My Friend Bob played the guitar in this recording! Super proud of mah boy!!!!
This lady is SOOOOO underrated. Great talent!
That's exactly what I just said to myself. 100% ❤
She' not underrated
She's Allanah Myles, in a time of pop and rap and Metal
She came out with bluesey country, She literally did what no one else did and it shot her to super stardom
there is no way she is underrated
Black Velvet was one of the most played songs and was ALWAYS on video hits.
She's not underrated
@@martinkuliza Indeed but compared to many others at that time she can still be considered underrated.
@@deathhaschosenyou
unerrated... yes she can
Shes badass with that raspy voice. Gives me chills. Love her!❤
Exactly incredible voice.
Her voice is amazing!!!
the rasp does it for me.
The voice, the face, the body, the charisma... Alannah had it ALL.
So true..
Nope
She still does. Something's get better with time
And got tricked by her manager..
I love her! What happened to her?
One of the coolest and most unique songs of the 90s. Fantastic lyrics and great singer.
so true
@@katarinaspies5206The song and album came out in ‘89, but close enough.
This song has aged very, very well. I still reach for the volume when it comes on the radio.
I was 12 years old when I seen this chick in Ottawa it was my first outdoor concert , she blew my mind with her voice I knew right then and there I was gonna have an open mind for music. Alannah Myles you had me at "Show me"
Love Alannah Myles. This is a great song. She's a beautiful and talented Canadian. As well as an underrated singer.
I agree...so gorgeous and definitely underrated!
the only problem is ...she will tell you how amazing she is ..i had a cousin play with her on stage ...i guess shes very ahhhhh kinda special .
Geoff Edwards o
won hung low really ?
the idea of a sexy and talented Canadian artist didn't seem to exist before Alannah !
This song didn't get its due. My personal favorite from her.
Deborah Kerns Couldn’t agree more my friend
Me too
Spot on Deborah. Love her voice, great band, great arrangments...
Me too
Count me in too!
A forgotten treasure, she is so damn good.....OMG
When singers with less talent get all the views and air time you know that Alannah would not sleep her way to the top. Cause that is what you gotta do when real talent (like Alannah's) doesn't get to the top. A talented artist with the strength of soul.
i had the pleasure of seeing Alannah perform live as opening performer for Robert Plant back in the 90's, she put on an awesome show
You lucky guy !!!
rumour has it that when ole Percy wrote "29 Palms" he had seksy Allanah on his mind... 😍🥰💓
@@udsmall7306 True!
She did have other good songs besides “black velvet” which she’s known for
it's criminal that the views for this isn't in the MILLIONS! And she's got some wild eyes.
Man she was way hot. This song rules too.
wold rather listen to this any day over what's on the radio now
True that
Alannah has so much energy !!! Canada shouldn't waste it's energy !!! Let's get a big Alannah TOUR going !!!
And Dalbello and guys too.....
If Im not misstaken she suffered an sccident that caused her problems.if it was falling of a horse maybe.
@@elisabetpurve2908 from what I understand she was seeing a chiropractor who had requested to see her more often than what is recommended and buggered up her neck or something
This is the woman I was named after and I love her. Way better than any other artist these days.
it's criminal that the views for this isn't in the MILLIONS! And she's got some wild eyes.
Izzazzo Thats what I was thinking. Really different and a bit strange-but beautiful.
good way to describe them for sure. mystical.
It is now at least haha
Alannah Myles.
Always loved this album, one of the best ever made in music history.
Yes.
@@ulfutstrand we need more female vocalists like this nowadays
@@jordantreyofficial Yes. Music now sounds mostly the same regardless of gender. 70/80s artists and bands (for example Marillion, Queen, AC/DC), god, they were on a different level. I really wish that music like that will be back soon.
Just love the crisp propulsive groove to this track.
+Chris Wright propels me forward today to do something !!
the jangly James Brown guitar line...twiny flanged bass.. yep, it's badass! Her band was tight- underrated guitarists! 🎸🤘🎤🇨🇦😍👍
I need to somehow make it my alarm tone!
Vocal delivery second to none. Literally stunning.
Agree 100%, the texture of her voice is completely unique. To me "Love in the Big Town" is one of the best rock songs ever produced. Her Rocking Horse album is pure perfection
@@dfifty2Rock forever 🎸 🎸🎸
This thing rocked when it came out way back when and it is STILL kicking it in 2016. Great song and artist.
2018 and still going
I am just addicted to this amazing song and voice 🥰
She did a show in chicoutimi (Saguenay) in 1989 I heard she was running and climbing everywhere ! She's the best !!!!
She was and still is a phenomenal singer
I think she could sing anything and knock it out of the park. She has an AMAZING voice.
My dad R.I.P. died on my 18th Bday,
Remember him having all these records.
R.I.P. Russ Myrick
Everything is amazing in this video
Some kick ass guitar here, along with Alannah's great voice! Would love to see her singing again on tour!
Forgot about this song, thanks!!🎶🎶
What a voice... Great to listen even today.
SPECIALLY today !
Vocal delivery second to none. Literally stunning.
