iFixit yeah one way to fix that is maybe don’t make your videos feel like you’re rushing. Your videos are always over before they even started and it’s a lot of info to take in in such a short time.
I am really happy with what ifixit is doing. I like repairing things instead of buying new ones. I hate how these companies are creating a use and throw market with all glued products. Its time someone stood up to them.
it's very nice that they made these repairable they could've very easily just decided to glue the halves together permanently, and say you have to buy the new ones, when they fail
For the $100 they costed me I absolutely adore these earphones, bass goes bananas with a good eq (wavelet in my case) and the 11h battery life in a single charge means you practically feel no difference from using wired earphones as you never have to worry about charging them during the day. The fact that they’re so easily repairable is the icing on the gourmet cake.

I don't have a vise handy, but a pair of channel locks worked just fine. I used a piece of cardboard between the headphones and the channel locks to keep it from damaging the plastic.

My right ear bud is quieter than the left and I can't get the little piece of mesh off. I already accidentally stabbed myself using a knife like I saw in another video. Any good tips on getting it off to clean the mesh behind it without too much damage?
Would love to see more. Found this vid because I'm looking for a way to clean the filter from the inside. The galaxy buds have a tendency to get clogged & end up with reduced sound. I've been trying for months to fix them from the outside, but no amount of cleaning seems to help. I've tried every trick there is but it's definitely time to crack them open. Seeing how the drivers come out would be really helpful. I'm worried I'll take that half apart to access the filter & not be able to get it back together.
@@jacksta95 Good actually. Found a tutorial somewhere but can't remember where. I took the silicone tips off & used a pin to pull out the metal grilles. Under those there's a fine black mesh which I removed with tweezers. The grille & mesh are glued in, so be careful not to bend or rip them. At the moment I'm using the silicone tips to hold it all back together, since the glue isn't the reusable kind. But if you do some research you might be able to find the right kind & v carefully re-glue them. I didn't want to risk clogging mine with glue, so I haven't bothered. Immediately fixed the issue. I'm using them now & they're fine. No need to take the bud itself apart. Very easy fix.
I was about to throw my pair away after the right side stoped working. It still drained battery from the case, but simply didn't connect to my phone. My last resort was this video (without it I would never even know where to begin to take it apart). I pried it open, disassembled it until I reached the battery, gave it a charm rub and reassembled it (doing nothing else). It got back from the dead and I don't have to purchase a new one. Thanks a lot!
Just a little helpful info, I had little trouble separating the halves of my buds with just my thumbnail. Of course, I can do the same to most tablets and phones too as long as it isnt a glass rear cover, but what I'm trying to say, is there is no need to squeeze them in a vise to get them open. A guitar pick or something of the like should be able to have you inside in no time. save the vise for apple products lol.
HOLY CRAP you're right! I just popped my left bud open with my thumbs ... at some point the battery in that one got completely drained and hasn't held a charge for more than 2 hours while in use. Ordering a new battery right now.

@@SherJanhehe not at all a problem with listening to music, podcasts, RUclips, social media, ect. There is a gaming mode that halves the latency. That feature is only available for android but overall the latency seems perfectly fine. That being said I do not play many games that require a low latency, but I've also heard from other reviewers that the latency is decent.
It's much easier using 2 of the blue iFixit Pry Tools at opposite ends of the bud's housing arrows, facing away from each other. Then, once the tool's ends are placed inside their crevasses near the arrow, the priers can be tilted toward each other to then push open the bud with equal force at both sides. No vice required and much easier to control.
Yes, no vice required. Don't risk cracking the housing. You don't even need to pry apart, they have a very slight twist threading. Just twist the parts in opposite directions, though it takes considerable effort due to a small securing tab near the arrows. Snaps back together at the arrows easily.
How do I clean my earbuds, I can't hear but 5% in the left one and 10% in the right one. I have found no video that shows how to fix this unless you basically destroy the mesh screen over the drivers. ??
How do you repair the tiny gold charging pins on the galaxy buds live? It seems to be a known defect for this model where one or more pin breaks but is still attached to the housing unit by a tiny spring. It won't charge unless it's in the perfect position with the case open

That was great! The gentle squishing in the vice part is actually where the magic happens. Without that, no matter how hard you pry, you're not getting in there. I was getting no bass, had to clean some gunk out of the middle vent hole (the hole in the white bit, and the white chip beside the connector it sits on). It's still low volume compared to the other one, but at least I can balance them out now.
Where to source the buds and charging case batteries? Are there replacement grilles and filter/diaphragms available aftermarket? One failure mode is one or both of the buds having extremely low volume despite batteries being OK. This is due to wax and moisture solidifying the filter / diaphragm material. Without the filter/diaphragm I understand the sound loses relative mid and lower range.
Still rocking my buds plus bought in 2020.. the buds battery died last year, bought a replacement crack it open tool less, replaced the battery.. It's like replacing remote control easy.. but nowadays it have issue charging the buds battery.. not sure if the contact or the case battery needs replacing..

The part im reffering to is found after you remove the rubber things that fit in ur ear. Right from the little part the sound comes out of, theres a small round shaped "cover" with small holes in it. Probably to let sound out. So this part was abit loose after a wash down and lots of use, and it resulted in very wierd sound. When i removed the little "cover" the bad sound is gone and it sounds as good as ever. So with the exception of catching my ear gunk,(that will now have a free fall into housing of the buds) what function does this piece have? I would appreciate any help, thanks !!

Mine have a problem and the volume keeps changing differently for each bud after 6 months. I dont rate them well.

How the heck do you keep the 4 magnets in the bottom of the tray??? Due to polarity, they refuse to stay put no matter which way I place them.
