Just bought the Tecnam through your link! I plan to build it straight to floats. Will remove the rudder for snow flying, put it back on for water! Wheels will go to the spare parts bin.
This is a Fantastic plane, on and off the water. I am very confident that you’ll consider this one of your best plane purchases, hopefully ever. Please let me know your thoughts, and thanks for your support! 👍😁😎⚓️
Steve that’s pretty much my plan as well, although I’m not so sure I want to fly in the cold anymore.🙃 I’m anxious for this one to arrive and hopefully get a chance to get it on the water before weather and wind set in. This has been a bit of a rough year for flying opportunities and so far not one flight off water. Hopefully next year changes all that because for me there is nothing more peacefully gratifying than float flying during that golden hour at sunset.
Wow, I bought this plane with your coupon code about 3 months ago and must admit your review sold me. Now for my experience, I have never flown a float plane before and this one is just Amazing!!! Solo flight was extremely well done with exception of my first landing which caused a tip over, resulting in the plane being upside down in the water. The amazing thing is it floats way high in the water and nothing got wet except the prop. I used scotch tape to seal all the screws and holes in the bottom to keep out the water and protect the screws which are most likley stainless anyway but just wanted to be safe. I have tried it with wheels too and it is also amazing. Just Love this plane. Gonna set it up with FPV next.
WHAT a BIG, COOL plane!! Your second loop looked like it ALMOST stopped the top then gently swooped downwards, SWEET!! ABBY, great droan chasing and NATE, flight couldn't have been smoother!! Thanks Saylors for making Float Week HONESTLY FUN!! 💟👍😘
I am really enjoying float week. The Tecnam is the plane I am learning on right now and the Vector System works very well. I hope to try out the floats soon. Thanks for all the great content.
So, I definitely noticed one thing missing from Float Week. I know Nate has every Timber known to man, so I cant believe we didnt see the king of float flying this week :)
It's $250 with a $50 discount, so $200, which is still a pretty good deal. Arrows planes are really good in my opinion, I just wish they would adopt the electrical connector setup for the wings like all the FMS planes, I don't think it would add much to the cost of the plane.
Watching the water drops was cool, I wouldn't have noticed if you didn't say anything. I watched and did see some drops later too. Get home today I'll look for some floats for the Mini Appreciate, and I would just taxi around before I actually try flying with them.
You must have shot the whole Float-week in a day, as you never ever could have had that much wind-free days :-) Great plane btw. And cool that you picked up filming chase footage again (could have been a tad closer at that last landing ;-) )
We did! Lol, which doesn’t happen too often. However we tried to get ahead knowing windy weather was coming. It paid off! I only had one battery per plane, which I had to save enough for chase shots 😁 And Abby only had one battery in total to get all chase shots! Talk about an efficient, lucky day! 👍😎⚓️

I have 11 rc road vehicles which are trucks, buggies, an offroad racing beetle, a chariot. I also have one drone and a speed boat (I haven't took it out for a run yet, I'll do it next year). I always wanted a plane which they are cool (I want a prop). Are there any suggestions of prop planes and how good are they?
I’ve got two awesome suggestions for you. One under $200, great for limited flying space, and the other is over $200 and just the best trainer plane money can buy. Which route would you prefer?
@@TheRcSaylors I need to see for myself. Thanks for suggestions. A quick question what are the advantages of RC buggies as opposed to trucks. I'm just started to get back into the hobby after a long 17 yrs (now 27) and I know the RC game has changed. Any tips and pointers if I were to use one of my 11 RC to race with since I'm rusty?

@@TheRcSaylors thank you I appreciate that . I got that sport cub s 2 about a month ago . I accidentally drop the controller . and broke the 3 way switch . I got one on the way from eBay . and a week ago I bought the 64 mm blue camo jet . I put it together . and the directions said to use a thread locking compound . so I use regular blue Loctite (medium) from the auto parts store . I think it melted the plastic on those plastic covers for the rear landing gear , they cracked and broke . I'll fix it some how . I like your videos .
