I think it's great that the staff sit back and study and observe behavior and interactions between cats who obviously get along regardless of any given situation. It's a good way to debunk all the troublesome myths that people tend to cling to and become stressed about. 😊
Agree. When you have watched cats for as long as Shelly and Co. have, they can spot troublesome behavior and intervene quickly, but otherwise let things happen.
@@hectorsmommy1717 Totally agree with you on your comment. Shelly and Company are so amazing with the ferals and know just when to intervene too when it is needed. The one who really closely monitors the kitties is mama herself. You can see the concern. Which is normal for all mama kitties to have. But you can tell she doesn't feel her kitties are in real danger. If she did, her claws would be ready. I think this is an amazing relationship between these two cats. I don't know if I could say I have a favorite of all the kittens/cats at TK throughout the years even when there have been couples but Eden and Cornfield are at the very top of the list. I loved watching them everyday and all the antics Cornfield would get into even though Eden did keep him in line!!😂😂 I am so happy they were adopted together in an forever inside home. It's the perfect story for what you do everyday.
Remember, folks, if Shelly or any of her helpers feel like Corny is going to hurt the kittens, they'll swoop in, scoop him up, and put him in a different room. You saw the quick response to him taking the kitten out of the COS. Remember also that he has been neutered, and therefore has lost the source of some if not all of any aggressive behavior he might have had. Eden seems ok with him helping, but if she shows signs of distress due to Corny's behavior, they'll relocate him. 😊 He's an adorable boy who seems to love Eden. Whether he was/is a mate, a sibling, or just a loyal best friend, they overall seem good together and he doesn't seem to have a will to purposefully hurt Eden or her babies. 💜💙
This was so interesting! He seems to be pretty experienced in helping Eden with her babies. So nice that in this situation there are volunteers near to step in when he's a little too helpful. Looking forward to watching his interaction with them as they get bigger and are more fun to play with.
I think TK should do an animal behavior study. Do male cats instinctively know this should be done or did he see her do it? There is so much to learn from these two and other precious kittehs/moms/doulas/assistants behaviors. What a fun job that would be. She also moves out of the way to show him the kittehs and blocks him when needed. But she doesn’t hiss or get upset. I absolutely love these 2 and they love each other so much.
Oh good grief people, relax. Cornfields is just being a friend to Eden and just wants to interact with the new living "things" wiggling around in there with them. They are monitored closely. Its just inquisitive interaction. ❤

Corny just wants to protect them. Shelly mentioned how many of the Bramble males are protective of the kittens, hence his field trips at night. Don't worry Corny, Eden and the kits are under the best protection at TKHQ!
Considering the low survival rate of feral kittens due to illness like ringworm, or lice/mites or whatever else hits them due to their low immune system, it sounds like males at Bramble have figured out they need to help the little ones out if they can. This nanny-type behaviour of Cornfield as a feral intact male is fascinating though.
Mmmm ..... ! Friday evening Cornfields think it is time to take Snowberry on a boy's night out! Aaaw buddy you will have to wait a few more weeks! Corndog you are adorable! 😉
Lol, Cornfields.. you silly boy! Watching this live, I could not believe what I was seeing 😂! “Eden, I’m just gonna borrow this one for a little bit!” 😂 Of my time watching TK, Cornfields has to be one of the funniest cats I’ve seen on here. He’s up there with Chapel and Cupcake. Cupcake tried to steal kittens from the CoS too, and Chapel just tried to steal the fuudz!
Eden is such a sweet mama. She was definitely responding whenever the babies were in distress. The only reason he got away with that yoink was because Snowberry was so quiet.
Looked to me like he thought mama could use a break so he decided to babysit for a while. I’m sure if staff weren’t quite as on the ball and the kitten got upset, mama would be straight out there to bring it back to the nest. Such a cute pair and I hope they can find a home together when the time comes. This might be an issue out there in the wild, but they are in a nice warm place with many eyes watching. It’s fascinating.
Aww, he started off very gentle, but got a little too fixated on cleaning the babies! I have an older orange gentleman who desperately wants to clean our younger cat, but he gets too into it and licks aggressively and nips. She lets him know when it's too much, but some days it's like he is obsessed, just like this. Then he gets a time out.
Reminded me of the time Felicity started hiding her kittens. Shelly came in one day while F. was preparing to jump over the wall with a kitten in her mouth. F dropped it immediately, and as Shelly was telling her to leave kittens in the next, I swear, F. looked at her like "Kitten? What kitten? I wasn't moving anyone."
Unusual behavior for a male cat! What a dolly he is! I'd watch that he doesn't "wash" their little behind until they get sore though! Ouch! I've had more than one kitten that's had to be separated from the litter once in a while, for something similar! 😂
I had one litter with 4 of 5 being buttsuckers. Each one had to have his/her own enclosure. most grew out of it by the time they were weaned but one kept doing it so he had to stay separate and even needed to be adopted into a home with adult cats who wouldn't put up with it. They had plenty of supervised playtime together and he was in a crate that was right next to the kitten enclosure so they could still interact, just with bars between them.
