I originally had no problems with Bad Wolves doing a cover of "Zombie" by The Cranberries. But then once Tommy Vext was fired, he started using that song as a protest against "cancel culture". The surviving members of The Cranberries were fucking pissed and rightfully so.
Oh, is that why the Cranberries were pissed? i remember hearing that from a Loudwire video a few years ago, and pretty much all the comments were on Tommy's side and glazing the hell out of the cover saying it was "one of the greatest of all time", so this all VERY much checks out.
@@Garrison_the_BarbarianAbsolutely they Irish as was was Dolores , that song was against the war there and some guy comes along and minimise the meaning of it. Fuck that.
I agree with all but the Falling in Reverse. It was approved by Jacoby Shaddix. Not to mention that the whole vibe that those who listened to both versions took from it was Jacoby's version was the angry teens and Ronnies was the broken adults. I mean its a simple youtube search to show that Ronnie not only had the permission to do so, but Jacoby enjoyed it. I dont think Ronnie would have released it if he didnt get Jacobys blessing.

Yelawolf - The Devil Went Down To Georgia Alien Ant Farm - Smooth Criminal (yes, I mean it) Fall Out Boy - Beat It 3TEETH - Pumped Up Kicks (or just any of their covers in general) Ice Nine Kills - Animals (or, again, any other of their covers) Smash Mouth - I'm A Believer Marilyn Manson - Down In The Park Uncle Kracker - Drift Away Dope - You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) B_tth0le Surfers - Summer In The City
To be fair, Metallica has a spot at every show where Kirk and Rob come out and cover a piece of a song, it's designed as a break for James and Lars (in replacement of a guitar or bass solo as a break). So it's hard to really consider it a proper cover.
Wow, it’s crazy that I didn’t even know most of these cover existed. Metallica covering When Doves Cry is truly bizarre, at least they didn’t butcher Purple Rain.
It's a thing they usually do in concert to acknowledge where they're playing. They did the same thing when I saw them awhile back. Let's just say there's a reason why James is the lead singer.
6:56-7:00 You're not wrong, because it turns out according to one ex-Kidz Bop member on a now-deleted r/AskReddit article, Kidz Bop was set up and handled by the son of a notorious con artist who would swindle the child singers and their parents out of their savings. It could take months or even years to get royalties for these songs from this twat alone, and he only wanted each Kidz Bop CD to be sold for a quick buck, rather than provide talent through the children covering music(it's even obvious when Kidz Bop botched good songs without understanding either one's context, and cleaned up songs that were already for family movies like Let It Go and Sunflower even further, made completely meaningless because clean versions of songs with profanity, violence, and sexual themes exist in particular). Lastly, Kid Rock and Falling in Reverse(so is the artist Ronnie Radke) only made names for themselves through acting completely foolish, immoral, and questionable in public. They weren't talented at all despite thinking so, and fumbled by bad covers produced alongside their erratic behavior(even towards fans). They deserve all the hate, and despite my sister liking FiR unironically, she too admits the artist's covers and lead Ronnie Radke are completely shitty.
This explains why these singers on the KB records never amounted to singing fame after the fact. I don't think a single kid ended up as anything in the music business.
I don't think a slowed down cover of a fast, aggressive song HAS to be bad. Gary Jules' cover of 'Mad World' and Type O Negative's cover of 'Paranoid' are proof enough of that as far as I'm concerned. Metallica also did a slowed down version of their own 'Blackened' during the pandemic sessions that worked surprisingly well. But between Five Finger Death Punch's cover of 'Gone Away' and whatever that Falling in Reverse cover of 'Last Resort' was supposed to be, maybe we need to retire the concept for a little while.
I agree with all of these except Falling In Reverse’s cover. It’s a different take to a song about mental health. It showed some of Ronnie’s vocal chops. Idk I dig it.
Having listened to it, I can say the vibe it gives me is Ronnie hearing that Disturbed got a popular resurgence in 2015 by covering a song by slowing it down and filling it with atmosphere and piano ("Sound of Silence") and Ronnie saw... I don't want to say dollar signs... Attention signs?
Its not great. While Ronnie is a douche he's still talented... but that cover is not great. Also super cringe to show your song to someone while you're in the room. You're probably not going to get an honest reaction from a lot of people.
A lot of the covers Kirk and Robert did during that concert run were interesting. I get that they were trying to play a local song to hype the crowd but their cover of Celtic Frosts the usurper was so interesting (though at least in their genre wheelhouse) they got a nasty message from grumpy old Tom Warrior.
