From Warner Bros. Pictures comes the feature film “Blue Beetle,” marking the DC Super Hero’s first time on the big screen. The film, directed by Angel Manuel Soto, stars Xolo Maridueña in the title role as well as his alter ego, Jaime Reyes.
Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero BLUE BEETLE.
Starring alongside Maridueña (“Cobra Kai”) are Adriana Barraza (“Rambo: Last Blood,” “Thor”), Damían Alcázar (“Narcos,” “Narcos: Mexico”), Elpidia Carrillo (“Mayans M.C.,” the “Predator” films), Bruna Marquezine (“Maldivas,” “God Save the King”), Raoul Max Trujillo (the “Sicario” films, “Mayans M.C.”), with Oscar winner Susan Sarandon (“Monarch,” “Dead Man Walking”), and George Lopez (the “Rio and “Smurf” franchises). The film also stars Belissa Escobedo (“American Horror Stories,” “Hocus Pocus 2”) and Harvey Guillén (“What We Do in the Shadows”). Soto (“Charm City Kings,” “The Farm”) directs from a screenplay by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (“Miss Bala”), based on characters from DC.
John Rickard and Zev Foreman are producing, with Walter Hamada, Galen Vaisman and Garrett Grant serving as executive producers.
The director’s creative team behind the scenes includes director of photography Pawel Pogorzelski (“Midsommar,” “Hereditary”), production designer John Billington (“Bad Boys for Life”), editor Craig Alpert (“Deadpool 2,” “The Lost City”), Oscar-nominated costume designer Mayes C. Rubeo (“Jojo Rabbit,” the “Thor” films), visual effects supervisor Kelvin McIlwain (“The Suicide Squad,” “Aquaman”) and composer Bobby Krlic (“Midsommar,” the “Snowpiercer” series).
A Warner Bros. Pictures Presentation, a Safran Company Production, “Blue Beetle” soars into theaters only internationally beginning August 2023 and in North America August 18, 2023. It will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.

I like how his whole family watches him transform into Blue Beetle. It's actually one of the few moments you see superheroes and their families get involved. You don't see that a lot.

The way they captured how terrifying his first transformation and assimilation into the suit was amazing and you can't convince me otherwise.

I love whenever the family is in the adventure. I am so fed up with lonely super hero hiding their identity and being miserable all by themselves, or orphans against the world. Family, friends, support system, that's the kind of thing I like to see in movies.
Ms. Marvel and Blue Beetle excelled in that.
This whole movie is brimming with human energy and personality. Jaime’s family is an entire full character. I just love it.

It's great that they're not just translating the awesome character Jaime is from the comics; but at the end of the trailer, they showed the suits of previous Blue Beetles. Dan Gerrat and Tedd Kord.
Glad they're paying tribute to the OG's.

I watched it yesterday and it was a very well put together film. Great cast, decent action, but a big standout to me was Xolo performance as Jaime Reyes. The family dynamic was very strong and there are at least four family scenes that made me cry and think of my own family growing up. It’s a very relatable enjoyable film. A lot is in Spanish which I liked. This lil girl sitting next to me was reading the subtitles out loud 😂😭😭 cute. Story was decent for an entry level film. Susan Sarandon did her thing per usual. I liked it more than the flash. I’m happy he is a part of the DCU going forward. Despite what’s going on with Hollywood and the strike I think it’s important to not get lost in the sauce. We need to take our families to see this and enjoy this film and support the DCU and the many hardworking writers producers and visual artists that worked on this project. They deserve it. Enjoy this weekend.
Don't know much of Blue Beetle. Iv'e seen him on the Young Justice cartoons I think. Saw the movie yesterday and really enjoyed it. Hope to see more of him.
I heard it was good despite me not being impressed with a different trailer. This trailer however looks like a lot of fun so I'm excited to watch it.

I watch the movie myself on Friday and I really enjoyed it so much that I have to see it again this week Friday

I can't say I've ever watched The flash movie but I've seen the series I prefer the series way better no offense to Ezra Miller but I've never seen the movie and I don't think I want to I'll stick to watching the series Blue beetle was amazing really great family movie!
Xolo Mariduena was incredible as Jaime Reyes I really hope that they make a sequel for the movie and he gets to come back for it

Sad that this movie was so good that it didn't make enough money at the box office and a lot of people missed out on going to see it, way better than the Flash even the special effects were on point and definitely better than the second Shazam

This movie was so good. It was so much better than I thought it would be. Excellent movie. I cried 5 times, it’s very emotional so anyone who is reading this if you haven’t seen it yet then make sure to have tissues with you when watching it. It had lots of heart and a beautiful love and bond with family. I loved it so much

I saw the movie in theatres a couple of weeks ago and it was a really fun DC movie I’ve seen in a while. I loved every second of it and I loved the exploration on the power of family dynamic.

