic is claim they are because they associated themselves with false information, or cherry picked things (likely subconsciously, as i doubt there's malice) that fed into the pre-assumed belief. this is what ive seen, as many self diagnosis' come from people who are just anti social or just generally eccentric. typically, those who romanticize autism are those who aren't entirely sure what it is, it isn't a beautiful thing at least 95% of the time. better screenings is a part of it, but the problem is that screenings have a cost in general. being able to know if you're autistic or not is a basic human right, as i wouldn't be here today if i didn't know why i wasn't fitting or wasn't seen the same as others. it's bittersweet but having the ability to understand why im not like others mentally really would've set me incredibly far back. anyway, in short; while i agree in some respects i cant say that the majority of self diagnosis autistics are genuinely on the spectrum. but screenings should be more easily accessible to make it right.
EXACTLY, i’m an autistic girl and before my therapist suggested i should get tested for a diagnosis i never guessed i was autistic cause of the stereotype and i also have adhd and i didn’t know you could have both. but damn knowing i’m autistic has helped me. cause before in school i had the issues that a lot of autistic people have in school but because i didn’t have a diagnosis i didn’t get much help.
That still does not help minors who are abused by assholes who vehemently deny that the kid has legit medical needs and simply "needs discipline" in the form of child abuse.

I use my right hand for writing and drawing, but for all other things I use my left hand. For example, I always grab my fork with my left hand when I eat, in the shower I always use my left hand to wash myself and stuff like that. When I was 4, I used to be able to write and draw with my left hand too, but my teacher wanted me to be right handed so now I can’t anymore. But I guess I used to be both handed as well