Man she was way hot. This song rules too.
Alannah Myles - 100 % CANADIAN !!!
She was incredible!😍 Soo underrated!
Was??? She's still alive, dude! Underrated??? Speak for yourself! I used to listen to her as a teenager on repeat, owning a copy of her album. Black Velvet was my teen moody hymn! LOL! I've even visited her in concert in Prague in the late 90's.
@@MichelleVisageOnlyFans keep your hair on champ, you used to listen her but am still listen her
@@zaferdurukan8901 Touche!
Just love the crisp propulsive groove to this track.
The bright red lipstick looks so good on her.
Alannah Myles - 100 % CANADIAN !!!
I’m convinced the 80s was the most awesome era of our time. I’m so damn sad I got only baby memories of the 90s I won’t ever get to experience a great amazing decade. Depressing. My generation sucks so much
I was born in 99.
Someone said that the music you grow up on when you're 14-17 is the most important factor in what you'll compare current music to.
And I think that's correct....
Every decade has its ups and downs, believe me.
In hindsight, and that's usually about 20 years later, those decades certainly look great. But were they really?...
I was born in '65, and consciously lived through the latter half of the 70s and beyond, and I'm just saying: don't believe everything you see or hear.
Remember those typical 80s series like Miami Vice etc?
Life simply wasn't like thát.
We actually thought the 80s music totally sucked, back then. With a few exceptions of course... And it's actually so much easier to listen to that 80s electronic music now 🤣🤣
Same with 90s - trust me, it wasn't all about wearing checkered shirts and (speaking of depressing....) listening to grunge 🤣
I used to think the same as you about the 60s - which I was too you to remember. There was still an innocence that remained from the 50s, right before everything went to shit with Vietnam happening and drugs (and related crimes) becoming a massive problem....
The 90s definitely had their good moments, and so do the 00s and 10s.
In time you'll see that too.
Don't let it wear you down - and don't feel guilty of missing it either: I've been to some 80s / 90s revival parties (all the good stuff and none of the bad 🤣🤣) and I'm sure there will be parties for more recent decades too. Enjoy them.
Her best track - in my humble opinion...
Thank you! I have always wondered why this video/song wasn't chosen as her best!?
I guess I didn't listen to enough radio play back in the '90s, because this woman could/can sing and deserved to be a star.. writing this in Jan '21
Remember this from back in the day in1989 in Gisborne New Zealand. A garage party favourite.
Kia Ora buddy.
Started dating my boyfriend which is now my husband when I first heard this song! Great music and great memories from the wonderful 90’s❤️❤️
What an amazing artist...
So Breathlessly Beautiful, Awesome Strut, Incredible Singer/Performer, Damn No Understand Why Another Label No Scoop Up You In A Flat Second!
This song is TOTALLY HOT!! It is THE PERFECT mix of R&B / POP / ADULT CONTEMPORARY and COUNTRY ALL IN ONE!! So sad that Alannah did not have more hits -- this song should get a 2018 DANCE REMIX VERSION!!
This song is ROCK !!
this woman needed more songs like black Velvet. Song that brought out the wild in her voice
@ R C I really love that griity sexiness in her voice you could say if Black Velvet could sing it would sound like her! 🤘
alanna myles she's a great canadian singer great music video 1989 love is😇🤗
I love this song! the riff, the voice, the beauty..................
❤ Happy Valentines Day ❤
Happy Valentine's
I had the cassette for this album when it came out. It had lots of play time in the car. Didn't have cable TV at the time and don't remember this video. Damn glad to see it now. Wow! Glad I can relive this era on youtube, and much better on the big screen today than the old 15" crt.
This is why I say that we were born at the perfect time.
please come back, YOU"RE amazing
best rock singer ever
Still got this thang for her! Here in May 2021. Canada eh, hell yeah! GO LEAFS GO!
One of the most delightful and unique songs of the 90s. Fantastic melody and great singing. Love it.
Great music and really easy on the eyes, Alannah had it all
never heard this one until today... WOW! Love it! And she's so beautiful !!
I love Alannah Myles!! i still listen to her music!!
Oh my God! Why did she disappear from the media? She is big and powerful as celine dion, so what happened? Why did this super star disappear? We want Alannah Myles back, we want the good voice back, we want the good music back, we want Alannah Myles!
heroin
@@8vedder3 Sad. Really sad. Let's pray for her.
The best! The energy level that comes from the gadget's screen is simply off the scale!
This materialized in my mind out of nowhere. So happy I found it. Not knowing all the lyrics was driving me nuts.
I kept hearing it on the radio and had to really search for awhile to find out what song this is
One of the best songs ever and I have heard a lot of music over my years.
Awesome
Whatever happened to Alannah ?? She's from Canada but is she still singing today? She rocks !!
She has a YT channel: you can ask her yourself.
Man she was way hot. This song rules too.
Vocal delivery second to none. Literally stunning.
wold rather listen to this any day over what's on the radio now
100% true!
Hej
Agree a million times over! This is singing! Yes, its a bit yesterday, but with the endless lack of great music today, who cares!!?
