- Recently, the Motorcycle.com staff had the chance to tour the beautiful Ontario countryside to experience the fall colors and to get a taste of what Northern Ontario has to offer. It’s a stunning place, and we thank our friends at Destination Ontario for making it all possible.
When it came to picking out bikes for our Canadian tour, we wanted something that could tour but was also sporty. A lot of bikes made our list, but we eventually picked the Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ as a worthy representative of the Sport-Touring category. We’re fans of the CP3 engine and the various platforms it comes in, and after putting a thousand miles on a Tracer 9 GT+, we came back with plenty to say about it.
Here are five things you need to know about the Yamaha Tracer 9 GT.

Established in 1994, Motorcycle.com is the premier online resource for motorcycle and scooter enthusiasts. With hundreds of high quality, detailed video reviews on bikes from Harley-Davidson, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki and just about everybody else, it's the best place to go to learn about the latest and greatest two-wheeled creations. There's simply no better resource if you're planning on buying or if you just want to check out some awesome machines.
This is a fine example of a narrated video that's as interesting as a live action one, IMO.
Troy kind of proved my point about adjustable suspension: my suspicion has always been that once you find a setting you like, you never adjust it. So I much rather spend the extra dollars for the electronically adjustable suspension on good after market suspension components and have it set up right. What I did with my '20 MT-09, that bike now rides absolutely beautifully, and having pout on an after market luggage rack, it has actually become a very sporty touring machine as well! (All for a lot less money than a Tracer GT+.)
Maybe it's my age but I'd hate to ride naked (even with only a windshield) for hours without fairings and stopping every 150 miles for fuel.
One of the best features is the adaptive cruise control as it allows you to relax slightly on longer distances and is especially useful for highway stints. If you don’t want to have this safety system on then simply don’t engage it. The other benefit, with all the speed cameras around is license preservation.
One of the worst features of adaptive cruise control is people cutting right in front of you while going 75 on the highway and your bike wanting to immediately hard brake to increase your following distance, nearly throwing you from the bike 😮
@ I’ve been using it in cars for 10 years now and was very sceptical about it for motorbikes as I was when ABS started to come into play when I was riding in the 90’s. As the system can easily and quickly be deactivated then one might question someone’s riding abilities if they can’t cope and adjust the same way as if you had a bike enter your lane (gap) and also reduce distance quickly. As it was never designed for you to fall asleep whilst riding. 🤔
you are a year to late - new 9 GT+ 2025 just announced ;-)
From NW10 London to Islamabad.890cc or 1300cc.please advice
Is an 890CC engine capable for long touring?
I want one…but would never ride something that ugly. I’d be embarrassed to take it to the bar…or anywhere really.
I have this bike. The worst thing is the cruise control won't let you tailgate people. It sucks.
OMG. It’s an inbuilt safety system, exactly the same with radar enabled cruise control in cars. I have a very simple solution for you if you prefer tailgating or slipstreaming is to not activate it. You do understand this? 🤔
😂😂
Reminds me of my old Triumph Sprints ('99, '02, '05). Just lighter, with better electronics.
Imagine how good it would be if it was 1000cc.
Great bike however two big issues: ugly front end and I mean brutally ugly - radar cruise makes the bike way too expensive
I’d take the street glide all day. Much better bike for long rides and it looks and sounds infinitely better.
Lol @ sounds better
Harleys sound like an over heating Briggs
Agreed but a Street Glide costs exactly double the money (at least here in Austria roughly 20k vs. 40k €). So the comparison is a bit unfair.
Not me. I wouldn't want to be getting on and off that big behemoth Harley all day. I'll take the Tracer any day.
