    Your video is one of the best even to this day. It gave me enough courage to do the complete swap, I was originally just going to do the back and joy cons but now im going for it

    this is exactly the walkthrough I need, My new switch casing arrives monday, and I'll be replacing the front and backplate, updating the battery, cleaning the fan, and replacing the joycon shells. I'm so excited!

      Glad to help, Just make sure you have all the screen wires unplugged before removing it. I did break my touchscreen attempting to reopen the Switch to clean out some dust on the screen. Good luck :)

      @Notts Gamer I managed to get everything done and only broke 2 things! The SD card reader I accidently broke trying to push its little clicky thing back in, and I broke the ribbon cable to the left joycon rail so it won't recognize any left joycons 😅 both things are easy to fix with replacement parts, which I already ordered. The screen and everything else works perfectly, however! Thank you for this dope tutorial!

      Things will always go wrong whan doing this kind of thing. I thought leaving that in the video would help others avoid the same mistakes I made. Some of mod videos make things look way to easy somtimes. Cheers 🍻

    its funny how your video finds me after i finished doing the same thing to my own switch, same color too. But what's hilarious is you also chose to keep the black buttons from the original joycons instead of using the atomic purple buttons, bumpers, and triggers the kit came with. Although i did swap the top buttons (SR & SL) on the joycons with the atomic purple ones xD

    • @NottsGamer

      I was gooing to use the buttons from the kit but I just prefer the look and feel of the black ones.

    While eXtremeRate's tutorial is decent, this video helped me build up the courage to do it on mine!
    It only took a few hours, and I've got a totally atomic purple Switch without a single missed screw or damaged component.

    How did you remove the screws on the side rails? I’m having a rough time trying to remove them. What did you do?

    • @NottsGamer
      @NottsGamer  Год назад

      I just kept forcing the screw, probably not the best idea. But they came out eventually.

    Any tips on how to take out those rounded off screws? I've got a stubborn one on my right rail that won't come out.

    • @NottsGamer
      @NottsGamer  Год назад

      I just kept at it using a few different sized bits and eventually they came out, but it did take me quite a while to do. Luckily the screws are quite a soft metal so they do eventually budge. Their may be a better way but yeah I just bruit forced the out.

    Well I bought this front plate and I'm watching videos on installation now, I think this looks a little to intense for me! Especially pulling the screen out like that.

    • @NottsGamer
      @NottsGamer  2 месяца назад

      Yeah, you do have to be very careful taking the screen out. It's really easy to damage the touch screen as I found out.

    How did you get the stripped screws from the side rail out? Trying to use a dremel to grind the head down but not sure if that is a good idea cause it could make the threads stay in with no way to remove them

    • @NottsGamer
      @NottsGamer  Год назад

      I must admit when the screws rounded off I thought it was game over. But I just kept trying different size bits in my driver until eventually they shifted. I'm sure there are easier ways but yeah, I just bruit forced them out and it did take quite a while.

    • @NottsGamer
      @NottsGamer  2 года назад

      Yeah it wasn't one of the easiest mods for the switch that's for sure and so much can go wrong. I did break the touch screen not long after this. But thats a much easier fix.

      When had to swap my front plate I thought I somehow damaged by touch screen, but it turned out that the digitizer cable just wasn't seated properly.
      Interestingly, even Nintendo effectively recognized how hard the front is to replace, since if you look at an OLED breakdown, the top is now part of the back plate and the bottom is now its own separate piece. Though that could just be due to the OLED barely having any actual front part that isn't the screen.
