Often people gush over newborn kittens, but I'm always thinking about the mom cats. I have a soft spot for them, and I'm happy and relieved to see you guys take such great care for them.
I feel as though I have have just witnessed a very personal and blessed event. I am so grateful for those who take on the responsibility of rescuing and helping stray animals. They are truly angels walking on earth. ❤
So very touching to hear Shelly talking quietly to the mommy cat as she helps the kittens latch on . Beautiful person to help this precious mommy and her kittens❤
Shelly and Tiny Kittens are phenomenal. I have rescued feral cats on three occasions, and they were such incredible animals who just needed to learn to trust. Shelly is a master.
scotia is such a sweetheart, i think once the babies are grown up, she'll tear up that feral card in no time, and hopefully go to a loving forever home! ❤
Hand snax are special snax. Miss Shelly has such a way with cats and kittens. I also did not know cats could have inverted nipples. Extra good that Mama Scotia was ok with milkbar help.
I love how ginger kitten was so active with her front legs once able to latch with Shells help. So precious!!! God bless Scotia, her babies, She'll and all over at Kittens HQ, as well as Orinda and her babes and all fur residents there. You are all such a blessing!
This was such a beautiful thing to watch.. truly endearing was all of the horrible stories of abandoned in torture, kittens throwing away whatever to see this is beautiful and to know that all of them we’re going to find wonderful forever homes even the mama cat!! God bless you.
I was in tears. This was such a beautiful moment, my heart. Shelly is the most incredible , intuitive human. ❤ Scotia was also incredible poor girl was so tired, such a tough labour. ❤
That was truly a sweet moment. I'm so thankful Scotia & Shelly were able to build a little bit of a relationship beforehand, bc it really came in handy. Poor Scotia was so exhausted. Thankfully that was her Last litter. Congrats mama Scotia!
I am hoping that Scotia will decide to give up her feral card, such a sweet girl, she does not realize that after this exhausting birth, it is the last time she has to go through this.
Exactly what I'm hoping for too. She is a beautiful cat and although every so often she spat and lashed out at Shelly, it seems to me Scotia wants to trust and will tame down with time. Scotia was protecting her little family, bless her. I fostered (and subsequently adopted) a feral cat many years ago. She turned into the most loving, gentle cat I ever had. I managed to catch a stray/semi-feral entire Tom 8 months ago. We took over feeding him when our neighbour who had been feeding him moved away. The cat turned up one night with a sore leg and we finally managed to catch him. We had him treated for parasites, neutered, microchipped and his leg fixed, got it x-rayed, thankfully no breaks and it turned out it was an abscess. He was under anaesthetic so it was easier for our vet to give him a good examination. He's turned into a lovely cat and much loved member of our family although still a bit wary, especially when we have visitors - he hides. He's decided my adult son is his human but sleeps on the pillow next to me every night. Every day he comes a little more out of his shell. I'm in the UK and we sat up until 6am our time watching Scotia give birth. Oscar (our ex stray) heard the kittens mewing and went looking for them. One thing's for sure, he won't father any more kittens. He's a young cat too, vet thinks he's 3 years old. I really wish people would get their cats neutered and spayed. It would prevent so much suffering.
i was actually quite surprised with how receptive she was to human touch before she gave birth, even letting shelly rub her belly and chin! i hope her socialisation goes well once the babies are oolder and theres more time to work on it.
You were amazing shelley as always. You have had one of the toughest weeks in tiny kittens history I think (with feral cats giving birth and all it’s problems before, during and after) . All my love 🫂🫂💕🙏🏻
I'm a Sensitive and I find if you do slow eye blinks to the cat while talking your building trust. That's how cats talk and if they sit and look at you they will understand. Your doing great with her.
Scotia is another mum cat that was lucky to be in TKs when giving birth. Both Orinda & she have given birth time and again and they are passed doing this successfully by themselves. Thankfully they will be spayed and never have to do this again. Spay & neuter is the only way to prevent this, the loss and overpopulation of cats across the world.
You are a kind and caring lady to take such care. She knew she was at the right place this time is a crucial time for every female, human animal or bird world.
