The second and last time Trinidad and Tobago took home the crown. Hopefully some day in the future when T&T decides to become serious about the competition again we'll have our 3rd winner.

Notable candidates that year were Miss Costa Rica Kisha Alvarado also competed and won Miss Asia Pacific 1998 and Miss Honduras Dania Prince also competed and won Miss Earth 2003 both held here in the Philippines.

Miss Honduras, Dania Prince won all her pageants. Most notably Miss Earth 2003. She deserves a placement more than any of this girls.
I can see miss Honduras when the last spot Puerto Rico was called, you can see she's disappointed she didn't made it. glad she won miss earth five years later

So many years passed and still feels like Bonaire was robbed. If she placed this would have been the third yeard where A,B,C (Aruba,Bonaire,Curaçao) islands placed in a row. Too bad we dont see Bonaire at MU anymore.

I love this format! Just the Top 10. No more, no less. Just the Top 10 highest composite scores, the cream of the crop! No wildcards!
Wild cards are giving chance to eliminated candidates. You cannot say the top 10 are really cream of the crop, they are also luckiest. But if someone eliminated earlier is/are given a chance, it can be a game changer because the finals night is back to zero and anyone can win from that group
@@taroupriapus9760 But that only means that they are not consistent because they did not do well during the prelims and did not reach the Top 10. You don't slack at one point and recover on another. You have to do good at all times!

Preliminaries is different from finals night, oftentimes there's a separate set of judges in preliminaries and another set of celebrity judges on finals night. Just because someone didn't enter top 10 in preliminaries doesn't mean they aren't good, they aren't lucky that day. Often the highest placers in preliminaries didn't win, there are times the 10th place in preliminaries or a wild card ended up winning because the finals judges liked them
@@taroupriapus9760 I get all that you are saying. My point is, if you are really good and want to win, why perform less at prelims and be almost eliminated? Regardless of what round it is, you should do good! And not wait for the finals after being given a second chance.

It's not that they performed "less" in the preliminaries. It's that they arent lucky enough to earn high points during that time, many times before someone was average on preliminaries but shone her full potential in the finals night. Also there are those who excelled in preliminaries but lost heat/performance in the finals. Dont forget the set of judges are different, many times judges in preliminaries sabotage certain girls they find a strong contender to ruin hr chances of placing, they do it out of politics, money, racism or just pure malice. Adding wild cards balance that, to give more girls a chance to win in the finals night

Este fue el robo más grande a Venezuela, admito que haya perdido en otras ocasiones la corona, pero este ha sido la única edición donde se puede decir con toda propiedad que se Venezuela "la robaron" esa 👑 MU1998 y donde la regalo en MU 2012. Únicas ediciones donde hubo perdidas fatales para Venezuela.
I have no clue why none of these women made it to the cut: Argentina, Australia, Bonaire, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, Paraguay, Philippines, Slovak Republic, Switzerland, Ukraine, and Zimbabwe. In my opinion, Ireland, Russia, and India were super-overrated to be in the Top 10.

Brazil, Colombia and T.Tobago were stanning in person, the 3 most beautiful girls of the Top 3. Venezuela was cute but lack of personality and Bonaire was gorgeous but did not make it in the semifinalists. I was there in the audience in Hawai
