Prices for the New Defender V8 start at £98,505 for the 90 and £101,150 OTR for the 110 in the UK.
Land Rover Defender V8 builds on the rugged 4x4’s class-leading capability, delivering new levels of performance and driver engagement by combining a powerful 525 horsepower 5.0-liter V8 supercharged petrol engine with expertly developed suspension and transmission tuning to create the fastest and most dynamically rewarding Defender yet.
Power comes from Land Rover’s 5.0-liter V8 supercharged petrol engine, which produces 525 horsepower, 625Nm of torque and drives through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Defender V8 90 accelerates from 0-60mph in just 4.9 seconds (0-100km/h in 5.2 seconds) with a top speed of 149mph (240km/h) and delivers fuel consumption of up to 19.5mpg (14.5l/100km) with CO2 emissions from 327g/km.

Absolutely right even with all season road bias tire can make the vehicle going off road in perfect.

I've seen their stock offseason tires on stock 20"s puncture very easily.
That V8 is a demon. When you floor it even 110 prances. To think of such a heavy vehicle being so nimble is an awesome thing.

they have finally learned how to make an effective independent 4-wheel drive suspension that works. Until now 4 wheel drive off-roaders were actually really only 2-wheel drive even when 4-wheel drive was engaged and just 1-wheel drive when 4-wheel drive wasn't engaged unless diff lock was engaged and even then you wouldn't really get effective 4-wheel drive traction.
Is that drifting in the end done on 2x4 ?
You can't claim off-road with such tires, one of my biggest disappointments with the new defender is the wheel options

@@uGotGot1618 only in the four banger. Which is really too small for the four door. It’d probably be ok for the two door. Proud Rhino does make a conversion to run 18s, but the commenter is spot on- not even offering 18s as an option when it has been proven i can be done is a disappointment.
When I spec’d one out and it just said “offroad tires” without telling me size, brand, AT vs MT etc. I knew that the wheels and tires were going to be its Achilles heel. As if offroad tires are just all the same. People who actually go offroad will agonize over their tire choice and even go so far as to have different tires for different types of trails. Hell they’ll sit around and debate the pros and cons of different ones forever. Yet LR just offers “ offroad tires.” Yeah they’re aiming at people who just want to be able to say “I have offroad tires” when someone asks them what kind of tires they have while in line at Starbucks. Meanwhile anyone who actually offroads just shakes their head.

the sound and power is all good, but for extreme offroad, you do not want a V8 petrol engine. It is more prone to water damage, overheats more easily, and consumes extreme amounts of gas - you cannot keep up with diesel engine buddies before hitting a gas station.
This Rover is far from an Extreme off roader even if it had a tamer engine,.
In this real tested lacking of many outdoor gears, should have loaded with camping equipments. Putting the real loads in the vehicle and some on the outside of the truck for reaction of handling during extreme terrain off roads.

Guys I love everything about the car except the tires I swear those tires are not capable for mild or extreme offroad. Don't get me wrong it is a very great offroaders if you change those tires and put something proper on them.

This must be a promo reel. Tires switched out, bridges camouflaged on the actual rough parts of the trail etc.

As soon as a vehicle has tires with no sidewall, the off-road capability is near nil.

JLR vehicles are simply gorgeous. Reliability is a nightmare. Buy one for $100K plus and then it breaks after 200 miles. A bit of a head scratcher.

Yeah, I had an LR4. I loved that thing. But jumping is the last thing I ever would have done with it.

@@debasishghoshsays fragile might be too harsh of a word. But yes, there are more parts to break than on a coil and shock set up. The sensors are one of the most notorious if you are driving washboards for an extended period. And I would be worried about damaging the bags themselves jumping it. You also have the air hose lines that can come disconnected or break. The air compressor itself on the LR4 was towards the back and was pretty well protected- I don’t know where it is on the Defender. Thing is it only takes one small issue in any of those, or even a computer hiccup, and it will drop to the bump stops making it really tough to get home. I had mine for 125,000 miles with no issues. At 125,000 the air compressor went which was standard life for it. But I didn’t drive it offroad like these knuckleheads. My mantra is always: as slow as possible as fast as necessary. Driving any vehicle offroad like this is just asking for trouble from any vehicle. And if you’re 30 miles out in the wilderness and break something you can’t fix, it’s not gonna be fun.
The articulation and the air suspension were the two things that gave me pause when offroad with her (once you fix the major achilles heel of the wheels and tires), the rest of it was amazing and she’d go anywhere my buddies would go. The four wheel drive system is the best in the world except for a true front and rear locker system. The Defender is basically the new more offroad focused version of the LR4 so many of the issues (both good and bad) with the LR4 are carried over to it.

I had a 110 for a year... It was scary to use off road, because of the constant wheel lifting. Especially on steep rocky, rutted steep hills, where rolling was a real danger. Ultimately I went back to my already modded, supercharged 2019 4Runner TRD OR for my overland/off road use needs! I'm patiently waiting for the next Lexus GX 550, being unveiled in a week.☺️
At about 3:35 in, that type of excessive wheel lifting, then drop, is super dangerous and the main cause of rollovers, off road.
I'm not bashing the Defender, overall. It was super fun to drive, comfortable on road, and EXCELLENT for rallying at high speeds trails! Great fun there lol. It just isn't good for technical off road driving, because the IS lacks much needed articulation. It is like rock crawling in a sedan lol

The new Bronco is a far .ore capable off road machine than this pseudo off broader. This is all hype from Rover, let's see a new Defender conquer the Rubicon Trail and other similar trails, it will never make it with the low ground clearance and travel limited 4 wheel independent suspension.

actually, by being a farmer type I have a Defender and Subarus (Outbacks) and tbh the Subarus are very very good in the wet and mud. Surprisingly good. Defender is better in deep stuff or rocky terrain as in this video, but just normal muddy fields, there isnt a massive difference between the two vehicles

The articulation and suspension travel on that thing are comically shit. A Jeep Wrangler, which also comes with a V8 will absolutely wipe the floor with it off road.
But Defender must be weeeell better for fast offroad (till a tire get flat) or on road.
