I daily an E90 323i (N52 2.5L @ 200HP) and its a joy! I love that damn car. This model is Canada specific - a crapshoot if I see it listed on websites.
My daily is a 330i N52 260hp from factory, is a manual 6spd with the Sport and Premium Packages, its an amazing car way ahead of its time, had my doubts at first but after all the preventative maintance done and giving her love (currently has 224k miles) I have 0 regrets! 🙌🏽🔥
Same car here. Very reliable. Kind of a pain to work on with the computer and all, but overall its probably the best car I've ever owned (had 17 other cars). The 330i is kind of slow, but if you flog it and keep it over 4000rpm it starts to move okay. The engine loves to rev, so that's not so bad.

I recently got an E92 335i and I've been loving my days with it! Mine doesn't have an N54 engine but rather the N55 with a DCT. I don't drive it hard it is such a nice cruiser and I know that once I get up to maintenance and put some reliability mods I'll be able to drive it a little harder with confidence

I just finished my upgraded turbo N54 335i e92 M-Sport in Lemans Blue. I've come from driving e30, e36, and e46 and let's just say there's a reason I stuck with the n54 platform. They take to mods so well it's hard not to want to drive anything else. They come with higher costs of maintenance but when they work they work. I did a full engine reseal and replaced all of the known issues and am comfortably sitting at 450whp on 93 and it's a joy to drive. If you do your work yourself I would highly recommend one but if you take your car to a shop beware it'll cost you.
I went from a 04 330ci ZHP to an 08 335i and I've got to say... E46 is a wayy better driving experience. Dont get me wrong, a 335i is still fun as hell to drive but if a N54 E46 was possible it would be unstoppable on the road (until the HPFP, water pump, or Piezo injectors fail of course lol)
oil filter housing gasket, and replace your serpentine belt. Even if it looks okay it could be brittle and dry from prior leaks. Mine snapped and I was blessed that my front main seal didn't get cooked.

One thing I don’t hear mentioned is it is the last generation of car that is mechanical but has just enough technology in addition to being hundreds of lbs lighter than modern cars. You can buy for $10k more or less, bolt ons and tune, you’re keeping up with modern sports cars for 1/4 the price. The torque is amazing every time. Give the car a proper diff, upgrade the turbo(s) so they can hold to redline even with casual fuel/tuning, and the family sedan will be transformed. (Suspension is a given but n54’s particularly lack in those two departments)
I daily drive a 2009 E90 335xi M-Sport N54 with 193k on it, original turbos. Got it at 129k, been reliable so far surprisingly (keeping up with maintenance). Just picked up a 2011 E90 M3. Can't seem to stay away from this chassis.
I daily a 318d pre-lci(N47D20A @ 200hp 400nm 6speed manual) love the balance and the driving of the car. Also it’s a rare colour combination Monaco blue with lime leather interior. Such a beauty. With just a suspension and breaks upgrade it becomes a very respectable car on a twisty road!
As a BMW enthusiasts and e90 owner you're not wrong 😂. Even when the g80 and new Comp. cars came out literally everyone hated them, especially the big grills. Now they're arguably known as some of the best looking "luxury" cars
All 3 series generations are great except the F30. That thing sucks to drive, but looks amazing. I dunno though, if you go back and read reviews from 2005/2006 people loved the E90.