It definitely is and has to do with orientation. Mainly when the plane is in a turn or coming at you. You have to get your brain use to reversing the control inputs or you can easily go into a nose dive. But, a lot of new trainer planes now have a recovery system that saves it when you let go of the inputs and levels it out.
I like some others want to get this plane i have the aeroscout but as a beginner I have questions on getting an setting up a reciever and would the aeroscout transmitter work with this plane. (what reciever and how do you install it and set it up , if you have a video on this please direct me)
That would look odd and EDF are already less battery efficient than propeller planes, floats would probably half your flying time on an EDF which would make for approximately 2-3 minute flight.
I appreciate that this comes with both wheels and water accessories but without battery and transmitter and receiver I think I'll be dead in the water so if you could please provide some advice on the exact items to purchase I'm not looking for the luxury but really something practical as I will have this as my first plane though I have experience with a mini 2.
Just because your big, doesn't mean you aren't agile. Nate you showed it very much is-- big & agile. So it taxies on the water, does that make it a water taxi 🚕 ❓ if so what are your rates 🤔 😁😁😏😏. Fine ending to float not a boat, but plane week 🤗🤗. ⚓⚓👍💚💜💛👍🤔😁🤗👍⚓⚓.
My Tecnam is a dedicated float plane. Too many issues with the front landing gear not being sturdy enough for me. I added servo extensions for the flaps/ailerons. This way, I can slide the wings on/off the wing spar without having to disconnect the wires. I swing the wings back towards the tail and secure them against the fuselage with an elastic hair band (stolen from my daughter LOL) It takes < 5 minutes to take apart or reinstall. It easily sits on my back seat. (2000 toyota avalon). One more thing I did was replace the four flat head screws that hold the wing on with thumb screws so I don't need a driver for that. I'm sorry I can't recall the size for those. Maybe M2x10mm??? Please don't quote me on that one. There are cotter pins to hold the wing struts on. Those are super quick to install/uninstall. Wish we could add photos so you can see my set up.
3 blade props are are way less efficient, and put a bigger load on the ESC and battery. They look good, and give more ground clearance but you lose all types of performance.
I'm just here to Second what Sno River RC said, two bladed props are far more efficient. I've seen several people at RC clubs replace the 3 blade prop on their Turbo Timbers with 2 bladed props.
I'm relatively new to your channel, so you may have answered this question before, but is your wife flying the drone that takes the great in the air shots?
I have a FMX Cessna 182 Seaplane. I've never flown it. I bought it new a couple of years ago. I don't know how to fly them and I'm afraid I will crash it. I bought another trainer airplane with several safty functions. I will learn how to fly that them get an experienced pilot to help me with the Seaplane.
Actually, yes. I’d say if you were fairly efficient on a 2200mah battery you could easily hit a 20 minute flight time. If you bump up to maybe a 3200mah or larger, you could probably achieve close to a 40 minute flight time. Then there’s always owning two or more batteries, which means you could fly for hours on end without stopping longer than 20 seconds to swap batteries 👍😁😎⚓️
@@TheRcSaylors I'd take that bet. :^) I've done many flights with mini talons which is much more efficient airframe and on 4S I have run 40 minutes at around 3200ma. At 3s it would be much less. I suspect that plane would be in the 25 min range with a 3s 3200. The arrows plane does look like a nice flyer. Great video!
They have a link you can see how much the plane costs and have a $50 coupon code. Transmitters vary in price depending on brand/functions they support/channels, batteries are also going to vary in price based on brand/amount of cells/mah and discharge rating. If you don't have any of the items you asked about this plane is probably not for you, this is a good second or third plane.
I can never see your discounts, In the comments. Where exactly are they? You always say they're down below but I can never find them. Might just be me I guess. Oh, word is out that Horizon Hobby was bought out by a Chinese outfit. I usually try to buy from Hobby Zone. You can actually talk to a real human up there on the phone. Great float week. If you get a minute, see if you could put the discount link where even I can find it. Thanks, you guys are a blessing to RC.
