agreed. I enjoy getting NLs brand of humor and opinions on a variety of games, because the character he is seems to be very Genuinely who he is and its cool to see someone be thier authentic self.
Current state of the game isn't really worth a series. It's great and I liked it but only for a few hours, the game still has a lot of development ahead of it

These people don't appreciate the mixed blend potions. Healing and frost damage, defense and poison, these are the kind of Rascal Potions that create the cheeky reputation Potion Sellers cultivate.
Nah you've misunderstood. They needed the frost to coat their blade, so if they put the frost/healing on it, they would be doing frost damage but also healing whatever they're hitting. Same with the poison/ironskin. If they fed that to the rats they would be getting poisoned, but also would have more defense, negating the poison.
This game looks so cool and appeals to like the 3 year old in my brain who loved to throw random bits of foliage into water and stir them around.
As a childhood shampoo and conditioner alchemist, I also approve.
Customer: I would like to deal with the ants infesting my house.
NL: Do I have the potion for you! This high-tier fire potion will burn your house to the ground with the ants inside!

To get a Strong (rank 3) potion, you typically want to overshoot the potion and then use water to dilute it back.
Therefore, you should aim for anywhere radially outwards from the center.
For instance, at 34:02, you didn't need to add any more ingredients. The current firebell path would take you slightly ahead of the spot you are aiming for, and then you can use water to take it back.
One way to visualise, is to imagine the line from the centre to the potion goal being extended, and you want to line up with that line.
This is equivalent to the little line from the in-progress-potion lining up with the line on the map.

level three effect is not only achievable but actually easy if you use water and stirring correctly. The real challenge in the game is making the mixed potions required as reagents in the alchemy machine recipes. NL hasn't even gotten close to that.

I only got 10 minutes into the video before I bought the game and then binged it for like 10 hours. Great fkn game. 9/10 and that last 1 is because they're still working on the shop upgrades. I love the no-time-limit style of puzzle solving and mini-gaming

trying to find the most efficient methods to get the highest-tier potions in this game gave me the same feeling as that one scene from the sixth harry potter book when the wildly specific better potion notes were handwritten in the margins of the textbook
"ok, so you can get a basic-ass poison from just a firebloom and terraria, BUT, if you add another intact firebloom, coarsely grind the terraria, add water AFTER the sixth counterclockwise stir, finish with just a *pinch* of green mushroom..."

I would really like to see NL play more potion craft. But I worry it won't happen because people in the twitch chat seemed to be under the impression he had completed the games content. Which couldn't be further from the truth. He hasn't even touched the Alchemy Machine, much less made the philosopher's stone.
Please NL. Keep playing. The game is really good and has a lot of content to be mined.

This would be sooo awesome in a full RPG game.. like witcher or elder scrolls. You unlock more of the map and directions of the ingridiendts by reading books and brew potion as you like.. Would be sooo awesome

NL you can tell when the potion will be able to be grade 3, because each potion effect has a line leading to the center. Additionally, your potion-in-progress has a line leading to the center. Line them up, then pour water slowly until you get grade 3

Yeah, I played the demo ages ago, all my potions were easily level 3 doing this and using very few materials. Could never understand why people on the forums struggled, watching the video now I understand lol. To get L3 potions just line it up with the cauldron (but further away) and then add water. It's not quite as simple as use the line because you have to eyeball it a bit but basically that.
