This is an excellent convertible laptop and one of the best for 2017. Its a close call with the Yoga 920, which is also a great offering. I will do a head to head to see which one comes out ahead. Also do you want me to review the Surface Book 2. If i get a lot of demand I will review it.
You do the best reviews. You cover all the points, you know what you are going to talk about - you don't just rant and "ummm" like other reviewers, your microphone and cameras are good, you don't play obnoxious music, or have a crazy obnoxious intro graphic and sounds, and you stay realistic. I really enjoy your reviews, great work, man.
Got mine in Black Friday week. Everything is great and after uninstalling useless software, it runs cooler. Battery life is stunning and sound is surprisingly loud for such a thin device!
Liion B I hear ya. Best buy has the silver 360 with 8g ram and 256gb ssd I wanted the 16gb and 512gb though which at best buy was only available with the 4k screen. I pulled the trigger last night and hoping that battery life won't take a hit
I think i just found my laptop for college Was going to get a macbook pro or air but air screen sucks and macbook pro keyboard is unreliable according to the reviews so Hp spectre x360 it is Im gonna go with the rose gold one probably
I purchased a Yoga 920 (i7, 16, 512) on 12/28. I set it up and had a presentation to deliver. The Yoga worked flawlessly till it was time for a presentation. I tried connecting it to HDMI and type -c, to no avail. There was simply no signal coming from the system. I later found out this is a known problem with the 920. The work around is turning the system off, connecting the projector cable, and then booting. It is the only way to get the 920 to project. I thought for the price that was absurd, so back to Best Buy. Typing now on the HP and I have connected it to 2 projection systems so far, without incident. They are both nice systems, but I cannot have that projecting issue on my laptops. As a professor, I do a lot of presentations!
A reliable Hdmi connection is a must for me as well. I actually planned to get the Lenovo 920 yesterday, but typing on keyboard was uncomfortable for me, so I ordered the x360 instead. Are you experiencing overheating issues, and coil wine with the HP? Also, how do you like the track pad and colors on screen?
I am not experiencing any overheating issues with the unit. I have it connected via Type C to HDMI on a new 49" Samsung CHG90 QLED monitor and it runs very well at 4K/120 Hz refresh rate. I have not heard any coil whine so far, but I am also not gaming on this unit, just RUclips and presentations in the classroom. The 4K screen is very nice - bright and colors are not oversaturated. Track pad is precise, but i use a Lenovo presentation mouse most of the time.
Thanks, appreciate the reply. I'm reading a mixture of good and bad reviews, but your experience sounds reassuring; I'm not a gamer and would use the laptop similarly to what you use it for. A few more days til it arrives, can't wait.
The x360 just came in. I love everything about it, except for the resolution and slower wifi connection compared to my Acer S7. Have you seen the regular HD version? if so, is there a huge difference compared to the 4k one? I got the i7, 8gb, 256 ssd, regular HD version for 849.99 with the 3 years protection plan. Would you recommend paying $500 more for the 4k version? Im trying to decide between the HP x360 4k version, surface laptop i7 256 ssd 8gb, or sufarce book 2 i5, 256ssd 8gb.
I just got my hands on one of these at Best Buy yesterday and it was just magical. Most likely my next device long term for work and play. I loved how powerful and light it is. Shout out to you for being a lefty as well. 👍
Really like your reviews. I had a bad HP Spectre X360 experience. Got mine from HP online in December. Five weeks later displayed a message that cooling fan not working and it shut down. HP Tech support was slow to ship box for service and slow to repair saying they ran out of parts. Insisted on my money back. Shopping around for a replacement.
I was just reading about that, I'm really interested in this laptop but the fan issue is holding me back, I've read so many comments about it overheating and the fan never working properly :/ I don't understand if that's happening with all models or just certain ones?
I have ordered this laptop after watching your review. Thanks for the precious tips that included in the video. It was really helpful. Once again thank you.
I ordered it last night. I had it in the 13 inch with i7 in rose gold. ♡ I had the choice to pay $30 to upgrade my pen to the tilt pen which is so worth it. Yes, this is exactly what I've been waiting for. Exactly what I want. I'm selling the underpowered/ underwhelming macbook in rose gold.
I’ve had mine since December and totally agree with Marc’s review. Great laptop, maybe you would prefer the 13 inch version since the 15 inch is a pretty big machine especially to use in tablet mode.
I really appreciate all of your reviews for laptops. I have been seeing them a lot. Which are helping me decide which computer to buy. Also, i love that you always do a test for a front facing camera so that i can see how the quality is and the sound for conference calls. Thanks!
I just got one of these recently. I love JUST ABOUT everything about it, EXCEPT the speakers, which I think sound terrible. They distort at very low volumes, and they just sort of sound... WEIRD. Like 4 speakers (yes, I know it IS 4 speakers), but all slightly out of sync. And no bass to speak of (I don't expect miracles, but a nice, rounded sound would be preferred. These are just all treble). To put it in perspective, the speakers on my Axon 7 (Yes, a SMARTPHONE. A $400 smartphone, no less) blow these away. So much for them being tuned by Bang & Olufsen... HP needs to contact ZTE to find out who did the speakers on the Axon 7. Speakers aside, though, it's a great machine. And well-priced. You're getting a lot of machine for your money (just be sure to get the 8th gen, quad-core processor. That makes a huge difference). A MUCH better value than a MacBook Pro. So, yeah: I'd recommend it, too. Just get a bluetooth speaker, or use headphones.
Thank you for the great review. I have been researching the 2 in 1 laptops and this one seemed like the best choice. The 15 inch is heavier then what I want and I don't need a screen that size. I would like to know if it has any kind of voice to text capability? I think it does have a pop up keyboard when in tablet mode?? So...great job and thanks again.
Me too, but I am not fully happy with it. Gets hot very easily and the high pitch noise when the keyboard light is on it's so annoying at night (well you know, exactly when you need the keyboard lit!). I also had to install the precision drivers for the touchpad since the synaptics are so lame.