Do you have an example of such a bold statement? AMA is less than $100 a year, which is cheap even for the magazines alone. I don’t know what you expect for something so cheap (a relative term) but we have seen them step in to help fellow club mates and do exactly what they are there for. Also, they do cover you at non AMA sanctioned flying locations. Please feel free to look this up just so you can see for yourself 👍😁😎⚓️
@@TheRcSaylors Unlike you, I’ve read it. It covers essentially nothing. Read up before recommending such an awful product. Here are just a few of the endless gotchas… “AMA insurance is “excess” to any other applicable coverage, such as homeowner’s.” “Reimburses medical expenses only after submission to any other health plan, including Medicare.” “Applies to accidents arising from the modeling activities of model aircraft, rockets, cars and boats, in accordance with the AMA NATIONAL Safety Code(s).” “There is no coverage for injury to a member to his own family (Household and Relative(s) living in the member’s household) for claims or suits.” “The ‘per occurrence’ limit of coverage available by this policy is $2,500,000 involving bodily injury and/or property damage. Provides up to $25,000 for medical expenses and $10,000 for dismemberment or death.” Some of the endless exclusions: No coverage when an airplanes hits an airplane. No coverage for lost or interfered RC links. No coverage if the insured injures another insured. No coverage if the injured lives there. No coverage for injuries to people exercising, playing sports, or games or contests. No coverage for injuring employees of the premises. So if you kill someone other than the excluded, which is damn near impossible, while following the safety codes and while in control, you have $10,000 in coverage only if your insurance and theirs pays less than $10K. If you think the above is meaningful liability coverage, you’re nuts. I’m sure you only recommend it out of ignorance and not actually reading the policy and exclusions list.

Hey Nate, How easy is it to remove the wings for transport in my car.
Will this pair with the Spectrum NX8 transmitter ?
Yea
Hi
Like this rc
For $200 bucks....
I like to have one!
Where can I get this?
I think a 3 blade prop would really work well for this plane like the Turbo Timber STOL I have
3 blade props are are way less efficient, and put a bigger load on the ESC and battery.
✌🏻😎🏴Welcome to the community.
Abby usually pilots the plane while Nate chases with a drone.
Hey guys! Welcome Jury 😁 Believe it or not, it is the other way around for the last couple of years or so 👍😎⚓️
@@TheRcSaylors nice 👍🏻 I didn’t even notice the switch. I just knew Abby was getting better at flying planes 👍🏻
Nice toy, your kids must love it,
I wanted this for 200.00.. The sale price was 500.. You got a better link?
It’s $250 here with our $50 off coupon code
bit.ly/3CNVAGj
Or even cheaper for the version without floats.
Whats the run time on it?
Sort of depends what battery you install and how you fly it. Could easily get 20-30 minute flights on one battery though. Thanks for watching! 👍😁😎⚓️
Can it fly 20 minutes or more like my nitro planes?
For 200 dollars the joy you get is 2000 dollars👌
How much plane,transmitter,batteries
They aren't in the comments, the links are in the description for the video - right below it you have to click show more.
1450mm huge?
For under $200 YES 👍💯😎⚓️
Code isn't working..
Google bot: “flying over White House” :detected. *Added to NSA list 1.01.00.849.*
🤣🤣🤣
AMA is a ripoff, if you own a home you have liability coverage. And unlike AMA insurance, it covers you when flying at an AMA field.
@@TheRcSaylors
Unlike you, I’ve read it. It covers essentially nothing. Read up before recommending such an awful product. Here are just a few of the endless gotchas… “AMA insurance is “excess” to any other applicable coverage, such as homeowner’s.”
“Reimburses medical expenses only after submission to any other health plan, including Medicare.”
“Applies to accidents arising from the modeling activities of model aircraft, rockets, cars and boats, in accordance with the AMA NATIONAL Safety Code(s).”
“There is no coverage for injury to a member to his own family (Household and Relative(s) living in the member’s household) for claims or suits.”
“The ‘per occurrence’ limit of coverage available by this policy is $2,500,000 involving bodily injury and/or property damage. Provides up to $25,000 for medical expenses and $10,000 for dismemberment or death.”
Some of the endless exclusions:
No coverage when an airplanes hits an airplane.
It shows me in the link this plane is $250 not $200
Read the description. It's $50 off if you buy through the link.
You have to apply the coupon code: TECNAM50 at checkout
