I go with Todd. Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. A peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked. If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers, where’s the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked. 😅

Last year in your comment section, I mourned the fact that I wasn't sure if I would get to have a garden. I was hugely pregnant and it was already March/April and I hadn't planted anything. You replied to my comment and reminded me that there is a season for everything and it's OK if that season meant I had to skip a garden. I took what you said to heart and I'm glad I did. My baby ended up severely ill and we almost lost her. My time was spent between Children's Hospital and my home and each time I would sit out and marvel at how wild my garden was. I ended up loving it and realized that you were right. God gave me a season of a chaotic garden to teach me how to embrace what's important. Maybe that's what's he's trying to tell you this year. It's OK that your garden is wild, He is teaching you to embrace it in all its beauty.
I hope everything is OK, and thank you for letting us into your life even during the hard times.

You don't always have to be overly cheerful for us viewers. We understand how life is and I couldn't imagine doing what you do when I was working full time. Being retired now, I find I have time for the things I love and want to do. But even then there are weeks when I don't have time, and I get overwhelmed and tired. We understand and always wish the best for you guys.

Thank you for your vulnerability and honesty. In my option its hard for most people to recognize what's going on with them much less talk about it. Yalls channel is one of my favorite to watch. I'm learning so much. We moved halfway across country to help my 83yr old dad with his farm. Yes, he still goes to the barn every morning. Bless his heart, his mind isn't all there anymore. The whole homesteading thing is all new for me. Your channel helps a great deal to fill in the missing pieces. The last thing I'd like to say is it is SO apparent how much Todd adores you. It melts my heart watching the two of you.

Rachel, I know that I for one, do not watch your channel so that I can always be made happy, but that I can even minimally, in a very fast-moving world, connect in a real way. And realness involves the whole spectrum of emotions and feelings. What I realize I'm watching is your life and Todd's life, and real life is sometimes just...life. I've heard other RUclipsrs express this emotion or fear, and it makes me wonder about the pressure placed on our modern youtuber/homesteaders. I for one watch you for myriad reasons, company in an empty house, to feel a friendly presence, and a kind voice. I always feel that when I listen to you or Todd. Thank you! I hope you can find renewal for your soul.💗💝💖

Rachel, thank you for your insight to your 'normal' life; we all have issues to deal with and many of us bottle them up and talking about it does help.
I measured 40'x40' in my backyard to show me the size of your veggie patch. For what you produce astounds me but also makes me smile what you and Todd are doing.
Keep it up and STAY NORMAL!!
Love your vids and look forward to each of them.

Your comment Rachel about looking/feeling tired was surprising to me. I told my spouse recently how in good shape and full of energy you seem to be and have a full time job on top of homesteading. It made me doubt about my own capacity to become more self-sufficient. I enjoy your channel so much because you are authentic. Of all the homesteading channel I follow you're my favorite. I even bought a 18 quarts electric roaster because I saw you using one in your videos. I didn't know such a thing existed! It's not popular here in Quebec, Canada💖💖

Hey Rachel! I have watched a lot of your RUclips videos but never have the time to comment. I wanted to take the time to tell you that I appreciate your honesty and "realness." It's so easy to get caught up in all the happy Instagram stories and photos which gives us a false representation of life. It also gives us a false sense of happiness which is impossible to fill. This is why I love following people like you that speak there mind and not scared to show mistakes or unhappiness. People can relate more to these situations and learn from them too. Your channel has given me the skills and confidence of canning my own food. I just wanted to let you know that you are appreciated and I cannot thank you enough for the inspiration and education you have given me by warching your channel. As a woman in her middle season of life sometimes showing up is all I got. Endurance and strength both mentally and physically at times elude me. The perseverance of younger years is not always present. Working full time with retirement glistening golden 10 yrs from now proves to be a delicious destination, where formally it was so far away making it out of grasp, makes my personal, joyful life a stronger pull. I feel myself tearing me at the seams looking back less, focusing forward to the later years of my earthly life desiring to fill its days with all of which left undone, ticked away, buried under responsibility. Your channel has greatly inspired my husband and I to grasp the dream, nourish the seed of homesteading which had been planted. I am slow cooking tomatoes from our harden as I write this to can for our long WI winter ahead. We’ve put up many days of harvest with more on the ear horizon, feeling pride on our self reliance. Thank you and Todd for the encouragement. You are real and thank you for sharing your struggles. It’s ok to not be ok. Seasons change, as we know better we do better. I pray for a regenerative winter solstice for your troubles to clear from the corners of your mind and body making way for renewal come spring.

