Which Banks diesel crate engine configuration are you most interested in; single turbo, supercharged or supercharged twin-turbo? In what vehicle would you install it?
I am most interested in a turbocharged 3-liter, six cylinder VM Motori (Chrysler) diesel engine (preferrably turbocompounded like the Curtis-Wright R3350) that I want to put in a Superlight Coupe SLC, a component car.
I would like to see a supercharged twin turbo as long as the turbos can be place properly. I dont like turbos that eat up all your engine bay space. A supercharged engine with twin turbos integrated into the frame/sheet metal like they do on the corvette would be awesome and a killer setup.
I love the OEM level engineering that goes into a hot rod project due to the "bleed over" from your military contracts. Clearly any crate engine you sell will excel in durability and reliability. Engineering second to none!

In Oz, Ford made it possible on the supercharged coyotes to run air con refrigerant through the intercooler the same way you are using water. What a great channel you guys produce. well done.
I have used 12 rib serpentine belts on centrifugal supercharger. We always had problems keeping the belt from slipping even with a lot of tension. The other problem was the belt getting out of shape at higher RPM. Since your are running a slower turning diesel you might stay within the belts abilities. We found that anything over 6000 RPM caused belt issues.
My first ever car was a little diesel car called a 94 Citröen AX mk2 and it had a 1.36 liter (89 cubic in) inline 4 atmospheric indirect injection engine in it, spewing out just a few donkeys above 50 hp and spending around 4l/100km (~59 mpg). Great stuff - learning a lot!! Can you go more into detail about how you are calculating air mass density in the iDash? Thinking of humidity and the various constants in the formular. Or do you just take mass, temperature and pressure into account to make it simpler? Anyway the humidity is what it is from ambient weather - I think. Again - thanks for sharing - I am applying MAD-calculation now on my own Jag - 2,7 liter V6 diesel to analyze how it is performing with 1,7 bar boost (2,7 bar abs.) and a lot of fuel - excited to see the resuts :-)
I would say the packaging will be a major factor of the power combination. IMHO a compound turbo would be the tightest packaging but if there is a set up with just a supercharger, that would look the best. Also a remote trans filter and cooler would give the extra clearance with a modified pan.
Mainstream media could DEFINITELY take some notes!! Your video production is off the charts! I expect to see some banks engineered camera mounts and accessories in the future... have a feeling that the current market is lacking. Lol. If there was a Banks channel to pay for monthly i would drop Netflix instantly!
I just ordered a 2021 Ram 3500 and I am excited to see what you guys do with your 6.7 cummins you bought a few months ago. Any update on what the plans are with that truck?
This may or may not have been mentioned earlier in these comments, but I'll do so again if it has. Instead of using the antiquated method of using a wet system to drop the intake air temperature, and I do realize that this method does have a parasitic draw on the power being built by itself. But if you use the built in refrigeration system, by doing this, not only will you get much needed drop in temperature across the entire set of runners going into the combustion chamber. But too much drop, can be counterproductive, and since we're in control of the device that's making it possible, we can now variy the cooling temperature by cycling the system through a remote sensor. To make things even more better, we have the ability to cool the interior of the truck equally as well, and from the same system already possibly in use cooling the charged air for the engine. By simply installing a set of solenoids, we can use the compressor simultaneously, without having a detrimental effect on the volume of refrigerant needed to one or the other if that's the case. As mentioned earlier, you can also monitor, and control the ambient temperature inside the manifold runner's, allowing for optimal efficiency of the intake system, and that of the interior of the truck. Thus reducing the maintenance, and not having to be dependent of someone remember to drain, and flush, and add ice to the system, if there's any available at the time it's needed. Just a gift from Mr. Carrier himself, the man that invented the whole concept, and reality of refrigeration, and dehumidifacation that is still beneficial for the majority of the World's population still today. Even if we have to pull it part of the drain system to flush anything from the lines, it doesn't mean that the system is inoperable even then. With one more advantage, it's also a green resource, because it generates clean h2o, and doesn't take away from the environment by using fresh water to cool the system. Just a thought, slightly over explained, as is typical of anything I do. Hope it meets your needs, and I would think that it would be the better choice of anything out there.
Here is the latest update for the other engine projects series. 1. The Super Turbo (Monster Truck Engine) is in the process of being upgraded which means pulling everything off the current 7.0 LMM, making adjustments and changes, then installing them all on a newer first-gen L5P block. Also, bring it back to the dyno cell is on hold while we conduct testing for our military program in Dyno Cell # 1. 2. Dyno Cell # 2 for “Killing a Duramax” is down while we update and upgrade to our new engine AVL dyno/emissions equipment.
I've been working on a similar build in a k20 and the stock exhaust manifolds needed trimming to fit in-between the frame rails with the frame boxed, I'm not sure that you're manifolds will fit due to the extra width of them. The oil cooler was a fitment issue as well.

@@bankspower I want to come intern with Gale so bad, can you guys please make this a dream come true before it's not possible anymore
I would say the packaging will be a major factor of the power combination. IMHO a compound turbo would be the tightest packaging but if there is a set up with just a supercharger, that would look the best. Also a remote trans filter and cooler would give the extra clearance with a modified pan.
Great information and love watching the engineering involved. Great job guys
Gale is an American treasure !
If it's got your name on it, do it right. My dad taught me that DECADES ago. You feel the same way, I see. If you own it, OWN IT!! Good job, Sir.
Gale needs to open up a performance school. Gale will forget more than most people will know.
You're looking at the performance school, you can watch anytime, anywhere.
Another great banks video. This truck is going to be so bad ass. Cant wait!
listening to all this marine application of the duramax has me wondering how I can convince the wife that our 22' regal needs a duramax repower !!!
Thanks Gale I am excited about the build! Any trick ideas for the CT6-V for more power?
Not at this time, Gales says he likes the Cadillac the way it is. Something may come in the future.
We're not in the camera accessories biz, but it's a nice compliment. Thank you!
Great video 👍 Manifold Heat shield make a stainless cover with
vermiculite plates .
When will we see the banks derringer for 2021 6.7 powerstroke
Can’t wait till Banks does the first Freevalve diesel, that’s going to be an amazing pairing 👍
Thanks Gail love this program
Biggest fan from sweden
Frederick, thanks for watching Banks Built! We love hearing from our Banks fans from around the world.
What happened to the kill a duramax series?
Also any plans on 6.4L Hemi superturbo setup?
We're handing the engine CAD file over to Roadster Shop for chassis design. They'll work their magic.
@@bankspower ya I'm sure you'll make it work and it's goona be kick ass when it's done. I don't have the ability to do that fancy stuff so I just have to make it work what ever way I can. Can't wait to see yours done that's for sure!
Also the diesel brothers did a sick build they did for chyanne lord with a custom built tube frame I'm sure they have that file saved on a computer and could whip one out pretty fast also.
Love the series, keep it up Gale!
I love the videos and the quality is great. Please keep em coming.
Thanks for watching!
