First guy: If he is renting he wouldn't be allowed to bolt anything to the floor, but he could use 2-4 tension rods to stabilize the wall unit into place. He has solid ceilings, I checked while watching. :D Fourth Guy: Hit an office supply place, they have insulated cubical walls that deaden sound and fold and you can usually find them used on the cheap, and the best thing is that they are free-standing so no need to do any damage to install them. Update for anyone interested, found some on ebay and instructions on making them with cheap plywood, material, and batting on youtube. :D

If I had the room mate in the loft I'd put up two tracks and two curtains -- one to let in light while providing privacy, and one dark one for night time when he wants to sleep. If I was up there during the day and only had a dark curtain I'd have it open all the time for light, which would defeat the purpose.
Put a dowel on the shelf or piece of wood on the bottoms of the shelf above the toilet to create like a spice rack situation so the things don’t fall off.
That sink that looks like it's overhanging over the toilet tank why did the landlord to that?! Maybe it's a visual illusion looking from that angle but I still hate it. if the basin was rectangular then it wouldn't look that way. Also why a pedestal sink in such a small space. Waste of storage space! I've seen curving shelves for under pedestal sinks that can't be removed...
I like their ideas but none of them seem renter friendly? All these bolting and screwing things in the wall ideas are nice but I don’t know if it’ll actually be useful to any of these people. 🙃
Agreed, you can't just chip or paint your tiles in NYC without permission, you'll lose your deposit. Plus, like.... why are they being so salty about the way these folks were making do before? They're legit approaching for help, they know it's not great as-is, you can help without dragging people... but apparently not, since they keep suggesting things you can legit get in trouble for doing if you rent.