With what I learned this year, I will be able to do so much better next year. Thank you so much for sharing your learning and experience.

You’re not alone! My husband and I both work full time and keep up gardens just like you and Todd. We are in Ohio, same age, and have found inspiration through you and Todd. You taught me how to pressure can which changed everything for our family. Please know no matter what you are going through,(life) we are here for you and Todd. You’ve been my biggest teacher and I’ll forever be grateful. Side note….just this week I cried watching Root and Refugee pick her peppers. The stress of working full time, family, gardening and preserving is real. We love you both. God bless!

After you mentioned loofah this spring I put some seeds to start around April. I planted them out in the garden mid-may and they are huge! Almost two feet long and while my corn, zucchini and squash did nothing this year that loofah grew like crazy, thanks for the inspiration. I wish yours looks like mine.

I appreciate all that y’all show in your videos- the good, bad and sad. I truly hope all is well. So sorry for the winds- we have them more than I’d like. You have inspired me to grow food- I’m working on a plan for spring… need infrastructure in the worst way. Thanks!

Thank you for being real and being honest. For a girl who is trying to figure out how to add more and more gardening and preserving to my daily life, I have felt it is so overwhelming to juggle a full time job, be a single parent (older kids but always a parent) and then add gardening and preserving into the mix.
Your honesty and being real helps me see that my juggle is normal. That I am a success in whatever I am able to get done. So thank you for being authentic.

Whatever is going on you have a beautiful relationship. I loved the last bit of the video. I can only dream of being loved like you are Rachel, Todd just looks at you like you are the best thing in his world. I feel like everyone has a little bit of something happening these days. We all seem a little more tired and a little more stressed. Hoping things lighten up for you and you are able to rest your body and your mind. Winter will be here soon enough and our Michigan weather will have us all dreaming of the season we are in right now. Sending you love and prayers from a fellow Michigander.

I am prone to compare myself to others who seem to really have it all together all the time--makes me wonder what is wrong with me that I can't manage as well as others. Thank you for being real about your life struggles. Life isn't all about the garden. I am so very thankful for the garden and the peace I find there and for the people like you who provide guidance as well as diversion from the cares of the world. Take care. Much love and appreciation!

I love it when you use your cream sweater to hold and carry tomatoes. Some people would freak out but not me. Lol most of my shirts become my carryall’s lol. I bought a gardening shirt but forget to take it with me. Thank you for being real, you make me feel better when I see you struggling with real life like we all struggle at times. Bless you for being You!

Go with real instead of fake! Viewers can relate, appreciate and grow from real but not from fake. Life is very hectic for everyone during this time of our existence and truth and if truth and real are not appreciated by a viewer, they can tune into the news. Love your facial expressions and yes, you do wear your feelings on your face which is a sign of honesty❤️

Putting up that amount of produced fruit and veggies in the heat of summer is a ton of work ,on top of working full time this has made me think of growing less . I don't have a big house or animals so I can imagine you are tired . Thank you for sharing Always even through the thick of it all . Love your channel ❤

I've been watching your channel for a couple years, and I did notice that you haven't been yourself this year. Life is hard, really hard sometimes. What I appreciate the most is that you and Todd show real life. I love all the things you share, and I've learned a lot from your channel. It feels like visiting with friends every time I watch a video. Thank you for sharing all that you do. Prayers for you both. It is ok not to be ok.
