Hello, Patina Girl & Queen of Gorgeous Textures 😍👑! Thank you so much for the pan pastel sealing hack you've demonstrated ... so super helpful! And the textures you've created today are really outstanding! I've enjoyed the close-up camera work tremendously 🤩🤩! Aloha from Berlin ... slowly catching up ❤🧡💛💚💜
Your work processes are so amazing. Things I could never imagine. You encourage me to learn so much more and want to paint…. If I didn't have Covid. Thank you Jackie. ❤️
Oh no, Glenda - I'm sorry you have the bug! I may be biased, but the best way to get through it is watching art videos on RUclips and sipping on my magical "cold cure" - a lemon/lime seltzer mixed with cranberry juice - it make me feel better every time!
I Love your new format….. don’t know what sponsored your decision to communicate this way…. It I enjoy seeing the development of your picture…. You give me a push in doing my stuff your way but with my spin for my sheets. Please keep going! Ty For you time and tallent😊!
Hi Terri, thank you very much! I'm not sure which format you are referring to, but if it is the series format, I do it a couple of times a year so that I can share the entire process of creating a piece(s). I'm glad you are willing to try new things and still staying true to how you create. 🥰
What an inspiring video! You know, when I started my mixed media journey, I was experimenting with different kinds of textures in my art work. I have the patina and rusting products that I never used. After watching your video today, I am going to have to revisit texture in my work. I can’t wait to see where you go with this next week. Thank you so much for sharing! 😊
Thank you very much, Cindy! I can't wait to see where this goes next week, too 😂 I go through stages with physical texture in my work - it's always so exciting when it comes back to me. Enjoy revisiting it! 🥰
Diane - I went back and looked and you're right - I can totally see that! When I was in college I had the experience of studying abroad for a semester. My roommate and I traveled every weekend and Santorini was a fave! Thank you for bringing up that memory. 🥰
Oh wow Jackie! This was incredible interesting to watch, how it came to life. And it all came together when you showed the Oyster (ooeeeh to eat oysters with Ryan Gosling……Oh sorry, I’m getting distracted)😃🍀💖
I love that you have a cookbook journal, Heather! Whenever I use mine if feels like the perfect marriage between my passions - creating and cooking. That sounds like a great name for a show "Creating and Cooking" - are you listening, Netflix?! 😂🥰
16:14 I do this too! I usually have a canvas where I paint on or goop on... all my leftovers and surprisingly this canvan turns out to be really cool! The canvasses I use are often found in second hand shops.
Jackie! That indirect method of sealing the pastel powder is amazing! I guess can be used also for graphite powder? This whole series is so inspiring for technique, layering, concept. Very affecting! 😊Still watching without multi-tasking. This is really helping me focus in other ways throughout the week (isn't that crazy?!) Thanks 🤩
Hi Mary - yes, the indirect method will work for many materials, but if you're unsure, try it out on a scrap piece first - better safe than sorry 😄 I'm going to try to watching something without multitasking. I can see where it would impact other things, too. 🥰
@@PaintedPaperStudio - Good advice (and I love using scraps to make surprise collage paper!)! The not multitasking experiment is fascinating. Yesterday, I did find myself a couple times reaching for something but stopped myself. So, I think I've dug deeper down in my behavior modification into my subconscious! 😆
Jackie -- You are a creative genius! I love how you build up and push back, then do it again. This is absolutely gorgeous. I can't wait to see where it goes. ♥
Thank you very much, Cindy. Creating frequently feels like dancing to me, the push, the pull - two step forward and one step back. I'm so happy you enjoyed this. 🥰
Absolutely breathtaking, Jackie!!!!!!! I love the patina and I remembered just now that I bought that set of paint/patina activator after I watched you use it months ago! So, can't wait to go try it out for myself! Also, I love love that Southern Blue Ocean application!! Love it ALL!! LOVE YOU!!! xoxoxo Deanna
Deanna, I think that copper/green patina and Southern Ocean Blue might be a perfect combination for a project - we both might have to experiment with it 😜 🥰
