    Nice video! Thanks a lot for the great insights into Crimson. Do you know something about the other goshiwons, as a comparison? :)

      My friend stayed at another goshiwon on Anam-ro (main street bordering Korea University), and I think it was located between GS25 and CU. I don't have any details on the pricing, but she mentioned that they didn't have a big communal area or social culture like Crimson House.

    I really want to stay in a goshiwon for my planned trip to Seoul.

    You can get a one-room apartment with its own bath/kitchenette/laundry in the same area for 300,000 KRW if you have the 5,000,000 KRW as the deposit money. I suppose the deposit money is the issue for most.

      @aquagamer1212 Год назад +2

      Most people don’t have that kind of money.

      ?????usuallly its 10,000,000 KRW in deposit and 700,000-800,000 per month and over 800,000 for newly built apartments. A one-room unit with 300,000 KRW / month in Seoul, especially in the places where universities are clustered, is like finding a needle in a haystack.

      Also you need to pay a management bill called gwanlibi (관리비) and a utility bill monthly.

    Cara, when on the rooftop is the yellow sky smog or a dust storm? Where I live a yellow sky indicates an impending tornado.

    Why not Dormitory. I think it's more spacy and also there is bathroom inside???

    • @caranguyen
      @caranguyen  Год назад +5

      I applied for a dorm, but the spots ran out. However, the dorms at KU are on a massive hill, and my friends mentioned that they had to walk up for a long time and felt discouraged to go out sometimes. On the other hand, my goshiwon was conveniently located right across the street from KU, so I only had to walk

    Does anyone know whether it would be possible for a 17 year old to stay at a goshiwon? Because I'll do a language program in seoul for a few weeks and want to live in a goshiwon during that time but I am not sure if there is an age requirement

      Some can be pretty particular about being under 18, but I've heard of some 17-year-olds getting rooms. You'd just have to look around.

    • @caranguyen
      @caranguyen  Год назад +2

      Thank you for watching! Although my professors based their course content on textbooks, buying them was not required. Either way, the textbooks could be accessed in the library or online. Also, South Korea has a very distinct studying culture where students usually go to cafes (standard coffee shops or study cafes) or libraries to work. Like most Koreans, I spent the bulk of my time studying outside of my room as well.
