This is truly a pleasure to watch! Engineering, AutoCAD, fabrication, welding, cool tools, great personalities and appearances by Mr. Gale Banks makes this site so awesome to watch! Thanks for the great entertainment!
The attention to detail that you all have for something that others might consider a minor element - or even overlook entirely - is incredible! It's also why I'm loving every episode of this build! You guys are taking the time to savor the joy that comes with being incredibly creative on something that, in the overall picture of things, probably doesn't matter at all! This is how Engineering should work! Also, if this is how you guys do hood hinges, I can't wait to see what the real, sheet metal fabrication turns into!!
Thanks for watching, we love hearing this feedback from our fans. Terms hot rodding, science, and engineering is Banks. This is how we build what we build.
Thank you. When the guys started laying out the designs for the hood we knew we needed something special for the hinge system, almost like Koenigsegg with their custom door hinges.
Sweet fabrication. You might find a need for triangular gussets on the core support to firewall braces to help with side to side forces and sheet metal alignment needs. Ties bars might do it as well. There's a lot of weight with that hood so dynamic forces while driving will be working much on those braces.
How many pencils and trees died when that stock truck was designed back in the day. Today.......CAD. It's amazing the hood panels were that close that the mirrored brackets fit as good.
Now you have a ready structure for replacement splash guards....I will be waiting to see what you all do. Also "nice job on the design and fabrication"
Awesome fabrication guys! I was wondering how you were going to support the hood side. I have a 64 Suburban and know there’s no natural strength where your trick hood hinges meet it. The starfish pieces was a great solution. And I like that the Banks name was cut the right way up for when the hood opens.
love the badass hood hinge..... im no engineer by any stretch of the imagination so all i can do is ask questions and sound ignorrant but this hinge looks to me like a guy could mount it differently to allow hood to open from one side? orrrr really any direction that doesnt hit glass lol
Seems the hinges should have been doubled on both sides. Half inch (example) Delrin bushings or slim roller bearings at all of the thru points. It would seems to give more lateral support and significantly reduce side load sway. Then again I’m just a broke professional RUclips viewer - also enjoying the imitation Issac Hayes 70’s music they inserted at 14:32.
Personally, I'd make bushes sized to a longer bolt, tighten bolts with bushes in place, tack and then weld.... a bit of grease and done...thread the bush on one side, for even less slop & eliminate the nut.
@@charlesangell_bulmtl Something. Mishandling that hood, someone accidentally leaning on it (while it is up) or even a strong wind and that current hinge system looks to be the glass jaw.
Both the Super Turbo (Monster Truck Engine) and the L5P for “Killing a Duramax” on hold for an extended duration while we conduct testing for our military program in Dyno Cell # 1 & #2. We have no ETA on when we will resume the project.
Dangerous having a front hinged hood. Studies and stats have found the hood will go trough the windshield possibly decapitating the people inside. Some engineers you are.

Not AutoCAD! Regardless, some impressive 3D software and equally impressive drawing skills displayed here. Love it.

Little things, like hinges, take so much time. These will be a showcase item to demonstrate your custom approach. YOUR hinges make it work. Bravo !
Thank you. When the guys started laying out the designs for the hood we knew we needed something special for the hinge system, almost like Koenigsegg with their custom door hinges.
I hope Banks pays these guys well, because they are top-notch.
That gap.. that gap was AMAZING. after all that work. Holy cow. Amazing
Thank you for watching, glad you enjoyed watching the video. Stay tuned for more action.
"should we get our shop boy to help us?" *immediate cut to jay the "intern"* LOL! the curved square tubing looks sick too, great job
I laughed so hard at this part
Nice! Love watching craftsmen fab stuff up and solve problems. These guys are good.
Thanks for watching, love to hear this feedback from our fans.
The phone will be ringing off the hook after this for orders banks reversed hood hinges 👍💯!!!!
Great job fellas 👍💯🇦🇺🦘🦘🦘
Thanks for watching, stay tuned for more action.
Slick. Just plain and simple slick. Most excellent job guys!
Thank Jeff, appreciate it!
Yup, very neat hinge solution!
Very, very nice bracing solution and workmanship!
17:45 - BURN! 🤣
😄😄
14:00 - the angel chior…ROFL!! Genius 😂
There is no other way to describe the feeling.
Kool Hindges, Excellent Work!!!
Let me see if I got this straight......... you guys are getting PAID to do this??? Nice! The best of both worlds.
Yes indeed, best job ever.
Since there’s only a few comments, I just wanted to say hi to Mr. Banks…Hi Gale!
Howdy!
Yo the engineering!!! So freaking good gentlemen. Keep it up!!
Much appreciated!
This is a great episode. I can see these guys are putting in the long hours to move the project along.

This trucks gonna be a game changer
You know it.

