Your pearls of wisdom, whether or not they are totally radio focused, are welcome with me. Thank you for all you do. :D

This is a Zenith A519W 6 tube set from about 1958 according to the Radio Museum website showing the CD (Civil Defense) markings. I can't believe that this one already has a phono input. I hope you feel better, Seth. Thank you for the video.

At 0:47 in, the sticker on the bottom says this is a model B624G. Zenith used same plastic cabinet on several models in
the late 1950s. Love how you fix the alarm clock motor so it's quite and keeps perfect time. Always doing the laundry!

When our five children had left home, we thought the 24/7 sound of our washers/dryers running would end.
My husband joked we would have Washday Monday and Ironing Day Tuesday.
About that...I added the back office for my brother's business onto mine during Covid. Bought out a competitor who couldn't work anymore after being ill with Covid (super anti-vaxer and the horsepaste didn't help for some reason). I ended up back out in the field...my husband was down to one farm-hand for a while.
Yeah, between the farm clothes, the work clothes and (yay! not a complaint!) the constant parade of our adult children and their children through what we very much want them to know is their home, we're washing as much, today, as we did in the 1990s.

My version of covid was late 2020. Just fever and chills, no resperatory stuff. Still was miserable. Took 2 weeks to get better. Glad that Paxlovid worked for you. Great restore too.

Same boat you are in a year ago. Got the dreaded virus at a Christmas volunteer appreciation dinner. Paxlovid and over it in about three days. Good thing you had some sitting around. They're charging $1,500 for it now.
Tomorrow is a repeat of the same Christmas dinner. We'll see.....

The vintage Adcom solid-state amps would play for another 30 seconds after switching off the main power. Perhaps Zenith designed it to drain the power supply caps?

    • @ethelryan257

I'm surprised those smoothing caps can keep up the B+ that long. Beautiful radio and Seth does great work, his soldering is absolutely professional.
(I worked on these sets in my grandfather's shop as a young girl. Like hell they didn't 'j-hook' stuff in at the Chicago factories).

Hey Seth I'd like to buy this radio for my wife. How can I buy it?
Also I've had Covid every year since it started. The Paxlovid and just lots of sleep makes such a difference.

I hope this is the last time you report that! 2025, Covid free for you!
This is the first year since 2019 (yes, you read that right) I haven't had it. Milder every year, but, grrrrrr.
And I'm vaxed and cautious. Paxlovid saves lives. I deeply resent that I have had to stockpile Ivermectin for my horses because of the lies sold to suffering people.

Hmmm, tinfoil-hat Paxlovin... [in Dr Jill's voice] "Mr Radio, you had an independent thought and made an independent choice! I'm so proud of you!" Maybe there's hope for you after all??! 🤣

FYI, there is no “tin foil” aspect to prescribing Paxlovid for Covid. The concern is the interaction with common drugs that treat blood clots and high cholesterol among others. If you’re not in that category, it’s a valid treatment option.

@@bobrustigian4637 I could not believe how well it worked. I took it and within 8 hours I felt pretty normal. The only side effect was that it left a AWFUL metallic taste in my mouth.