Those were the best times
I just heard it on the radio :D
so catchy, what a stunning beauty, love the contrast of cherry red lips and her alabaster skin, and the smokey rasp in her voice..good lord she's got it all.
exactly what I've always thought 😍🥰💓🎸🎤🤘👍
Love Alannah still listening to her in 2021,allways a party favourite :)
WOW belongs with these 2 words Alannah Myles
Love is..... patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
One of the best bass guitar arrangements in a pop/rock song.
Great tune great album 👌
it's criminal that the views for this isn't in the MILLIONS! And she's got some wild eyes.
The Rockstar version of Madonna :)
Man she was way hot. This song rules too.
loved this album
Love this song, but just now noticed the gorgeous slinking, snarling tone of what sounds like brand-new strings on the bass that starts at 0:09!
Love is ,Alannah Miles ❤
This song got lots of airplay 89/90. My favorite of hers.
Claps like thunder!! 👊🤘 🔥
God, I was in love with her back in the day. I saw one of, if not, her very first performances where she opened for Bryan Adams in Revelstoke, BC.
This song still rocks, I still reach for the volume every time it comes on the radio.
Today's music is nothing like this.
every straight Canadian guy between 20 and 25 was in love with her.
im a new fan! the first song i listened of her's was black valvet
Khizar Shaf Same with me. Oh, and grammatically you should have said: I'm a new fan. The first song of hers I listened to was Black Velvet.
Alannah --- Love is what I got for you! Had a major crush on her when this came out.
I've known this song before I even really heard "Black Velvet" and in spite of hearing that and also the whole Alannah Myles album, this song is still BY FAR my favorite of hers. For some reason it just speaks to me. Also the video is soooooo sultry. 😍
LOVE this song. Phenominal vocals, great band...been loving this since the 90's ❤️
Its an artist, not a band
My friend Robs father met allanahs father at a party in Toronto. The bass is really good talented band with Alannah hoping she will come to the festival of lights in Peterborough Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
What a beautiful witch !
She's a power house and a great performer, luv her!
Bass, vocs and guitar cut through!
im a new fan! the first song i listened of her's was black valvet
Vocal delivery second to none. Literally stunning.
wold rather listen to this any day over what's on the radio now
Awesome never gonna get this in this era
LOVE IS
Hard to get
Impossible to hold
Straight and narrow
Like a burning fuse
In a long cold dawn
By the side of the road
A hopeless case
A perfect thing
Love is (love is)
What you want it to be
Love is (love is)
Heaven to the lonely
Show me
What you want me to do
Cause love is
What I got for you
I close my eyes
Search the stars
Call for help
Wake up cold
You're in my system
Under my skin
Raw emotion
Please don't go
Love is (love is)
What you want it to be
Love is (love is)
Heaven to the lonely
Show me
What you want me to do
Cause love is
What I got for you
Can't live on promises
Won't sleep at night
Don't understand the things you say
Till I read them in your eyes
Got to run on instinct
Got to go by feel
Got to trust my senses
Know it is for real
Can't live on promises
Won't sleep at night
Don't understand the things you say
Till I read them in your eyes
Got to run on instinct
Got to go by feel
Got to trust my senses
Love is (love is)
What you want it to be
Love is (love is)
Heaven to the lonely
Show me
What you want me to do
Cause love is
What I got for you
Love is (love is)
Love is (love is)
Show me

loved this album
No abusive clothing, no twerk, no damn back dancers, absolutely gorgeous and perfect .... Pure art 😍 what a voice !
Real artists don t use “flesh”this is art 🖼 real music and still rocks
just pure art, hairspray, leather, red lipstick and dudes in snake print tights in the background
Well...the female rock singers don't need all that crap. That is only for the damn reggaeton/nowadays pop things
Wow. I wasn't expecting to see an attack on Cher, Madonna, and Tina Turner today.
What's abusive clothing?
Yo compré el cassette de Alannah en 1990 sólo por esta canción. Me gustaba Black Velvet, pero cuando lanzó este single, me encantó y ella me terminó de convencer. Tremenda cantante. Aún conservo ese cassette.
She will always be the true Alannah. She knows what real rock is. Her and Pat Benatar. I would love to see the real women of rock get together when the covid is over. Alannah Myles, Pat Benatar, Heart, etc. She doesn't have a whiney voice like Alanna Morissette. 💜💛
I love the colour grading of this video.
Alannah is amazing
Great song. I've always loved this. My favourite by her.
I used to love this song! Still standing the test of time in 2022!! X 😍
Kedvenc számaim egyike nagyon rég óta.Thx from Hungary!
The bright red lipstick looks so good on her.
Man she was way hot. This song rules too.
Vocal delivery second to none. Literally stunning.
Heard this song on the radio today stirred up some old memories when she played in Kelowna that raw voice
Wow ! This woman's got it ALL . Love to see & hear Alannah perform . SUPERB
Superstar right here that was never given her dues. Alannah rocked the stage like no other female artist of her time and blows away performers of today by miles. It's a shame but there was so much great music and bands in the 80's that her talent never got the exposure and fame it truly deserved.
