Jane made such a positive impact in the arts on all different levels and especially in fashion! Being just two years younger than her, I followed her career from the beginning and when I was a NYC fashion illustrator! The summer of 69 I remember when I was in Europe what a huge hit, "J'taime, moi non plus" was along with Tina Turner's hit song, "Proud Mary'! Carnaby Street in London was a very colorful place to be back then! I ended up with three daughters myself, but lost my middle one to Covid in 2020. So I could relate to her in some ways! Rest in peace, she is a most beautiful angel on the Other Side, our spiritual home now!💔♥
What impact did she ACTUALLY HAVE?? I am not trying to be ugly, but I feel like we are giving praise to someone that just.....showed up and was pretty and able to be molded through her older partners. I don't mean to offend anyone, but I just don't get it.

@melissabrecht6311 She was a model and actress during the 60s, and was a fashion icon, a Hermès bag is named after her, the Birkin. She had a hit song. She was part of the Swinging Sixties in London that had Twiggy, Jean Shrimpton, Jane Asher, and Patti Boyd. You have to remember back then, there was no social media. She definitely was not a Kardashian, she worked just as hard. Swinging London was a part of the youth culture that was a counterpart to LA's Laurel Canyon and San Francisco.

When she came to popularity, women were still spraying, teasing, pinning, tottering on high heels. She made straight hair and bangs sexy and not just for preteens. I guess you had to be there.

JANE BIRKIN "the dream in the drawer" and in the THOUGHTS of all the boys of that time: her very sweet and sensual voice given to us when in 1969 she imprinted on vinyl the few phrases of the song JE T'AIME ... she made the world fall in love whole and not just the male one. She had CHARM and possessed a NIGHTMARE BEAUTY!!! She was also a successful woman in the arts for a good decade. I sincerely hope to be able to meet her BEAUTIFUL and HAPPY again in her new home and sing with her and endlessly a hymn that will vehemently make all the souls of heaven gasp: “JE T’AIME”…!!! 💔❤

Un être humain est un tout. Je pense que cette femme est une mauvaise mère : elle a laissé sa petite fille chanter "Lemon incest " avec son père allongé, à moitié nu dans un lit. Puis Charlotte a osé des scènes dégoûtantes dans un film de Lars von Trier et même pour "L'Effrontée " une scène scabreuse n'a pas été diffusée.
Kate s'est suicidée.
Elle-même était seule pour mourir.
On ne laisse pas seule une femme de cet âge aussi visiblement atteinte. Pas une, pas un dans sa famille pour une présence, ou même un appel au téléphone, un message pour prendre des nouvelles ! C'est l'aide- soignante qui l'a découverte... le lendemain.

@suzannelawson9215 Charlotte Gainsbourg had her own career as an actor and artist. Lou Doillon is a singer-songwriter and guitarist. Both daughters are known internationally, in an 'indie' sort of fashion. /After Serge's death, Jane and her three daughters participated in a family interview on French tv. There was great interest in his life and music amongst the French. It was quite moving to watch if you are able to find that.

She had leucemia 20 years ago, she survived but she stated to have a bad health, Leucemia came back in 2013, as she lost her mother, she said "I probably have only 10 years to live now", and it was true. She lost her daughter Kate. She got a stroke in 2021, and her health has been awfully bad since. She wanted to make a singing tour in France, as she was really hoping to recover. She could walk again, so she asked her nurse to not sleep in her house, she wanted to be independant again. But the first night with no nurse at home, she was found dead the day after by her nurse.