You know, Jackie?! This is the first time I don´t really have words to comment. I simply loved to watch, how deep you dive into your project. And the composition of your double page reflects that in such an elaborate way, that I can only admire. Looking forward to the steps to come, my dear xo Britta
Thank you Jackie for another wonderful and inspiring video. Love how the textures are building with each layer and looking forward to next weeks instalment. Do you get any fumes from using the patina solution or the alcohol spray? Appreciate not all your beautiful creations are meant for this platform however I have to ask will we see the giant 6ft project in the making or maybe when it is done? Your oyster painting is beautiful, 😍. I’m going back to my art journal and will no longer be shy about building the layers. Have a fabulous week 🙏🏻😊🙏🏻
Hi Andrea! Thank you - I'm glad you're enjoying this process. The patina solution does not put off any fumes that I can detect. Having said that, I don't stay in the room while patina in drying (because that would be like watching paint dry 😂). The alcohol spray does put off fumes and they dissipate almost immediately. For safety's sake I should probably wear a mask, but I rarely do. As for filming the big painting, I don't know yet. I want to, but I still haven't figured out where I'm going to paint this (meaning the space), and if the space is even going to be conducive to filming. Regardless, I will more than likely share the finished piece here. Thank you for always having such nice things to say! 🥰
@@PaintedPaperStudio Thank you for taking the time to answer Jackie and for all your wonderful teaching. 🙏🏻 I have everything crossed for you to find a suitable space for filming the biggie. Very excited at the prospect and if not, looking forward to seeing the finished piece at some stage 🤞🤞🤞😘🙏🏻
Jackie, dear! How are your pages not bubbling up with all that wet media? My first-ever book spread is so very bubbly, it's taking on a life of its own. 😂
Great question Katja! You may recall that I did not gesso or prime the pages, but I did paint full coverage with an acrylic base. between that and the thick, glossy pages of this cookbook, it's enough to stand up to my water works. Having said that, I don't let puddles sit for long. I either sop them up a bit with paper towel, or blow dry. 🥰
@@PaintedPaperStudio Aha! I went straight in with the torn papers and acrylic medium on one spread (bubbles, bubbles, bubbles!) and gessoed one page yesterday ... I can kind of sort of see the difference! Thank you, dear! 🥰
Hey Jackie, I'm quite enjoying this series of work so far. I have an unrelated question...I'm trying to find who it was that said they could mix green/gold and I think it might have been you 🤔 If it was, can you please tell me 😢❤ or let me know where to find it Thank you 😊
Hi Susan! I could have been me because I do mix green and gold, but can you give me a little more context? Did I mix the two colors and use it? Or do you remember the two colors being mixed and being surprised by the results? It might help me narrow down which video it was in (if it was me). 🥰
@PaintedPaperStudio You didn't actually mix it. You were using it and bemoaning the fact that it was being discontinued but said not to worry because you knew how to mix it yourself. I believe you mentioned putting it in a video but I don't think you had yet to do so 🤔...or, I could be wrong and you might have and I simply don't remember 😉 Anyway, if you're willing to share it would be great 😜 Thanks
@@susanmarcoux7005 Got it - it was actually Golden's Quinacridone Nickle Azo Gold, and the video on how to make it yourself is here ruclips.net/video/uoLR2hXi9Kc/видео.html - I'm so glad we figured this out. 🥰

At 23:29, it looks like an old abstract painting of Greek island buildings on a cliffside, like Santorini maybe - very cool!

The metal addition gives a depth no other product could. Love the compound. I adore so many of Goldens products, pumice being one of my favourites 😊
Both the metals and the compounds can make such such surprising additions to art. 🥰

Oh Jackie, how cool are you. Loved this video. I always learn something from that creative mind of yours. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, Pat! 🥰
Looks like such fun! Sometimes I use a clear gesso between layers because it has a nice tooth.
Kathy - that is such a great tip! I always seem to forget about clear gesso - I have one lonely bottle of it, completely neglected 😂🥰
great techniques for texture. Loved watching.
Thank you, Geri! 🥰
