Thank you, sir. :) The sabers are built by my own hand (powered by some PlecterLabs electronic boards), and the costumes are heavily modified, tweaked, re-worked, re-sewed, and so on by us.
The Kylo Ren mask is fully functional for (loud) vocals, and has a small, nearly noiseless fan in order to keep the lenses (+ mesh) from fogging up or becoming wet saturated.

Thanks! Curious as to why you thought you'd not like it? Was it just a general malaise over live fight work, or... a dislike of Kylo/Rey/SW7... or... perhaps something else?
Novastar (SaberCombat) when I have seen videos like this, they do not turn out as good. So because of past videos that's why I thought I was not going to enjoy it. I'm glad that I stayed and watched it
I think I know what you mean. The SW fan world is saturated with... let's face it... a LOT of "fight scenes" where all people do is suit up... run on stage... scowl... slap sabers together... and expect it to stand on its own.
If THAT is what you mean... well... you should have a look at our other live staged combat re-creations, such as the ANH (EP IV) one and ESB (EP V). :)
Trust me... they're... different from the rest.

Much obliged for the compliment. Just to add a minor amount of clarity on what was seen here, the fight choreography I engineered for this live performance was closely based on the actions which Driver & Ridley performed during the film shoot. That noted, obviously, performing live is SIGNIFICANTLY different from having a million dollar budget, camera angles, costumers, lighting designers, editors, EFX folks, lots of space to move, breaks between takes, second chances, etc. 😁 In all honesty, the biggest miracle about this particular performance was the two real-time *flash* effects I was able to employ. 🙂 Super tricky stuff; hard to explain. Also, the performer portraying "Rey" had no previous martial nor fencing experience; I trained her in my own staged combat system (NCSCS), and IIRC, I only had something like 3-6(?) months to train her, record the vocals, rehearse with her, etc. ⚔️ Finally, I can't even begin to explain how restrictive my costume was. Especially the sleeves! 😂

Thank you! I build all of them myself, and have been for about 10 years now. :)
I also do all the custom sound work, including recording the vocals, mixing, and so forth.

Am I the only one who thinks that Rey’s moan is weird (too weird)
Maybe... but, after the entirety of the work we put into this insane production (all out of our own pockets)... including doing our own costuming work... vocal recording... live spark/flash effects... saber sounds... choreography... building the sabers ourselves... rehearsals... the staging... getting the venues and coordinating with events...
...it's definitely the last thing I thought we'd hear about! :)

I am not part of any "faction"... :) I'm just Novastar.
Website is Sabercombat.com. Been around since 2005/2006, with my first all live show being called "Balance of Power (Ep I)", later followed up by BOP Ep2. Also heavily influenced the birth and creation of "custom saber sound fonts", which are now a huge thing in the saber world (~8 years later).
In 2013/2014... created the first ever totally live Empire Strikes Back fight & scene... then in 2015, the ANH saber fight between OWK v DV... some other live projects over the years, and most recently, this one.

When I did the live ESB show (and all the other shows, come to think of it)... I/we had to set it all up on several different stages, environments, and dimensions. Usually with no rehearsal ON said stages or areas.
Difficult, but... expected for what we do, which is... sort of unique as compared to other folks out there.
Fortunately, we decided against using set pieces for the KR v R fight. Mainly because: budget, but also... because: not needed to carry the dramatic structure/message. :)

In this case, it was an extensive, difficult performance to put together.
Sounds... vocals... choreography... costuming... sabers... logistics and plenty more. 😊