Yeah I don’t think those covers are bad at all, they’re just simple jams meant to connect and hype the crowd while James and Lars are on break, cheesy? Sure but I don’t think they close to being necessarily bad with how inoffensive they are.

Normally I can give Kidz Bop some credit for ruining songs that DESERVE to be ruined. But The Beatles are legendary so I can't defend that position with Kidz Bop Sings The Beatles
I never looked up which band it was but I was once subjected to a cover of OutKast's "Hey Ya". They turned the upbeat rhythm into a slow, mopey drone that totally ruins the entire point of the "Y'all don't wanna hear me, you just wanna dance" vibe.
Sleep Token did a cover of Hey Ya, I believe it was just Vessel on piano and vocals. I like Sleep Token but didn't really care for this cover very much.
Fall Out Boy's cover of "Love Will Tear Us Apart" and Powerman 5000's cover of "Devil Inside" legitimately pissed me off. it's like shitting on Ian Curtis and Michael Hutchence's graves.
I can tell that Jacoby was not really vibing, he was just trying to make some moves just to please Ronald the Clown. I feel bad for Papa Roach, especially when their number one song was ruined by Ronald the Clown. It’s clear that what Ronald touches, he either: 1. Breaks it into a million pieces 2. Makes the song look like his own “Great song” when it’s trashed. 3. Goes on a rampage thinking that his songs are way better than the original cover. 4. Whines like a little baby when he gets called out for his crappy covers. At this point, Ronnie shouldn’t have just made a band in the first place, he should’ve just stayed solo where he belongs.
I’ve never cared for Last Resort in general, but when Ronnie dropped the cover I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why he thought it was a good idea. That version made me appreciate the original a lot more, and I’m still not a fan of it.
I'm a big 311 fan and yeah that self esteem cover wasn't great. I remember when it first dropped. They did a co-headline tour with the Offspring and each did a cover of the other's song so I think it was just thrown together super quickly as a tour promotion, it wasn't on an album or anything.
I honestly thought that Nickelback's take on Devil Went Down to Georgia was really good, also I'm saying this as a massive Beatles fan since they were the first band that really got me into music but why in the name of God did _Kidz Bop_ of all people have to cover them? Like, hearing that was actually torturous and I'm sure that John Lennon and George Harrison are probably rolling in their graves...

To be fair, Chili from TLC performed Scrubs with Weezer at Coachella. Also, when I saw them at Summerfest a few years ago perform Africa, the audience (and I) enjoyed it!
i bet 12:15 is gonna age poorly, and it's gonna turn out, that next year we'll get even more covers so bad that they make us wanna put pins in our ears
Flyleaf covering the Nine Inch Nails song "Something I Can Never Have" was awful. Like an emo girl mad that her boyfriend is not doing what she wants her to do.
The Kids Bop Beatles record is bad, but is it as bad as the “The Chipmunks Sing the Beatles Hits” cassette a family friend gave me after finding out 4-year-old-me was a Beatles fan? I wish I was kidding. It was terrible.
I honestly dont think the FiR Last resort cover is that bad. Infact, I think it is really good. Sure, Radke is an asshat, and cringe af. But he did do a good job on that one. I can think of so many worse covers at least.
Here's a few that I thought were awesome if not done well. Guns•N•Roses-Hair of the Dog Metallica-Tuesday's Gone Nonpoint -In the air tonight Black Label Society- Ain't no Sunshine Anthrax- Parasite Pantera- Cat Scratch Fever Gwar- Carry on my Wayward Son Ozzy Osbourne -Come Together Butcher Babies- They're coming to take me Away. Godsmack-Nothing else Matters Volbeat- Don't tread on Me Korn- Creep A Perfect Circle- Imagine Disturbed-The Sound of Silence Oh & two kick ass covers of The Devil Went Down To Georgia. Check out both the Primus & Adrenaline Mob versions!🤘🏻💀
Oh & how come the Framing Hanily cover of Lil Wayne's Lollipop didn't make the list? lol That ear drum assault & battery is the truest definition of the term "TRASH" 😂
9:47 This was probably in Minneapolis. Metallica has made it a habit to play a local song sung by Rob in every city. It's more of a humorous tribute. They have also done this in Germany, for example, with German songs such as “Skandal im Sperrbezirk” (Munich) or “Völlig losgelöst” (Stuttgart).
FIR absolutely butchered Last Resort! I know Jacoby likes it, but all of the anger, desperation, pain, and hopelessness that are infused in the very personal lyrics have been completely stripped. It's like Ronald Mcdonald thought a Lv 1. necromancer could pull off a lv. 50 spell. It's a rotting decaying corps that wants to be put out of it's misery but it's eternal and undead.
