If you don't have Treeline Academy --- you are missing the boat! Mark's course and all that he provides for Elk hunting, saved my hunt last year. Follow what he teaches you; it works, period! Love it fellows!!!
Great podcast can’t wait for the next episode all the information you provide is so much appreciated mark does a great job putting it all together thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences
Great podcast! I geek out on thus stuff. Totally agree that not one application is good for everything! I like having 3 screens...one for google, one for onX Hunt and one for Gaia. OnX is great for planning and Gaia is great when no data connectivity. OnX is getting there. I am old school, so I also look at paper topo maps of the area from different years, and I use Trails Offroad as well as Forest service info for road closure information. Escouting has saved my wife and I so much time!
@TreelineAcademy I'm also 54 years old, so I grew up when the only thing we had were topo maps, Ranger district information and word of mouth. Shit, satellite imagery was only something that the government had...lol!
@@TreelineAcademy I bought the Idaho package last night and have spent a good chunk of time checking out the spots that I've been considering hunting, and have it pretty well narrowed down already. I'm new to elk hunting and archery hunting as well, so this has been the best bit of information to help me along my way that I've received so far. I can tell you guys have spent a good amount of time and effort putting it all together. Thanks!
First buck I ever got was in eastern Oregon on a burn, nobody was hunting that area of the unit the fire went through and there were animals all over. Now as a chair bound they work decently for me to sit and watch with at least a chance to see something. Amazing info but hopefully just not in my spots 😅
@gritty were you in Redmond Oregon last week by chance? I saw a guy in a blue pickup I thought was you maybe behind me at a stop sign 😂. He had an inflatable kayak in the back but it wasn’t the brand you guys use on the trail.
Great info. I am learning alot! I have been scouting a burn area for several months now. I know there is good water and feed. What type of spots should i look for when it comes to a mid day bedding area. I know they normally use benches and north facing slopes, but these areas no longer have much if any good consistant shade, like they had with the dark timber before. Will they still bed and rest in these areas during the day?
I love the high moisture green ribbon areas and I focus hard on the edges. Especially edges that are close to the other 12 elk finding features in my course.
On your next podcast with wilde arrow archery could you cover the easy v bowsight? I've been seeing several people using them out in the elk woods the last several years and I don't quite understand the concept and mechanics behind it. It could be an interesting tool but also a problem with wounded game, curious for your input
I think there are two mark livesays! I finally caved and bought the google earth toolkit. There’s is mark on podcasts, and robot mark (scripted videos)! JK mark! Thanks guys!
Awesome topic and appreciate all of the hard work Livesay has put into his escouting courses. Will stay tuned for the WA package. Livesay consult giveaway on Locals?

Gunna be a good one. ;)
@gritty @treelineacademy what Mobil devices are you guys using in the field? What gps devices are you using and why?
We use GOHUNT maps paired with Gaia maps and it is a great combo in the field. We use the garmin inreach mini for communication.
I think there are two mark livesays! I finally caved and bought the google earth toolkit. There’s is mark on podcasts, and robot mark (scripted videos)! JK mark! Thanks guys!
