He then said and I quote, "the first track contains important game data, so please don't play it. But you probably won't listen to me, will you." Then this song would start playing immediately and as a kid you don't know how excited I was to discover an Easter egg that was the game disc itself completely by accident.
It's from Konami's Castlevania concept album "Castlevania: Perfect Selection Dracula Battle" Track #2, Composer 柴田直人プロジェクト, Released in 1994, how do I know? The CD is 2ft from me.

This song was off of a CD put out back in the '90s called "The Dracula Battle Soundtrack" that was nothing but hard rock/metal covers of Castlevania songs by this one band. Look up other stuff on it if you like. The version of Vampire Killer and Iron Blue Intention off of it were also awesome.
This is a throughly bad ass album and this is one of the best tunes on it. Love those ending guitar riffs, they sound like something from a Slayer album! Naoto Shibata did a great job with this album and he has reason to be proud.

Love this song. Always a favorite. However, and I'm sure it's been pointed out repeatedly, this is NOT Cradle of Filth. If I remember correctly, this is track from the Dracula Battle Perfect Collection. As for why Cradle of Filth is commonly credited . . . well, it may just be a similarity in sound, but even then it's a stretch. It's the same reason there's a Legend of Zelda song misccredited to System of a Down when it really belongs to "Rabbit Joint". Incorrect labeling, mainly.
@The218nexion I'm not saying it is COF but bands do release special tracks for certain regions and there are also usually tracks on singles or EPs so it is possible you have every album but haven't heard every single song.
@chinguidinsky there is actually a genre called dark metal but it's a pseudo genre, it's only pretty much used for bands or songs that are on the borderline between gothic,death,black and doom
Great music by Naoto Shibata....no wonder his music in the band called Storm Rider very similar to this one. I think the guitarist is Gentaro...listen to the his solo scaling in Storm Rider song "Glory of the Soldier".
@Kojitsu I know what you're saying, but it ticks me off that people think that metal, even if it sounds a bit dark like this, is Gothic (and Gothic is more or less what Cradle of Filth does). And I kind of agree (now that I think about it), kind of Neo classical, but I'm kind of half and half because the original version of this song came from a video game even though they did an excellent job of making both if them sound classical. But still mostly heavy.