Got a E91 with a N54 ST swap, on a 6mt twin disk, it's a blast, WHEN IT WORKS. - cheap - fast - easy to work on - a LOT of parts : new, used, aftermarket, mods, etc. - Forums and fb groups are VERY active - DME and other module ''unlocked'' so coding, tuning are insanely easy and cheap. - can be reliable with a N52 - N52 can make insane power for a N/A engine, on a budget. - So many options on those cars, that is very fun to retrofit. - auto, dtc or manual available - RWD or AWD available. I bought a 09 e92 328i with a manual about 2 months ago and the car is a blast to drive. Not fast but definitely fun on these north East roads and will keep up with the new sports cars if you can drive it. But it’s been fine so far apart from some expected maintenance issues that comes with a 120k used car and is easy to work on. I would 100% recommend for a daily or someone that wants a fun autocross car
Ngl the e90 saved my life. I had a 2008 328i & then a 2013 328i. Both coupe, but 06/26/2019 in my 2013, I was in Houston got off work & went down Memorial & dude jumped 4 lanes of cross traffic in a pickup, I barely missed em & a lady in a car in the oncoming turning lane didnt see me because of dude tail gate obstructed her view, she hit my driver side, I was going 50 plus & slammed into a wood telephone pole & came out without a scratch…lately Ive been missing my 3 series for the last few years
Great video! Very informative. Don’t forget about the 335is, exclusively produced in North America 11-13 and kitted with the N54, upgraded oil cooler, and index 12 injectors. Also, DCT offering. I picked one up a few months ago and courtesy of a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) got the leaky oil pan gasket and coolant reservoir done. Maintenance is key with this timeless platform. Check this box, and you’ll have a ton of fun.
i owned a tuned deleted 335d and it was the BEST daily with fuel economy and reliability and i had a platform to talk about it on i would plz make a video about them
I have a 2017 BMW 430I Gran Coupe M Sport package with around 120K miles now. I've owned this car for about five years now and I really love it. But its starting to show the need for a lot of maintenance coming up and I don't know if it's worth it. It runs great but in the last two years I have replaced a few things totaling $10K and the last shop quoted another $10K in upcoming things. Should I swap this with something different or actually go for it? Engine swap and more?
Owned my 2013 e92 M3 for almost 10 years now. Never a single issue. Love it to death! Now it shares the garage with my g80 m3! I'd stay away from the e9x 335i, but highly recommend the 330, and 328i models! If you're after tuning, dish out the extra money and get into an f chassis car.
Never heard of a m3 without a single issue in 10 years.. and cap, i have a 335i n55 for two years now and no issues besides oil pan and valve cover leak
@@andyzavala7286 lol well you're lucky then man. I think it's because the majority of 335s are heavily modified. And m3s are 10x more reliable then the 3 series counterparts. Build quality design etc. you pay for what you get. But likely the case with mine is that I've taken care of my car meticulously. Most m3s are already crashed because of how they're driven.
That’s pretty funny when You tell that 335d is the best bmw E9x and they are rare in the US. I’m from EU and almost every modded E9x or E6x is equipped with the diesel engine xD
Bought mine in December and have been chasing a nasty clunking when I reverse or turn the wheel sometimes. I replaced everything under the front except the sway bar and the bushings. But e90 experience has been for the most part positive.
How was the reliability on your two 335is's? I only make 45k a year so by no means i got loads of cash especially in this economy 🥲 I been looking at 328i due to it being the more reliable of the e9x generation.
Watched this video in attempt to try and change my mind from wanting to buy another E90 because the transmission went out on my first one and I just couldn’t justify the cost to replace it but this video made me want it even more
you are not wrong with adapting. i was always against E90's well pre-lci e90's however I bought one about a year ago. and I honestly love it. has 150k miles now FBO and is fun to drive
I got my mom / older brothers old 2009 LCI E90 335D after trading my brother my old A3 + cash, it's fully deleted, JR 2.8 tune, WagnerTuning Evo2 competition kit, Turner motorsports induction kit, Bilstein B14S, I have it on style 135M OEM wheels with my "Budget drag pack" 2 Yokohama Advan HP A/S up front and 2 Nankang AR-1 Semi-slicks in the back. It makes for a fun daily lol, decent on fuel too with my heavy foot. 😁
Here in Europe we even got little 4 cylinder diesel and gasoline variants of the E90. I love it how much you rate the diesel and I agree the 6 cylinder is fantastic but over here the 4 cylinder diesels are the most common models. I have an E91 facelift 330 diesel manual which I believe could be the rarest non M spec from this generation. Correct me if I’m wrong though.
