As a Saigon expat I do the reverse of what you do I go every six months to Thailand absolutely love Thailand nice to go to somewhere half way normal
We still haven't made it to Da Nang. Our next domestic trip is to Nha Trang. You can google that if you don't know where that is. I believe it is closer to Saigon, about 1/3 of the way up to Da Nang. Our friends are planning it so I don't know if it will be before or after our beautiful trip to PKK in January. ❤
So glad that you had a smooth and safe journey home in style. It has been a great trip and I really do appreciate the work that you put in to take us along with you. God bless you all 😀🙏
Thanks for the all the videos of Vietnam, all very good. It's not good for them to be scamming tourists, because in the future when people realize it they won't be traveling there much and there hurting there income. So you made it back to Thailand, home again. Have a great day in PKK.
Thank you for all your videos from Vietnam. I have travelled a lot, but Vietnam has never been on my list. So this was really helpful for me, I will visit Da Nang and HoiAn next year for sure. You guys are the best, you are gifts that keep on giving. Btw, I`m sorry about these scams. At least when you exchange money, always count them yourself before you leave the booth, do not trust the tellers. This scam happens in Thailand and Indonesia as well, they are quite clever, and difficult to discover. But insisting on counting it again, the missing money magically appears when they get the money back. Thanks again 😊😊
Hi Joe great videos from your trip to Vietnam. Your son is German and I have a lot of German friends living here in Sweden, great people and expert on beer and sausages 😀
I got scammed right in Bangkok when trying to catch a boat from a floating market back to the city. Tell me if I had or didn't have bad taste in my mouth. I have heard tourists got scammed in Europe and USA as well so what is the difference? Probably when you got scammed in Europe it won't be $20 but hundreds.
Vietnam is the only place we’ve ever been scammed in fifty years of travelling Asia and your right it does leave a bad taste especially when in our case nearly every time you spend money the person you are dealing with is dishonest.
you should get priority pass thru a travel credit card to hit lounges in bangkok aiport also the one in Da Nang is great free buffet and drinks massage chairs and computer area... All the international airports pass lounges have been great most with showers as well also can get in guests...
Unfortunately, airport prices are expensive all over the world. I fly out of Chiang Mai a week or so ago and I think I paid about Aud$10 for a coffee and muffin - lucky they were both every good. In Sydney airport its not unusual to pay Aud $20 for a beer.
I got scammed too in Da nang, in some big shop selling souvenirs, they tried to give methe wrong change and when i noticed, as nothing he gave me my exchange.
Hello Joe and Gift, welcome home, no scammers at your home, only freeloading monkeys swimming in the pool, lying on the loungers, cooking BBQ and the things they were doing in your bed can not be said here 😮😮😮 All good now, I threatened them with Slim Whitman- When I'm calling you and they all ran away,😂😂😂. Rest, Revive, and Regenerate. Great video, sad about the scams but great adventures. 10 / 10 Keep Well, Stay Safe, my friends.
Sorry you got scammed with the money switch. I was in Indonesia and exchanged money and the man switched it too. Looks like you have a verry nice time.
Scammed in Vietnam? Say it ain't so!! lol. My wife is Viet, When she's seen with me, they'll try to scam. You ought to see her go off on scammers. But, it is tiring. I have a Vietnamese visa exemption, about $75/5years. So much easier than a Thailand 'O' visa. Guess where we stay? It's not Vietnam. lol.
I will be visiting my best friend Joe who will be in Hue Hin just north of where you live. He will be there for a few months. I might go there in Feb. I will be there around a week. Wife will not be with me due to so many acting commitments. I might come back to Thailand in March ? I will be scouting places to find old American silver dollars. Hope all is going well with you.
We had a bad experience in Vietnam the sellers were very disrespectful at a clothing market. Their prices were quoted ten times what it should be when I said no thanks the lady said you don’t love your wife. My wife was standing there. If I have another bad experience in Vietnam on this trip I’ll never return. We’ve never had this problem in Thailand.
One other thing now that I remember in vietnam we went to metered taxis and asked if they use meter. The taxi driver said yes we got in taxi and he wouldn't turn meter on so I said take us back to airport he wouldn't so I said drop us off here he finally did, we got a grab that took us to hotel. The meter tells the truth otherwise your being overcharged. I hope we have a better experience this time.
To all the comments on Viet Nam as having too many scams. You guys act as if Thailand is scam free. As soon as you depart the plane in Bangkok, you're a target from the tuk tuk driver to the touts in between! So please spare me the difference in both countries. Scams are everywhere, and they're not just exclusive to one particular country. Viet Nam is beloved by foreigners who lived and worked there. So let's not pretend it's a terrible place to visit.
@@thaigirlgiftforeignerjoe7774 ahhh ok. The world has changed for the worse and it seems like you can never again leave the house without looking over your shoulder and constantly being on guard. Thieves are everywhere looking for the next victim.
Next time, if you’re paying cash, take a video of you counting it, showing the money on the camera and giving it to the server. You could be nonchalant about it and just act like you’re saying what a great deal it is for all you get.
You are probably right as we love to travel and experience things for ourselves. Next time, I won’t let my guard down and remember, no matter the location there will always be scams around us.

Won't the hotel do money exchanges so you don't have to go to the street? Really pisses me off and ruins a trip when people work so hard to scam you.