Do you guys ever get the feeling that Gale is always watching? 🤔 12:42
Always 😂😂
Now you have a ready structure for replacement splash guards....I will be waiting to see what you all do. Also "nice job on the design and fabrication"
That is cool - nice job on the design and fabrication!!
Great to see even at Banks the guys work on the floor sometimes
"If Jeremy Clarkson were an engineer" Love that comment! Jezza would have gone for the RBFH tho, not the MBFH on the floor!
I was starting to think we wouldn’t get a video this week😂 keep it up
Some last-minute video needed to be filmed, apologies for the delay.
Every Bit Of This, Has Only Been Quality Work, NCT Approves It!!! 👍
Nice T-shirt Matt! Go Mustangs!!

Thanks, love to hear this kinda feedback from fans.
Yes! I can watch it this time!
10:46 Sam the Cooking Guy!! “Gorgeous!!!”
Love the cutout of Gale Banks seeing stuff come together.
Yup, a bunch of guys got a kick out of it.
After lockjaw we need to continue these builds.
That's the plan! Gales has plans for Pikes Peak.
Needs a nice Mechman 400A alternator to run those air compressors 👌🏻 #mechmanalternators
Well done. These are really exciting episodes. Thanks for educating and entertaining us.
Thanks for watching.
You should mass produce those hinges and sell 'em!
Hmmm, maybe.
Best episods yet, no bullshit
Thank you for watching, stay tuned for more.
And the magic continues
Yes, magic and science.
Looks amazingly done. Love the design work on the hinges. Are you going to use the same hinge style on the back of the bed as well?
This truck is one amazing build. I'm hoping that you're getting it ready to display at the SEMA Show?
If I ever win the lottery I'm calling Banks & say "I want 1", when he's says "1 what? ", I'll say "1 of everything "
Deal.
Serious team work 💪
Team work makes the dream work. 😎👍🏻
Impedance matched linear armature impacting device, human energised
Ohhhh man! can't wait to see it tear some rubber!
Same here.
Sounds like they changed , the music, or the same 80 theme songs, so funny.
I love the “No way it’s perfect.” 😂
😂😂
7:48 oops we're did that part go 🤣🤣🤣
The old forgot to tab the smaller parts, I tend to do that on our waterjet haha.
Banks should do a video on the Mercedes 300D turbo. I think a lot of people would really appreciate it.
Cool idea, however, laser focus on our Duramax for this Hot Rod project.
My brother didn't do the butt crack on his Beetle, but put a cooler on the roof . The fan still cooled the heads too.
Are you going to make the hinges available for purchase?
Right now, these are custom one-offs.
Beautiful👍
What about allowing for front turning radius when slammed? Those mock up braces look to be too close to the tires
The truck won't be moving when it's slammed however good point in case the wheels are steered before the truck gets slammed
Jacob is correct. When the truck is slammed, it will not be moving. To move, LokJaw will fully inflate the airbag system.
@@bankspower But you will need to make sure your front tires are perfectly straight before you drop.
So guys would some AN bolts help close those clearances up in the hinge so it’s a little tighter?
It’s called a percussive adjustment tool!
Perhaps you overlooked tyre clearance with the steering not in the straight ahead position??
17:48 CLARKSONNNNNN!

Something. Mishandling that hood, someone accidentally leaning on it (while it is up) or even a strong wind and that current hinge system looks to be the glass jaw.
If ya let me know how much ya could build me a set of hindges for my 1961 ford FALCON I'd love a set
For now, these are custom one-offs. However, We could do something in the future.
I may have missed it. What are the metal things on the drivers side front tire. What purpose do they serve? Great project thanks.
What time stamp?
I wonder how well it cleared when they steer the wheel and the caster picks up the front end.,..
It will clear just fine with the bags fully inflated, if its on the ground, not so much.
I just noticed the cardboard cutout of gale in the backround, lol
Howdy
Not that it matters but who do you guys think actually owns this truck? Is it banks or is it jays and building it through banks for some content?
The truck is owned by Banks.
You're hand is a "meat mallet"
That's what she said.
Shop boy Nice title
I don’t know how you struggle thru the day, in that shop. You poor guy. Hang in there you’ll eventually get somewhere in life. Lol
Does anyone know when the killing a duramax is coming back
Both the Super Turbo (Monster Truck Engine) and the L5P for “Killing a Duramax” on hold for an extended duration while we conduct testing for our military program in Dyno Cell # 1 & #2. We have no ETA on when we will resume the project.
Alright where's the song list!?
It is a music service, Epidemic Sound.
That guy looks like Matt Gamble but his shirt is tucked in. Weird.
17:48 If Jeremy Clarkson was an Engineer.
He is an Engineer but he doesnt know anything about cars.