I daily my 2009 bmw 335i e90. If you’re questioning whether it’s worth it to buy this car despite the problems that come up, I’m telling you it’s 100% worth it. The driving experience in one of these cars is the best you can get for the price. If you are looking at getting one and it’s over around 90-100k miles, make sure the turbos have been replaced or else you’ll probably have to do it, and it’s not an easy job. Every gasket on the engine leaks. Most are easy to get to when you replace them, but the oil pan gasket is really hard to do. Most parts for these cars you can get for pretty cheap, and if you can work on the car yourself the money side of it isn’t that bad. I’ve owned my car for almost a year after owning a 2011 g37 coupe. It’s so much better despite the issues
We have an x5 35i from the same era. Make sure you change the electric water pump every 10 years or 60k miles. Just do it. It is really easy and takes like 10 min over a coolant swap. When you buy you want to ask the PO what fuel it takes and come off like premium is expensive. Do not buy something with a turbo people put 87 in.
@3:24 Wholeheartedly agree. At first, you see the new generation and think “what the hell was BMW thinking” then months to years later your like “damn, that looks hella nice”. Its like BMW finds some way to gaslight you 😂😂😂
Nice vid Alex! What about a bmw e82 next? People seem to be going more and more towards the 128/135 platforms, i’ve got one myself and it’s a blast to drive, even in the snow here in Canada 😬
The N52 engines in the F10 2010 and 2011 have a turbo kit now. Slap on the turbo and put on a better intake. Cat delete. So 3L turbo straight 6 easy build. 260KW.
Very cool and informative video. My dad owns a 525d e60 with the M57 2.5Liter engine and im considering getting a 335d e92 soon. These cars are so good and the engine is so robust on them and seems like an E90 or an E92 335d would be so great to own . Could u maybe cover the 330d and 335d in better detail? both with the M57 and N57 engine? Thank you very much!
4N Motorsports destroked N55 is one of the best sounding and most intriguing things I’ve ever seen on a BMW, and what made me curious about the E9X platform as an American V8 guy.
It’s just so easy to get something fun and reliable out of an N52. I had the choice between a 2010 wrx and a 2011 xdrive 328i, and I’ve been extremely happy with my E90 for the past 6 years of ownership. But I am surprised no one here is complaining about the lack of a dipstick though lol
BMW evolution as an enthusiast, explained. 1) each generation is fairly drastically different, the lineage isnt nearly as strong as porsche between generations. Because of this, each car is drastically different, so much so, that it takes a while before you start to notice the similarities and the "m3 DNA" actually starts bleeding through. E30-E36 (lets use the euro for this example) heavier, larger, far less "because racecar DTM", but also nearly 300 hp from a ITB inline 6, and an absolutely confident but playful chassis. Lets also remember the e36 interior is abysmal in quality and the stupid steering column doesn't adjust at all. E46 in the USA was drastic, 100hp gain, weight, different sheet metal than the base, and a modern ish feeling wider chassis which loses the "rails" feeling and instead gains a good amount of torsional rigidity diagonally making it feel less playful at a lower threshold like the e36, but ultimately more capable. E9x, V8 in the m3, way heavier, and the n54 turbo cars are beating the v8 in straight line speed for far less than the sticker price difference between the two, and they failed to address the rod bearing issue which was already plaguing s54 and s85. F8x, DUMB THEY CHANGED THE COUPE TO SOME MADE UP M4 NONSENSE, ELECTRIC STEERING IS THE DEVIL etc, but lighter, incredibly fast, class leading interior, and weight fell from e9x. and now the G8x are super heavy, ridiculously fast, and numb and still in my opinion look terrible aside from the m2 but no car that small should be 3800lbs. BUT... once you get past all of that, and you live with each one for a while, the M3 dna comes through, you start to notice it hiding in areas, a connection to different points in its past, and thats the point where you come to terms with the things that are different arent necessarily bad and you realize the things you like about an M3 are still there, but they need time to shine through, because lets face it, german cars are rarely known for their "soul". Its also important to realize that what you think makes an m3, isnt what makes an m3, because those things are all drastically different across generations yet some how, still have a feeling of being similar and related.
