    I am graduating high school this year. I am going into Coast Guard! I am so excited, it's gonna be amazing. The comodery formed, what you go through pushing yourself as a not just one person, but an entire unit, putting your lives on the line for your fellow soldiers, protecting the hurt, and going out everyday facing hurricanes, the ocean all together! That is what I wanna be part of! Nothing sounds better then that!

It was from skiing and I completely snapped a ligament in my knee not the acl it was the mpfl or something like that it was a ligament that went horizontally across the patella... It’s been 2 years since and my knee is stronger than ever... thoughts?

    Hey Andre,
    I have two questions regarding what happens after graduation if you enlisted in the reserves. If you enlisted on the reserves, can you choose to a duty station close to home or would the company commander decide your duty station? Also, if you're in the reserves, do you immediately go straight to your duty station or do you have some time to stay home? I ask this because I am 22 and I work full time. Thanks for the informative videos!

    • @054863564
      @054863564 5 лет назад +3

      I'll help answer this one: as a reservist you will be assigned to a reserve unit near your home address. For example if you live in Boston, you maybe assigned to Station Boston up to Station Portsmouth Harbor in NH. Usually you'll go directly from recruit training to A school then report to your initial unit. Where you will drill 1 weekend a month, 2 weeks a year. Hopefully this helps!

    Question, after boot camp you mentioned the leave, then the days they give you to get to your first station. I live in cali. After boot camp, if I wanted to fly home then fly to my first unit do they cover it? Or is it out of my pocket?

    • @jacobbarth2879
      @jacobbarth2879 Год назад

      If you don’t fly from cape may to your first unit you pay for the flights and then they reimburse you based only on what the cost would be from cape may to your first unit. So if that cost $300 and you flying home then to your unit cost $500 your out $200.

The needs of the service do come first. The CG has flipped flopped with billet choices from where you rank in your company to first come first served. When I graduated from Parris Island back in 1988, my Mom wanted to go and see the P.I. museum. We were already in my parents car. I quickly replied to my Mom's request when I said the following:
    "Can we just leave? "Can we just get off of this island?" My Mom really wanted to see the museum. My Dad who had served in the Army chipped in: "I know how he feels Martha! "We'll go!"

    Dont you go to your jobs training before going to a duty station?

    • @AndreMilla
      @AndreMilla  6 лет назад +5

      Edward Aparicio when you go to the recruiting office your recruiter will show you all the jobs you qualified for. He/she will explain that certain jobs have a guaranteed "A" school attached with a bonus if you choose that particular job. These jobs are usually jobs that the Coast Guard desperately needs to be filled up. If you don't choose one of those jobs then you won't get a guaranteed "A" school right after bootcamp, thus becoming a nonrate.

    • @edwardaparicio49
      @edwardaparicio49 6 лет назад +1

      TheAndreLifestyle so to my knowledge if your job requires "A" school then you have to go there before going to the first duty station?

    • @AndreMilla
      @AndreMilla  6 лет назад +1

      Edward Aparicio yeah to be a nonrate. Then you're put on the waiting list to go to your job training. Depending on the job you choose; will determine how long you're gonna be waiting to go to your "A" school

      Naieb Philip beard no unless you have a shaving profile. You get a shaving profile if it is deemed that you get razor bumps or skin irritation when you shave. As for your head hair you can grow it out but the sides of your hair can't be touching your ears. Also, your hair on top can't be extremely long either. I put gel my hair and comb it. Works for me 🤷🏻‍♂️

      Right after boot camp I went to a base with no housing, and the first day had to fine my own apartment. Then, went to BM school, made BM 3 after that, and went to Kodiak Security Detachment, then was sent to a Naval Security Detachment for a 1 1/2 TAD in Florida tell the end of my enlistment filling a E 6 billet, but did some under cover work for the Coast Guard, why working for the Navy. A great job.