I just ordered the i7, 8gb ram, 256gb from best buy today. Would you guys recommend just returning it? I'd probably get the Microsoft laptop i5, 256gb, 8gb ram if I did.
venture7o7 I literally returned my i7 8th gen 16g ram 512gb 1080p yesterday. I was a bit undecided since I got it on black Friday at a great price ($999). But I'd rather spend some more and get the yoga920. In addition to overheats and coil whine there were other smaller issues which made me take this decision (like touchpad gestures not smooth at all, keyboard difficult to see in some lighting conditions, bad screen colour accuracy). So definitely a nice laptop, but it can be improved.
Silvio Curia My original plan was to get the Lenovo 920 yesterday, but typing on it was uncomfortable for some reason, and I didn't like the rough tip feedback from stylus. Also, most of the best buy reps recommended the HP spectre x360 more. Was there a restocking fee when you returned it? What's the return policy on laptops?
Hi Andrew, as always excellent review! I was wondering how is the durability of the materials of the laptop? I'm specially preoccupied by the golden sides, since in minute 7:08 of the video they look really scratched, which is concerning given that you don't have a lot of time with the device... Thanks again and I hope that this little community gets bigger everyday!
Very high quality review. I am on the fence with purchasing this computer and your review is helpful. Keep up the great work. I am now a subscriber to your channel. Quality work
I have been waiting months for this machine....finding it difficult to source in the UK. It seems HP only sell the 4k edition here and I am after the 1080p version. It looks amazing and can't wait to get it. I think this machine is way better than any of the other models!
Hey Andrew. Great review overall of the device. How does it fare long term? Also I heard that the privacy screen comes with a higher refresh rate of 120 Hz. Is this true?
I live in Australia and HP haven't released the 8th gen version here yet so I think I'm going to buy it from America, anyway thanks for this review it's the best I've seen yet!
Mine (i7 8th gen) has distracting whistle fan noise in normal usage. Did you experience whistling fan noise too ? Anyway best laptop review so far, but should have added the noise measurement/simulation.
My only problem with the Spectre line - the wobble in the screen. It's almost impossible to draw on the screen unless it's full folded into tablet mode. The Yoga 920, on the other hand - moves into position and actually stays there. I guess it ultimately depends on what you are going to be doing with your laptop. I want to draw - so I chose the Yoga.....
Hi, Andrew! How well does the Spectre 13t perform for video editing? I’m looking for a good 2-in-1 laptop to edit 1080p video on; I’m liking what I see on this model, but there’s just not a lot of info online about how well it performs for tasks like that.
I was curious why you didn't choose the HP with the 4k screen. Battery concerns? The cost? I'm asking because I"m thinking about picking one up that has 16 gig ram 512 SSD. Open box in great condition for 900. Seems like a great deal. Tested it out and works well. Does get hot, but other than that love the features.
darynm I'm thinking about getting 8g ram without 4k for school, I just feel it would drain battery more and wouldn't be that useful for the higher price.
I absolutely love your reviews. Very insightful and informative. Love the editing and presentation of the information (a lot). Keep it up! You're one of my favorite reviewers
The upcoming Samsung notebook 9 pen (successor to the notebook 9 pro) seems more interesting to me. It's 300 gr lighter which is very important for a convertible and has the pen built in... And while the battery is smaller, you can charge it with any changer or power bank (5v, quick charge, power delivery). Does this HP charge with other chargers? (some HPs don't even charge with other non-HP power delivery chargers, let alone smartphone chargers...)
I asked HP if a usb-c to hdmi dongle and a leather sleeve came with the device. They kept telling me it came with neither. Everyone seems to get a sleeve though. The people at HP don't know what they're talking about. Just ordered today.
I was almost buying this one, but the glossy reflecting screen really scared me off, so now i'm waiting for an improved new version of the Samsung Book 12 to come out...
I am planning on upgrading my main machine. I come from the surface pro line up and was contemplating between Surface Book 2 and the HP spectre x360. I was looking to get the 16gb 4k version what would be your recommendation? I also do heavy note taking on my current surface as its much more efficient to have everything together in one place.
I'll be studying software engineering next semester and I need a new laptop. I'm hesitating between this one -- the 13" version -- and Dell xps 13 is it worth the few hundreds more ? I'm slightly on a budget right now.
Andrew Marc David You dont sound too receptive to feedback. Please do consider a video with more emotion in the speeches.. By sounding too robotic you risk turning people off and watch videos of personalities who do sound more colorful reviewing their products
Hey, AMD I'm looking for a new laptop to get by April this year or so and I wanted to know if you think this still holds up in 2020 and how much would it cost, like, estimate for me... I'm on a budget tho
i got a new Spectre X360 after the first one had a crooked hinge. This one does too but not as bad. Is this how the laptop is supposed to be built and do i have to worry about this? Please respond. It’s only the right one that’s crooked
Hi Andrew. Mike from Germany here. Thanks for the nice Review. Can you Review the new ASUS ZenBook Flip UX461UA 1.6GHz i5-8250U 14Zoll 1920 x 1080Pixel Hybrid (2-in-1), 90NB0GG1-M00490. That were great. Best Regards
No there's some differences Lenovo Yoga 920 Vibes 13.9" with 4K Display, 8th Generation Core i7-8550U, 1TB SSD and 16 GB of RAM VS HP Spectre x360 13.3" with 4K Display, 8th Generation Core i7-8550U, 1TB SSD and 16 GB of RAM HP • 16 GB RAM " DDR3 ". • 1080p Camera with IR sensor. • Support fast charging. ≈ 50% in 30 minutes • Anti Visual-hacking with new display security. • Bluetooth 4.2. • Has Accelerometer, Gyroscope and Ecompass sensors. • Comes with HP Active Pen. • 1.29 K.G Lenovo • 16 GB RAM " DDR4 ". • 720p Camera WITHOUT IR sensor. • Far-field Microphone. • Bluetooth 4.1. • Does not have Accelerometer, Gyroscope or Ecompass sensors. • Comes with Lenovo Active Pen 2 which support 4069 levels of pressure sensitivity.. which I think is the best. • 1.37 K.G