Got my e90 for 1k. rebuilt cooling system, OFHG, Alternator, Tensioner, Valve cover, and all I have left is the steering and motor mounts. the car may have been 1k, but it has been 9k in repairs so far. 124k on the motor
5:57 Well the truth of it is that before the N54 Twin Turbo engines cars there were NO CARS every day drivers could even dream of actually modifying. It cost far far too much and you had to be an ultra enthusiast to really have and daily drive a big power nice car. Or you had to have very deep pockets! The N54 changed all of that and I don't really know if any car before that that you could just do a tune on and gain 100hp and tq instantly which would then drive like a luxury car as well!
Got an 2012 e90 320D last year December her in South-Africa. Was looking for 330D/335d but as he said they don't sell those adn if they do its got a high tag, higher then me and I'm a stoner.. anyway I love the car as went from an 2007 Subaru 2.0R to this and well.. I think Ill keep this one.
I used to have a 2011 335i (n55 3.0L 400hp) was full bolt ons and it was a dream to drive had it for 70k miles on apex arc-8’s and bilstein coilovers. Sadly I got t boned by a lady going thru a left yield and was totaled.
I'm just patiently waiting on my direct injection delete wiring harnesses. That will solve the problem of high pressure fuel pumps and index injectors... Oddly enough I've had my N54 for about 4 years and have never had a water pump issue.
i have a e60 project (its a early model so it has the m54 thats in the base e46's) so idk it would be cool to see you make a video about the E60 since it has a wide range of motors and stuff
335d is where it’s at, I have one with 237k miles, original engine deleted tuned and spotless inside and out. The car is dead reliable and loves doing pulls all day while getting 25mpg. Best car ever.
Can’t recommend an e9x m3 enough, I’ve had mine for 6 years with 0 issues. Fbo e85 is enough power to have fun. The sound and looks is more than enough to make you happy, let alone the reliability. If you take care of it, it’ll take care of you.

This is pretty much my dream spec. Daily a e92 335i but I’d love a wagon
Ive never done a swap but once i get my e39 up and going my e91 may get a n54 or a m57 from a 335d
Both coupe, but 06/26/2019 in my 2013, I was in Houston got off work & went down Memorial & dude jumped 4 lanes of cross traffic in a pickup, I barely missed em & a lady in a car in the oncoming turning lane didnt see me because of dude tail gate obstructed her view, she hit my driver side, I was going 50 plus & slammed into a wood telephone pole & came out without a scratch…lately Ive been missing my 3 series for the last few years
Man, a very well put together talk. Thank you!
Engine swap and more?
his humor brings us back💯
gotta love my e90 n54
As someone from St. Cloud Minnesota, i felt thay
I’ve had 2 335is’s and just got into a project E90 M3. If you’re thinking ab it just do it lol, they’re the best cars ever.
How was the reliability on your two 335is's? I only make 45k a year so by no means i got loads of cash especially in this economy 🥲
I been looking at 328i due to it being the more reliable of the e9x generation.
Watched this video in attempt to try and change my mind from wanting to buy another E90 because the transmission went out on my first one and I just couldn’t justify the cost to replace it but this video made me want it even more
At how many miles when it died?
you are not wrong with adapting. i was always against E90's well pre-lci e90's however I bought one about a year ago. and I honestly love it. has 150k miles now FBO and is fun to drive
Awesome content. Now lets do E46 😁 Been enjoying a 330ci. Awesome machines!