I hope the little orange/buff kitty that you are helping to latch makes it. I foster cats from a local shelter. I’ve fostered upwards of 45 cats/kittens. I had a pregnant mom give birth to 6 kittens at my home a few years back. She rejected 4 of them. I opened the sac of two of them and put them by mom and helped them latch. None of the 4 rejected made it past 3 weeks of life, despite my best efforts and supplemental feeding with KMR. It was traumatizing for me lose four of them-one died in my arms, two were euthanized and one died in the night and I discovered her dead the next morning. Nature is nature, but it can be so cruel. I have not fostered any pregnant mom cats since then. I have fostered 4 week old and older kittens and adults. It is too emotionally taxing for me to deal with the little kittens who don’t make it.
When I watch so many cats births been "handle" by human's hands I fell the same. Makes me think that the path to hell is crowded by "good" actions. People simply should not melt the kittens smell, the mother cat need it to accepted her own.
It's such a beautiful moment helping your cat give birth. I helped mine twice before getting her spade. Sadly she'sno longer with us, but she did reached a good old age of 19 bless her. Also help my jack russell too who is now 15 & still going strong ❤
Shelly was the angel Scotia needed. She became a super mama once the babies were born. (All cat mamas have that potential.) Now that her babies are on their way to homes of their own perhaps Scotia can rest and find a loving life of her own. I just love kitties.
Cats are at their most vulnerable when they are giving birth so Scotia only did what her instincts told her to do and I'm certain Shelley knew this too.
I've never seen a new born want to stay near their mom's bottom before. Interesting. I just said to myself she better watchout for the cat to strike out if she's not careful and then literally a second later she hisses and then strikes out. I felt that and it made me jump as well because I'm a scaredy cat lol. Hats off to the lady she still continued until they all latched on.
I just witnessed a young, small stray give birth to 5 healthy, vibrant kittens. She is also a spicy girl and just went right into Mommy mode. She was amazing!!❤
After watching this on the live stream I wonder if their behavior was caused by the fact that her milk hadn't come in yet and when they went to her nipples they weren't smelling anything to eat. Instead they were then attracted to the smell of something left on her from the birth process that seemed like a source of nourishment.
The cat is clearly exhausted and still in labor. You obviously missed the earlier videos of this cat murdering this poor woman's arms. Can't get much more feral.
Cats do not eat their kittens because their person touched. That's ridiculous. It's not like cats are defenseless you know. They have sharp claws and teeth and are very fast. If they let their person touch them, help them during delivery they will not retaliate by eating the kittens their person touched.
I think this lady must have been a nurse in Labor + Delivery at a hospital.. After helping the 2 with issues… she did waaay too much at times .. very distressing to the mama. She didn’t need to help them “ latch“… inverted nipples - goodness ! cats don’t have the same human problems .. It’s ok to just let them BE & let them go at natures pace.
To me it looked like Mom cat was quite okay with this lady’s assistance. Shelley doesn’t usually intervene unless there are problems. This mother cat had given birth to 5 kittens, 2 stillborn underdeveloped and was completely exhausted. She gave birth to two more after this.
How many feral cats have you helped? How often have you stayed up 24/7 to make sure these births go as smoothly as possible? Do you go out and trap and rescue these cats whom often are in desperate shape, and need emergency care. Every one of these cats get excellent medical care from loving humans. They are all spayed and neutered before being returned to their colonies, unless they are able to be adopted (many aren’t and are happier in the wild). Every one of the kittens are raised and cared for, no matter what, by the living crew at Tiny kittens. Because Shelly and tgis group have helped/saved hundreds. She does what needs to be done, then leaves them be. So please, go spread your negativity on another site.
inverted nipples happens to cats too, because of their anatomy. it isnt anthropomorphising to state an obvious fact. i think you're complaining for the sake of complaining, shelly has been doing this work for years now, more than you've likely done i'm sure. she knows how best to help these cats.

Great job helping. Mom is still a bit hostile.
I'd be the same if I was a cat and someone kept squeezing my teats. No purple nurples for this cat lol.
Only if it was that easy for humans
It's disturbing her pushing baby out. Feed her in intervals❤
I think the human should wear gloves so they don't put human scent on the kitren
I think that human scent is more an issue with some bird species perhaps, but not with kittens and puppies.
This isn't a "feral" cat, she's a STRAY. If she was feral, this woman wouldn't be able to get near it.
She is feral. Feral cats are very misunderstood, but absolutely can be handled and helped, with the right approach. :)
