All of these mods, including most importantly the modified valve body, will make shifts and kick-downs MUCH quicker. I considered shimming the accumulators while I was in there but in the end decided against it. Those with real world experience told me that shimmed accumulators really only impact the "finish" of a shift and can make it feel "rubbery." If you get your valve body professionally done, you can also get upgraded accumulator springs during your order if you wish.
LEXUS GS400 shown with A650e transmission. Stage 2 should be applicable to any TOYOTA vehicle equipped with the A650e transmission such as GS300, IS300, etc. Please verify all instructions to your specific vehicle!
    STAGE 1 VIDEO: • TOYOTA / LEXUS STAGE 1...
STAGES 1 & 2 (RECOMMENDED AT THE SAME TIME)
    1. Transmission Cooler -- (video: • External Transmission ... )
    2. Line Pressure Dial set to III (most pressure)
    3. Trans Strainer ("filter") Replacement
    4. Valve Body professionally upgraded to your preferences by a reputable shop, such as IPT (www.importperformancetrans.com/)
SUPPLIES NEEDED (2-4 above; see Trans Cooler vid for supply list)
~6 qts TOYOTA TYPE T-IV ATF
Duralast Strainer Kit, P/N TF634 (includes strainer, 3 gaskets, 1 trans pan gasket)
Transmission drain plug crush washer (motor oil drain plug size will work too)
Modified valve body (to minimize down time, buy a used valve body and have it sent to IPT to be worked up, then install it when you drop the old one. Sell your old one and recoup some cost!)
    Transmission assembly grease
    TOOLS
    Jacks and stands
    Gloves (lots of them!)
    Safety glasses
    Basic hand tools
    Ratchet extension
    Torque wrenches (in-lbs and ft-lbs)
    Drain pan to collect oil
Funnel to fill ATF into dipstick hole

Hey thanks! I actually purchased it from a fellow enthusiast who performed the mods just like the pro shops do. It was very tedious work according to him, requiring massive upfront research and careful modification. Therefore I recommend having the pros do it. IPT is a shop that has been around forever. Also, Level10 is another option. As for the dial to III you do not need the trans cooler. You can do that later. If anything the dial to III slightly reduces temps anyway.