I daily drive a 08 335xi, daily driven 20k miles since I bought it with a stage 2+ tune and haven't had any issues so far...
Good job on this series, the title alway keep me ground in regards to “its not that serious”.
Its like BMW finds some way to gaslight you 😂😂😂
Love the videos can you guys talk about station wagons/tourings
I've loved my E90 '07 328xi 6MT for the past 12 years, never selling!
Nice vid Alex! What about a bmw e82 next? People seem to be going more and more towards the 128/135 platforms, i’ve got one myself and it’s a blast to drive, even in the snow here in Canada 😬
Love my pre lci E90 328i, other than the few times it left me stranded but it's been great 🤓
The N52 engines in the F10 2010 and 2011 have a turbo kit now. Slap on the turbo and put on a better intake. Cat delete. So 3L turbo straight 6 easy build. 260KW.
One of these vids on a GS300/ Aristo would be sick
I have an E92 M3 which I absolutely love! Also, just picked up an E70 X5 with the M57 Diesel, both are beasts! Couldn't be happier with them! :-)
Another e9x video lets go !!!
love yall could you do one on the mustang s550 gen? or do more of these focusing on cars
335D mentioned ❤
Well said
2008 335i N54 single turbo 6062 (gen 2) precision only tuned on pump gas rn 19psi ~ 450ish ...maybe 👀
Actually love the website
Got my e90 for 1k. rebuilt cooling system, OFHG, Alternator, Tensioner, Valve cover, and all I have left is the steering and motor mounts. the car may have been 1k, but it has been 9k in repairs so far. 124k on the motor
You should review my 2007 Dodge Charger SRT8 and how it’s held up. it’s the #10-300 ever made in Plum Crazy Purple!
ATS Carbon cleaner helped my car. After that treatment it was like having a brand new engine. Insane product.
Do F10 next, I’m a poor 528i driver and could use some good news
Shout out to Carissa for being so much help on the website! Thank you guys❤️
@15:00 don’t forget electrical issues as well
I used to have a 2011 335i (n55 3.0L 400hp) was full bolt ons and it was a dream to drive had it for 70k miles on apex arc-8’s and bilstein coilovers.
I have a 335d, tuned and fully deleted. Never getting rid of that thing.
I see e90 and I click. E91 is the best car I've ever owned. E63 M6, 3000gt vr4, MS6, and 944 turbo included.
And thats why I run watermeth to clean my valves overtime, best part is that windshield wiper fluid is so cheap and contains tons of methanol!
Who wouldn't want a German 2jz in near perfect wagon, the e91 335i absolute beaut of a weapon, hope you can tell I'm from England 😊
i have a e60 project (its a early model so it has the m54 thats in the base e46's) so idk it would be cool to see you make a video about the E60 since it has a wide range of motors and stuff
I love my E93 328i ❤
I’m literally searching for a e90 awd 6mt atm, hoping to have one soon to daily
Alex, can you talk about the Kia Stinger?
U loved enjoying a E60 535i. One of the most reliable bmw's that I ever owend.
I like the E92 a lot, what I really don't like is the iDrive.
But otherwise I really like it and I dig the looks as well.
Had a stage2+ 335is for 3 years great car just focus on cooling and misfires
335d is where it’s at, I have one with 237k miles, original engine deleted tuned and spotless inside and out. The car is dead reliable and loves doing pulls all day while getting 25mpg. Best car ever.
My favorite part was him talking about the n54 and n55 while showing m3s
2011 E90 335i RWD here with all the mods. I also daily a 2004 E46 manual and it doesn't compare in anyway tomy 335i.
The E90 series has actually started getting me into BMWs. I’ve never really cared about them before
Can’t recommend an e9x m3 enough, I’ve had mine for 6 years with 0 issues. Fbo e85 is enough power to have fun. The sound and looks is more than enough to make you happy, let alone the reliability. If you take care of it, it’ll take care of you.
