I found it funny when Ebert called Kevin a "little twerp" 😂
I'm still completely dumbfounded that although both Siskel and Ebert gave thumbs down to Home Alone 2, five years later Ebert gave a positive review of Home Alone 3, which was a way worse movie.
I agree. Strange.
Home Alone 3 Is Ebert's biggest mistake of the 90's.
I loved Siskel and Ebert but their thoughts on some of the movies I loved and they didn't like by the way brought more money in at the box office then the ones they gave thumbs up for. But Home Alone 3 omg I thought I was going to pass out when Ebert gave it thumbs up. So in disbelief
Roger seemed to take offence to the Brenda Fricker scenes
I agree home alone three was more implausible because the parents leave every day and the traps are really specific like he has to know exactly where they’re gonna land. The first two home alone’s were less entertaining. The third one wasn’t.
The fact they don't mention Tim Curry's performance in HA 2 is a crime. He is a big reason I like the second one more.
everything Denzel said after 16:57 is so important. nothing but facts. holy shit.
Bad Lieutenant was and still awesome. I watched it on Thanksgiving morning for its belated 30th anniversary.
Ebert disliked Home Alone 1-2. But he gave a thumbs up for Home Alone 3. Yeah that really makes sense.
They both disliked Home Alone 1&2 but disagreed on Home Alone 3
Home Alone 2 was decent It was definitely worth reccommending , but It wasn't as good as the first.
the premise is so far fetched...as much as i love harry and marv they should of used new villains. ...them escaping jail and just so happen to run in to kevin in ny...is so silly
Sounds like Harry and Marv reviewing Home Alone 2.
I’m surprised they said that after the first one was such a big hit and they were so wrong about it.
The first 2 with Macaulay Culkin was so good and funny.
The 3rd one was so horrible and bad.
Honestly they had to be wrong again because people of course were excited about a sequel to see what happens next.
Ebert gave Home Alone 3 a thumbs up. Hilarious! But he liked a cop and a half aswell. That says a lot.
I’m a New Yorker myself, I’ve seen the first 2 films multiple times, 1 is obviously classic, 2 is great just to see my city in a form that I wasn’t alive to see, the traps in 1 are more tame and I love them, but 2 threw EVERYTHING at the wall in terms of traps and I like the extremity of them. When it comes to cameos, 2 had Trump and 1 had John Candy, so I think it’s OBVIOUS who got the better one. RIP John Candy and John Hughes 💯
Naturally, Culkin IS a Big Apple native. So.... it works.
Love Home Alone!!
I love Home Alone 2
Yeah, you're in it
I always love the 2 home alone movies, better.
Way better, as always.
I saw Home Alone 2 in theaters & even at 10yrs old, I totally agreed with Siskel & Ebert's "carbon copy" categorization. I LOVED the original (even though they didn't), but even seeing the trailer, I thought the plot of part 2 to be ridiculous. Like, how did they leave this kid AGAIN?..And how the hell did he end up in New York?
So, my main reason for seeing the sequel was out of curiosity.
Over time, I grew to appreciate the smaller moments (the "Christmas Star" scene & song ♥) & I watch '2' whenever it comes on TV during the holiday season for nostalgia sake. Despite it's formulaic mirroring of the original, it still has a few endearing qualities.
Home Alone 1-2 are classics. I don’t think anyone makes sure they watch the 3rd one every Christmas. Yet that is the only one Ebert liked.
It’s like preferring 3 Ninjas to Home Alone.
Home alone 2 is amazing. Maybe better than the first
Why do you say that?
I love Denzel in Training Day...but there's no reason in the world Keitel should not have gotten an Oscar nom at least...for Bad LT.
Okay well _Training Day_ was actually 9 years after this just so you know lol
@@olaoluwaafolayan6554 Had Bad Lieutenant been made years later, Keitel easily would've won especially taking in consideration that Nicolas Cage won an Oscar for Leaving Las Vegas which came out unrated as well as an R rating. Had they kept the falatio scene in that film, easily would've been an NC-17 without question. Still great to see Keitel give a brilliant performance.
The 10 year old me would’ve been pissed at Siskel&Ebert for sure over their review of _Home Alone 2_ but now that I’m in my late thirties, I completely get where they’re coming from.
Bad lieutenant 👍🌟🌟🌟
My new gun 👍🌟🌟🌟
Efficiency expert 👍🌟🌟🌟
I really love my first chris columbus flim Home Alone 2 was my number 1 favorite christmas movie of all-time that I watch it so much when I was a 10 year old child since December 2010 I'm really disappointed they give👎my number 1 all-time favorite christmas flim Home Alone 2
Boy were siskel and ebert wrong about the home alone series. Both movies with macuaully culkin they gave thumbs down. And yet, these two movies always play at Christmastime on tv. Talk about classics.
4:27-4:32 Thank you! During the climax of this movie, instead of laughing, I kept questioning how Harry and Marv were still alive after they had bricks thrown on their heads, got electrocuted, were set on fire, and fell several times.
Because the movie is a cartoon people watch it to have fun he like to match on a brick that only happens in Looney Tunes. If you want the movie to be realistic, that’s one thing but people probably just watch it to enjoy themselves during the holidays.
Denzel Washington is probably my favorite actor ever. I cant think of a time hes on screen where i dont stare unblinking at everything he does
My reviews: out of 5
1 " Home Alone 2 - Lost in New York " 2.5 out of 5
2 " Bad Lieutenant " 3 out of 5
1:32-1:40 I couldn’t agree more. I saw this last night and thought it was Ghostbusters 2 all over again. A sequel to a great film that, while it still had some good moments, was not as good the original.
It looks like these 2 don't even like each other, and are constantly trying to get the other one to shut up
are you new to siskel and ebert? its a love hate relationship. they love each other dearly but hate the others opinion ...
I never saw Home Alone 2. It was so obvious they were just recycling the plot of the original.
I haven't seen any of these movies
Quick, someone alert the media.
Bad Lieutenant is a very strong movie.
@@drumtum That's what I've heard.
Bad lieutenant, My new gun, The efficiency expert are great movies.
@@Jbaxter85 Thanks 😊!
3:33-3:37 Are you kidding me? You call that performance positively charming? In some scenes, he was clearly phoning it in. Although to be fair, becoming a massive star at such a young age can do that to a person, but still.
Culkin was better here than The Good Son. Boy did he wreck that movie and I was rooting to have him offed in that movie!
Home Alone 2 really stinks. A carbon copy sequel designed to capitalize on McCauley Culkins' popularity without the heart and charm of the original.
HA2 is basically the same film with a new gimmick. Neither film is a work of art.