First DC movie in years where I am excited that his costume/armour looks accurate and realistic! Blue Beetle is a great character with a great back story that ties into a major plotline. I hope they do it as much justice as was done in Young Justice

They got me with that intro. Thought they were going to make Jaime a crypto bro or something. Love that his family knows he's Blue Beetle from the beginning again, really wasn't a fan of when they changed that in the comics. His family being a part of his superhero life was one of the best parts of his original series.

Seeing them pay homage and reference to the history of the character, the accuracy of the suit, the CGI looks good and the fact that this looks like a good, fun, action-packed wholesome time - gives me hope.

the CGI looks shxtty. the suit looks like a low rendered injustice 2 skin. the tone reminds me of spiderman homecoming and venom, so it could either be pretty good, or venom... it's hard to tell whether they'll nail the highschool stuff and the characters. if they do that's probably what's most important. I like the family dynamic they're going with, I like the actor playing jaime, but idk if this is the movie blue beetle/ young justice fans have been waiting for. guess we'll see
thing is, it looks promising enough that even if this movie is kinda mid, it could lay the groundwork for an even better sequel, if this movie does a good job at building an identity for the character/ tone/ universe. it's cool to think we could even get a young justice movie in the future, and it might actually be good if james gunn pulls through

Never have I been so excited to see a DC live action film since Man of Steel. I first saw Blue Beetle during Young Justice, and I fell in love with the character ever since. Hopefully the movie does him justice.

I hope Ted Kord, the original Blue Beetle makes a cameo in this movie. Blue Beetle was originally a property of Charlton comics along with Peace Maker, The Question, and Captain Atom before becoming a DC property. I’ve known Blue Beetle ever since Batman: The Brave And The Bold used to be on Cartoon Network.

A random loser guy (probably a teenager) struggling in life miraculously stumble upon a god-like power which "chose" him and he doesn't want it, spends most of the movie figuring out what he can do and at the end will find an underlying great power in the suit/himself which would help him to defeat the bad guy(s) while the government or a similar agency tries to acquire it for no apparent reason and treating the hero in such a way that it doesn't feel like they are dealing with a teenager while another bad guy, who probably thinks the hero is not worthy of the power and/or wants it for himself, with powers is also after him.

I remember meeting Xolo back at a Comicon event in Knoxville, TN years ago - around the time where Cobra Kai was still pretty new and got to talk to him for a bit at his booth next to Zabka's. Such a nice down to earth kid and to see him in a major motion picture like this now makes my heart happy. Dude deserves the world with how nice and hard-working he is. Can't wait to see this!

Finally we're getting a legacy character like Jaime Reyes done justice on the big screen, the organic nanotech suit up was so fascinating to watch, and in the adaptation his family knows and supports his superhero life!

This movie was amazing. Highly recommend and planning to see it again while still in theaters. AMC is playing this movie for $5 by the way but I would’ve definitely paid full price to see this!
The family knowing from the beginning that he's a superhero, and being fully supportive and helping him, after a near horror experience of watching him transform for the first time is a breath of fresh air and wholesome! Loved it 💙

The most realistic suit up scene so far in all marvel/dc movies. It's like an organic nanotech, which came from inside his body, hence burning/tearing off his clothing instead of just covering it up
That's even directly from the comics! Jaime's original run had it as a minor plot point at the start that armoring up destroyed his clothes.

I love how Jaime isn't trying to hide his identity as Blue Beetle and everyone knew about him being Blue Beetle from the start. This is a great change from the typical teen superhero movies where the main character would hide his identity as a superhero from his close ones.

So far as we know it, there are a few superheroes who are hiding their identities in the Cinematic universe
There are consequences for revealing this to your family. The amount if stress, anxiety and worry you put on to them and may endanger the family like most heroes like this do. But the story plot also revolves around family same goes with Shazam.
Blue Beetle rewatch in IMAX was dope. The biggest thing I take away from this is the importance of family and why family should be there for one another.

There's something nice about Xolo Maridueña being cast as Reyes. For me, I guess it's because I've watched Cobra Kai a lot, where his character of Miguel Diaz goes through a very big story arc, from surviving a coma and paralysis to finding his criminal father. Also, it's a nice touch that Reyes is a fan of Final Fantasy VII, seeing his dream of wielding Cloud's Buster Sword being fulfilled.

I found it amusing that Blue Beetles' initial transition resembled a scene from a horror film. I also enjoyed how, later in the video, Blue Beetle's family helps him battle crime even though they are aware of his true identity. Nowadays, you hardly ever see that in superheroes. Hope Blue Beetles makes history from any other modern DC movies.