Andrew Marc David I'm stuck between this and the Huawei matebook x
Andrew Marc David Please review the Acer Switch 7 as well.
Yes thank god, i cant decide between this and the yoga
Andrew Marc David thank you for the coming comparison with the Lenovo yoga 920. I'm really still not sure which one to get.
Excellent and useful review...still unsure between 13 and 15 inch tho

Liion B do you have a 4k version?
Im wondering how the battery holds up versus the FHD version.
No, the FHD one because I wanted the best battery, the 4K screen is too much pixels for me! Lol
Liion B I hear ya. Best buy has the silver 360 with 8g ram and 256gb ssd I wanted the 16gb and 512gb though which at best buy was only available with the 4k screen. I pulled the trigger last night and hoping that battery life won't take a hit

also Lenovo 930 please
This is by far one of the best reviews!
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
It's $1350 at BestBuy right now, very tempting aghhhhh specs are so good too
I have ordered this laptop after watching your review.

Amazing review, so professional and things explained good. I bought this computer and I cant wait to receive it now!
Superb review, Andrew!
Thanks Linus! I really appreciate it! This really is a great convertible laptop. Happy Holidays!
Anytime! Happy Holidays too!
Great review helped me decide which laptop to get for fall college👌
Great review as usual and shared as usual! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the in-depth review. About to purchase one of these and your video helped.

did you try going to the bang and olufsen audio control app to adjust the sound?
Yes.
Any problem with coil whine or anything
None that I've noticed thus far.
Any updates on the build quality after a couple months? Interested in the higher spec as it is on sale on best buy with 4k
Thank you for the great review. I have been researching the 2 in 1 laptops and this one seemed like the best choice. The 15 inch is heavier then what I want and I don't need a screen that size. outstanding review . Cant wait until the next one . thank you so much !
You helped me pick this up instead of xps 13 .. thank you very much
Nice review. I got mine on black Friday at best buy. It was too good of a deal to pass up. $999 for the i7 16 gb ram and 516 gb ssd 😊
NighthawkNine I too bought the same from bestbuy but i am having loose trackpad and it is heating to 90C easily
Me too, but I am not fully happy with it. Gets hot very easily and the high pitch noise when the keyboard light is on it's so annoying at night (well you know, exactly when you need the keyboard lit!). I also had to install the precision drivers for the touchpad since the synaptics are so lame.

