The 16 is very very good. I guess if you looked at it as a boss hog costing $500, then this at $250 seems a bit more reasonable lol. It really is hard to justify spending $250 retail on a bottle. I guess to some, that’s a bit less of a hit on the bank. Regardless, it’s very good stuff. Is it better? I think so. But that much better? Ehh. The issue is there comes a point that price vs taste correlation is very skewed. If you want something to taste 1% better, it’ll cost you an extra $50 unfortunately
I noticed your regular seagrass is 119.84 and mine is 118.4. So this is a batched product? I haven't heard much about different batches and how they compare.
I definitely use that point of view for a lot of bottles. When I can buy several delicious bottles for the price of one, that’s usually the route I go!
I paid $70 for Seagrass and it's readily available for $80 here in Ca. The 16yr is $220 here... no thanks. With the Economy going to sh!t I think you're going to see $100+ bottles sit on the shelfs more now...

Excellent review Trev. There are some Barrell products selling in Canada that are priced so high that it is hard to pull the trigger. This is a 16 year cask strength Crown Royal Rye with all the finishes
Don’t get me wrong; this bottle is incredible. I think this is really going to come down to the person and what $250 means to them. I mean, whistle pig is selling bottles for $500, I think this $250 is fair in that regard!
Don't drop the box...got it. As for those seals I just spin them off I dont have time to be perfect in this world. Although now that you mention it, it looks much nicer the way you do it. I doubt ill get my hands on this one but it sounds fantastic. Great stuff Trev cheers.

Love the regular Seagrass, bought 4 bottles before Fred named it #2 of 2021. Have a bottle of the 16 yr Seagrass bought and paid for. Just waiting for delivery.

To me this is basically a half price boss hog. Which is still too much but id rather buy this. But ill just buy normal seagrass instead of either

Absolutely need to cleanly cut the seals. And when the bottle is recorked, the labels must line up with the bottle.

The box is definitely a bit slippery! If you have or can get a regular sea grass, that’s definitely worth it to me!

Btw id be lying if i said i hadnt seen somebody break one of those fancy barrell bottles due to how they picked up the box.
It’s just natural to grab the box not assuming the bottom is just going to fly out of it with minimal resistance lol
I used to just tear the paper seal but one time with a Michter’s the whole thing came apart and it was a mess so now I cut it just like you.
I’ve seen it at my local store but I don’t like high proof.