Sorry for so many comments, but my thoughts on each cover: Motley Crue - This may just be one of the worst things MC has ever done, which says a lot Kid Rock - EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW Maroon 5 - Meh, tbh they've done much worse. It's not great, but I'd rather listen to it then their post-2012 stuff Weezer - As a Weezer fan, I agree that the Teal Album should've never happened. This is dumb even by Weezer standards Fall Out Boy - To be fair, their Ghostbusters theme cover makes this look like Johnny Cash's Hurt in comparison Kidz Bop - WE NEED TO STOP LETTING KIDZ BOP MAKE MUSIC Nickelback - Take out the profanity, and it could've been fine. That's what really makes this disappointing 311 - Almost as bad as when the Offspring covered 311. Damn, these two bands must really hate each other haha Metallica - Sounds like a Lulu outtake, change my mind Falling In Reverse - Actual ear cancer
The Beatles are my #1 favorite band of all time. They're practically my religion. And it saddens me to no end, because it's bad enough that today's youth are being represented by the worst of the worst in music. But the fact that Kidz Bop. Kidz! Bop! released an entire "tribute" album dedicated to them and that it could be some poor child's first introduction to the wonder and magic of The Beatles...Frankiy, it just makes me want to cry.
Notice the sheet music on stands in front of Robert and Kirk? Yeah, that wasn't a rehearsed performance, they were live reading a song neither of them had ever played before. This is known to be a thing they did. Reporting it as a "bad cover" is borderline negligence.
As part of the show, Kirk and Robert would cover a song from a locally known artist in each city on the tour. It was really meant to be something to do while giving James and Lars a break during the show. None of the covers were meant to be serious.
Every song off of Flaw's album "Revival". From a painful rendition of Peter Gabriel's In your Eyes, all the way to an over reverbed version of Broken Wings by Mr. Mister, Flaw manages to mangle every classic they touched. They even ruined a few of their own songs by giving them the re-record treatment. Nothing on this cover album was enjoyable.
How about a top 10 or 20 of the best rock covers? I would say Lenny Kravitz’ “American Woman”, POD’s “Bullet the Blue Sky”, Disturbed’s Sound of Silence, Rage Against the Machine’s How I Could Just Kill A Man, Metallica’s Turn the Page, 311’s cover of Lovesong should be in it too
I know you this channel seems to me to be some sort of music criticism/drama thing but I don't understand how you can hate on FIR cover of Last Resort it was actually an amazing cover and reimagining of the original and Papa roach even said they thought it was really good anyway each to their own I guess but I'm just a lady what do I know... wow, misogynist much..
FWIW: 311 covered ‘Self-Esteem’ when they were on tour with The Offspring in 2018; likewise, The Offspring covered 311’s ‘Down’, and they were both released together in collaboration with each other. While I do agree that they both have some level of cringe, it was also pretty awesome to see them have fun with each other‘s hits. I’m a fan of both bands, and it does have a tinge of nostalgia to it, even if they both sound wildly out of place.
You know, i always thought that shatner was the worst person ever to cover the beatles, then i saw the kidz bop entry. I cant believe that was a thing good lord.
Motley Crue isn’t the only band to embarrass themselves by covering “Fight for Your Right…”. Big & Rich thoroughly humiliated themselves by also covering it. Those schmucks didn’t even have the balls to say “porno mags”.
@@ThesharkStrangler i don't even know who 311 is, so i'd probably like Offspring versionvmore just becase its the Offspring *edit after listening* 311 sound like if an AI was trying to recreate a cross between Third Eye Blind and STP doing imitation of The Offspring themselves
Breaking Benjamin and Shinedown were asked to cover Queen songs for the tribute album and SD covered Tie your mother down and BB Who wants to live forever it was approved by Queen. Other artis were on the album. I loved both covers!!
I don't know if this is something that you're for because this wasn't made by a band, but Lauren Babic's cover of FTCU is god awful! I couldn't even finish it, that's how bad it was. It pains me to say that because I liked a lot of her covers and her original stuff is great too, but metal and trap do not mix at all!
Disney recently released a Pop/Punk cover album of some of their biggest songs from the movies .. My twin 4 year old girls love it & hopefully it’s a doorway into them getting into “Rock”..
The only Glam/Hair Metal band I can think of that still brings out decent stuff is Stryper. No I am not kidding check out No More Hell To Pay and The Valley.
Ehh. Who cares about random goofy live one off things. Like, the Metallica one is just a little jam thing Kirk and Rob do at shows to give James and Lars a break. They offen pull out something relevant to the city they are playing in, in this case it was Prince's home town.