Best review ever keep it up really you have cleared every single question in my mind
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
Nice review..well said covering all the major aspects..kudos!!
Great review! Just wanted to point out you said 45 watt hour processor. It's watt, unit of power. Watt hour measures energy
I really liked the review and graphic presentation in the video.
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
I have been waiting months for this machine....finding it difficult to source in the UK. It seems HP only sell the 4k edition here and I am after the 1080p version. It looks amazing and can't wait to get it. I think this machine is way better than any of the other models!
Is this HP Spectre model ae502tU or some other HO Spectre model? Great review!
Wow, superb convertible laptop! 💚
Awesome review. I will be picking one up soon, unfortunately not at that price.
Please note that edges are not very scratch resistant. You have to take care of this pc and keep it in the sleeve while carrying around.
Hey Andrew. Great review overall of the device. How does it fare long term? Also I heard that the privacy screen comes with a higher refresh rate of 120 Hz. Is this true?
Nice one T. HP kicking goals. Have a great Christmas 🎄
Thanks Mate! You too, happy holidays!
Yes, you r doing well like it!
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
great review man
I'm balancing between the Asus Zenbook Flip S and the HP Spectre x360. What would be your choice @Andrew Marc David?
i love the gold on the sides
I live in Australia and HP haven't released the 8th gen version here yet so I think I'm going to buy it from America, anyway thanks for this review it's the best I've seen yet!
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
Thanks man... I am gonna get this with i7
Mine (i7 8th gen) has distracting whistle fan noise in normal usage.
I love your reviews what a review! By the way merry christmas
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
Hi, Andrew! How well does the Spectre 13t perform for video editing? I’m looking for a good 2-in-1 laptop to edit 1080p video on; I’m liking what I see on this model, but there’s just not a lot of info online about how well it performs for tasks like that.
Awesome review. Keep it up man
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
Your info was the tipping point go hp
Excellent Review and Excellent video editing... Keep it up...
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
I don't need touchscreen and that 360° degree hinge but i really love the design and size of the laptop. any recommendation???
Try the Microsoft Surface Laptop 2
Excellent review 😉
I was curious why you didn't choose the HP with the 4k screen. Battery concerns? The cost? I'm asking because I"m thinking about picking one up that has 16 gig ram 512 SSD. darynm I'm thinking about getting 8g ram without 4k for school, I just feel it would drain battery more and wouldn't be that useful for the higher price.
Overkill, the only reason to get a 4k, is if you will be editing videos in 4k. 1080p looks flawless in a small screen.
Atom M why would that be the only reason? Do you not care about pixel density? Or clarity? Or screen realistate? Or watching 4k content?
you are a great reviewer
The MX Master goes with this computer so damn well too lol.
I'm sure when you plug in the laptop, the CPU allows for 45w power draw
Gaming wise, is it good?
I absolutely love your reviews. Very insightful and informative. Love the editing and presentation of the information (a lot). Keep it up! You're one of my favorite reviewers
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
What mouse are you using in this review? :)
Please review Lenovo yoga 720. It is upgraded i think. They offer uhd graphics with 1TB PCIc ssd. Please review this laptop. Thanks.

get this, cheaper and worth more for price. Runs better too
Thank you!
very pleasant review

That laptop it's very awesome
And your video also good
Thanks! I really appreciate it!

Lenovo Yoga 920 Vibes 13.9" with 4K Display, 8th Generation Core i7-8550U, 1TB SSD and 16 GB of RAM VS HP Spectre x360 13.3" with 4K Display, 8th Generation Core i7-8550U, 1TB SSD and 16 GB of RAM
HP
• 16 GB RAM " DDR3 ".
• 1080p Camera with IR sensor.
• Support fast charging.
≈ 50% in 30 minutes
• Anti Visual-hacking with new display security.
• Bluetooth 4.2.
• Has Accelerometer, Gyroscope and Ecompass sensors.
• Comes with HP Active Pen.
• 1.29 K.G
Lenovo
• 16 GB RAM " DDR4 ".
• 1.37 K.G
I'm so hesitant 😬😅
Yoga uses Wacom tech (which I prefer) in their pens and HP uses N-trig - I've had excellent luck with Wacom tech.
Do u think a hp spectre x360 13 inch, i7 8550u, 8gb ram, 512gb ssd could handle light video editing? (I dont care about rendering times)
XyrusFifaGamer hell yes it can