I'm a huge fan of Biffy Clyro and they've done some great covers, but their version of Buddy Holly is... interesting for all the wrong reasons, coming from someone who despises the original song.

Same I'm not the biggest fan I only like a few of there songs
I never looked up which band it was but I was once subjected to a cover of OutKast's "Hey Ya". They turned the upbeat rhythm into a slow, mopey drone that totally ruins the entire point of the "Y'all don't wanna hear me, you just wanna dance" vibe.
Sleep Token did a cover of Hey Ya, I believe it was just Vessel on piano and vocals.
I like Sleep Token but didn't really care for this cover very much.
@DesolateSpace594 yep that's the one
Honestly the Nickelback one wasn’t too bad, yeah the profanity was overdone but other than that I think that it was really well done
I think he added it, because its Nickelback.
it's always a good day when Luke roasts Ronnie Radke
nah it's getting old
If Ronnie stopped making bad shit, it'd be pretty easy not to roast him.
@@bendutoit5371 Ronnie trying to be a tough guy is older though.
Honestly I actually like Nickelback's The Devil Went Down to Georgia cover, its Honestly the best song on this list
Fall Out Boy's cover of "Love Will Tear Us Apart" and Powerman 5000's cover of "Devil Inside" legitimately pissed me off. it's like shitting on Ian Curtis and Michael Hutchence's graves.
Great content as always.
That Beatles cover turned Kidz Bop into a NyQuil commercial.
I can tell that Jacoby was not really vibing, he was just trying to make some moves just to please Ronald the Clown. I feel bad for Papa Roach, especially when their number one song was ruined by Ronald the Clown. It’s clear that what Ronald touches, he either:
1. Breaks it into a million pieces
Yeah, Dexter Holland screaming SA's rap is cringe for sure.
Heres a few more....
Ugly Kid Joe~Sweet Leaf
Zug Izland- Cry Little Sister
Psychostick-Danger Zone
Megadeth-Problems
Kittie-Run like Hell
Halestorm-Hunger Strike
I mean, Psychostick's cover wasn't really meant to be taken seriously. Nothing Psychostick does is meant to be taken seriously.
@carrissasky5635 i know lol but it doesn't make it any less awesome
@@carrissasky5635Psychostick kicked ass with their version!!!
To be fair, Chili from TLC performed Scrubs with Weezer at Coachella. Also, when I saw them at Summerfest a few years ago perform Africa, the audience (and I) enjoyed it!
about the ending, id really enjoy to see the reverse of this, some of the BEST covers
i bet 12:15 is gonna age poorly, and it's gonna turn out, that next year we'll get even more covers so bad that they make us wanna put pins in our ears
Flyleaf covering the Nine Inch Nails song "Something I Can Never Have" was awful. Like an emo girl mad that her boyfriend is not doing what she wants her to do.
Theyre just awful in general
The Kids Bop Beatles record is bad, but is it as bad as the “The Chipmunks Sing the Beatles Hits” cassette a family friend gave me after finding out 4-year-old-me was a Beatles fan?
I wish I was kidding. It was terrible.
I don't hate FiR Last Resort cover. The melody was originally written on piano by Tobin. Vocals aside IMO Last Resort on piano is refreshing.
Weezer covering No Scrubs has the energy of punching yourself in the face and hoping it damages your opponent. The only damage done is emotional.
I honestly dont think the FiR Last resort cover is that bad. Infact, I think it is really good. Sure, Radke is an asshat, and cringe af. But he did do a good job on that one. I can think of so many worse covers at least.
Here's a few that I thought were awesome if not done well.
Guns•N•Roses-Hair of the Dog
Metallica-Tuesday's Gone
Nonpoint -In the air tonight
Black Label Society- Ain't no Sunshine
Anthrax- Parasite
Pantera- Cat Scratch Fever
Gwar- Carry on my Wayward Son
Ozzy Osbourne -Come Together
Butcher Babies- They're coming to take me Away.
Godsmack-Nothing else Matters
Volbeat- Don't tread on Me
Korn- Creep
A Perfect Circle- Imagine
Disturbed-The Sound of Silence
Oh & two kick ass covers of The Devil Went Down To Georgia. Check out both the Primus & Adrenaline Mob versions!🤘🏻💀
Oh & how come the Framing Hanily cover of Lil Wayne's Lollipop didn't make the list? lol That ear drum assault & battery is the truest definition of the term "TRASH" 😂
Pantera’s cover of Cat Scratch Fever was awesome!!! And Fear Factory doing Gary Numan’s Cars!!
I feel like every episode of this series should feature the Puddle of Mudd cover of “About A Girl”
Sorry for so many comments, but my thoughts on each cover:
Motley Crue - This may just be one of the worst things MC has ever done, which says a lot
Kid Rock - EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
Maroon 5 - Meh, tbh they've done much worse. It's not great, but I'd rather listen to it then their post-2012 stuff
Weezer - As a Weezer fan, I agree that the Teal Album should've never happened. This is dumb even by Weezer standards
Fall Out Boy - To be fair, their Ghostbusters theme cover makes this look like Johnny Cash's Hurt in comparison
Kidz Bop - WE NEED TO STOP LETTING KIDZ BOP MAKE MUSIC
Nickelback - Take out the profanity, and it could've been fine. That's what really makes this disappointing
311 - Almost as bad as when the Offspring covered 311. Damn, these two bands must really hate each other haha
Metallica - Sounds like a Lulu outtake, change my mind
Falling In Reverse - Actual ear cancer
Completely agree, but you let Maroon 5 off the hook too easy. They deserve so, so much more hate than that.
@ Ik, i don’t like their modern stuff either. I still hated the cover, but I’d rather listen to it over AI generated crap
jfc I was not prepared for how bad the "when doves cry" cover was going to be
Breaking the Blueprint is exactly what your playlist needs right now. 🎧 Search it on RUclips, and you’ll find an epic 7-track album (eagle mic cover)
I liked the Last Resort cover, actually. Considering I don't care for FIR's rap-rock songs, I found it a refreshing cover.
7:20 i want kids to LIKE the Beatles
Surprisingly, I loved Nickelback's cover of Devil Went Down to Georgia.
Freddie is hard to match, but Queen isn’t impossible to cover. Michael Buble and Dwight Yoakam did “Crazy…” very well.
I love the Last Resort cover. His voice is beautiful!
Best cover of The Devil Went Down to Georgia will always be the Guitar Hero 3 version by Steve Ouimette. Hands down.
Yeah that Last Resort cover is pretty awful, sounds like background music to a movie trailer.
The kids bop Beatles sounded like a show at a amusement park stage
I'd argue the deep-cut cover of NIN's "Closer" by Maroon 5 is even worse.
All hail Pearl!!!
...
Quietly 🤫
He has earned a good nap.
If you think 311’s Self Esteem is bad, The Offspring’s cover of Down is even worse
Down, as in Stone Temple Pilots Down?
@ the 311 song
@@ThesharkStrangler i don't even know who 311 is, so i'd probably like Offspring versionvmore just becase its the Offspring *edit after listening* 311 sound like if an AI was trying to recreate a cross between Third Eye Blind and STP doing imitation of The Offspring themselves
Nicer way of putting it is 311 as a band already sound like they are doing a bad Offspring cover
Breaking Benjamin and Shinedown were asked to cover Queen songs for the tribute album and SD covered Tie your mother down and BB Who wants to live forever it was approved by Queen. Other artis were on the album. I loved both covers!!
Puddle of Mudd’s cover of “About a Girl” is atrocious… It’s worse than Limp Bizcuit covering “Behind Blue Eyes”
Should also include the top 10 best covers by Pat Boone!!!
Disney recently released a Pop/Punk cover album of some of their biggest songs from the movies ..
My twin 4 year old girls love it & hopefully it’s a doorway into them getting into “Rock”..
A very very underrated and little known cover is Motionless In White covering Rammstein's "Du Hast". Like they did an amazing job.
The only Glam/Hair Metal band I can think of that still brings out decent stuff is Stryper.
No I am not kidding check out No More Hell To Pay and The Valley.
The cover of The Devil Went Down To Georgia by State of Mine is an absolute banger and you can pry it from my cold dead hands
Ehh. Who cares about random goofy live one off things. Like, the Metallica one is just a little jam thing Kirk and Rob do at shows to give James and Lars a break. They offen pull out something relevant to the city they are playing in, in this case it was Prince's home town.
Ronnie's version of "Last Resort" is the most self serving ego stroke I have ever heard in my entire life.
A fan of boath Papa Roach and Falling in Reverse. I actually think Falling In Reverse version of Last Resort is actually somewhat better
Graveyard classics…
I'm a huge fan of Biffy Clyro and they've done some great covers, but their version of Buddy Holly is... interesting for all the wrong reasons, coming from someone who despises the original song.
FiR's Last Resort is infinitely better than the original, if for no other reason than it's no longer a rap song.
Yesterday was the 30th anniversary of the Nirvana unplugged something tells me nothing will ever top it
